Shona heard the baby's cry smiling he knew the hold ordeal was done. Sighing he went around to see his mother and daughter.
Qilaq caugh the baby as so as it arrived. She cleaned the fluid from his noise and mouth and cut the cord. She wrapped him in a warm rabbit pelt and a gave it to Mica.
"He's a big boy, congradulations to both of you." Qilaq muttered blessing from the spirits as she gave the child to his mother. Kokomi waterbended the mess away.
"Mama, did the baby come ok?" Qilaq nodded. "Boy slid right out of her, like turtleseal on a ice flow. Big one too," Shona bowed to the family
"Congratulation, may your son bring much honor to you." Shona was going to go back out to deal with his family when Hebirei walked in.
"Umm....Look, I would like to apologize for my disrespectful behavior before, and if you will, I would like you to pass this on to the rest of your family. I honestly was just trying to help them, and I lost my temper. I am sorry."
Shona shrugged. "Maybe you should tell my family not just me.. you insulted all of them in their face now apologise to their face. I'm not a messenger."

Even someone who had seen dozens of birthings like Padma was surprised how quickly the childbirth was progressing. The contractions had started maybe an hour ago and already the cirvex was almost completely dialated. The baby wouldn't wait much longer to make it's debute. "Push!" She urged Mica. "We're almost done here. Just a little more. And don't forget to breath. Remember how I showed you!" A few more moments of labor and Qilaq caught the baby and tended to it, while Padma focused her attention on the mother. "You did great. That was the smoothest birth I've ever seen, and this was hardly my first." She smiled as the baby was passed to his doubtlessly proud parents. "The boy has some lungs on him. That's a great sign. He's perfectly healthy." She got up, washing her hands off in a basin of water that had been provided for them. "I'll leave you two alone with your little one now. If you need anything at all, just send someone to fetch me."
Padma couldn't help thinking of the child growing inside her own womb with happy anticipation. In just six months time, she'd be in Mica's situation, holding a tiny life within her hands. By the time she made it out to where Taartoq was sitting, she was beaming and radient. "It's a boy," she told him. "He's big and beautiful and healthy. Oh, isn't the world wonderful?" She hugged and kissed her husband, curling up next him on the furs. It would soon be their turn to be the proud new parents. Of course, Taartoq didn't know that, but after such a wonderful scene, how could he still dread having children of his own? "It seems, that even during the worst of times there is something to be glad of."

Mica smiled wordlessly to the woman and took her baby happily though she was worn out beyond her bodies own limits, the hours long process wielded such a tiny thing, she couldn't help but marvel at his tiny little scrunched up face, the little hands that were so small but strong enough to ball themselves into fists.
Her tired brown eyes though laced with tears, had never seen something so beautiful. The babies skin was a little darker than her own, his hair was brown wisps on top of his head, she hadn't yet seen his eyes but whether they were blue or brown she didn't care. This was her little baby boy. It was more than anything she could ever fully say, this new life that was hers and Kaiden's born in an ice cave from hell. Somehow it didn't seem so bad anymore.
She moved against Kaiden having spent herself, the baby fussed and wailed hungry, tired and wanting to test out his lungs. This part she knew enough about, she'd seen her own mother with her siblings in her youth. After a bit of assistance from her husband she got herself settled, her arms holding the baby to her breast. They'd gotten themselves situated just in time to save the onlookers filtering in a glance of something they ought not see.
Kaiden allowed his wife and child to rest against his chest, after all it gave him a chance to see his son, he was eager to hold him, proud to have a boy but all the same he knew Mica worked hard and deserved her turn first, and aside from that the whining baby appeared to need her attentions more than his own.
As soon as Mica was situated and the boy was latched on Kaiden draped a blanket around the pair both to preserve modesty and keep the baby safe from the chill of the air. His arms quickly found themselves around his wifes shoulders holding her seated weight. Should she drift off he'd had her. That was one of the small things he could do for her.
There couldn't be a prouder father at the moment, he'd protect this family with all his strength, hell, if Mica didn't need him at the moment he felt like he could take on the entire firenation if it meant his son would have a better world to grow up in.
A pleased grin set upon his face, the little earth kingdom girl he fell in love with was never more breathtaking, half asleep, windblown, worn out, cradling his son like a treasure from the spirits themselves. His face pressed into Mica's sweat laced brown hair, her smell, the smell of childbirth his son and the lotions she used to wash days before. It was small things like this he'd remember in time, his love for her and his son were things he'd never forget.

"Maybe you should tell my family not just me.. you insulted all of them in their face now apologise to their face. I'm not a messenger."
Feeling his anger bubbling up again, but at the same time forcing it down, Hebirei couldn’t form words that anyone but him could understand as his frustration grew. As he tried to speak, he realized this fact and just decided to shut up and nod. As he walked past Shona though, he couldn’t help but make a sour face. He would make a point to avoid that family after his apology as long as he could help it. He then entered the birthing-hut with his parents and spoke to Kaiden and his wife. He wasn’t done apologizing just yet.
“Um..I really do apologize for making your birth any more complicated than it had to be, but all the same, congratulations!”

After nearly slipping into a coma, the dastardly air of boredom and tension drifting in the shelter was broken. One couldn't ignore the nearby woman in childbirth, and though Taartoq was no exception, he preferred to try and keep his mind on other things. Waterbending techniques, ancient customs, herbal mixtures, and new clothes were things that crossed his mind, all to keep it occupied during that time. Really, it was like Taartoq was lost in his own imagination.
That is, until an excited Padma ran up and announced the child's gender to Taartoq. Apparently he had overlooked the rapturous joy echoing from the icy enclosure where the Earth Kingdom woman was giving birth, but Padma made it obvious the child had already began its life. His wife was, of course, affectionate, but he kept his usual stoic demeanor even as she hugged him. That didn't stop him from putting his arm around her waist with her embrace, but his face was hardly emotional in the slightest.
This was probably because he knew Padma would have ulterior motives. He was keenly aware of her desires, her ambitions, and feared it would be the primary topic of their discussions in the days to come. Holding back a grimace, he uttered a soft whisper to his wife. "Yes, of course. I'm glad you're happy."
But little did he know what secrets his wife was withholding.

Padma suppressed a sigh. He certainly didn't sound happy. She had been silly, of course, to think that something like this would change Taartoq's long held opposition to the couple having children, but she had hoped. It was just that everything had seemed so much brighter in that moment than it had for the past two days and her happiness had seemed so complete that she couldn't help thinking it would be contagious. But she had forgotten, her husband didn't often let himself linger in his own emotions. He was logical and at times rather uneasy with his feelings, as if they belonged to someone else. That they were so opposite in this area was part of what made them such good friends, but it was also part of the reason why their relationship could, at times, be very difficult. "You don't sound very happy, darling..." She said, outlining his cheekbone with the palm of her hand in a gentle caress.

Allowing his wife's hand to glide over the surface of his fallow skin, Taartoq briefly looked her in the face before his eyes drifted elsewhere. Mouth widening, though not quite into a warm smile, his wife was returned a rather uneasy grin. His cyan orbs sinking to stare at the ground, he brought his free hand up to rest on Padma's leg. "You should not mourn my low mood," he said with a sigh.
"Please, if the moment pleases you, by all means...be happy." Taartoq honestly hoped his advice would be heeded. He could truly not understand how a person could be empathetic, so as to sense the feelings of another and live them as though they were your own. But he still appreciated her ability to do so even if he lacked one of his own. His eyes once more meeting those of his wife, his expression seemed to soften, to that of a more calmed demeanor. "But if I worry you, I'll try to cheer up."

"That's all I can ask of you." Padma pressed her lips lightly against Taartoq's and ran a hand through his hair. Even after two days in this shelter it was still so beautiful. So beautiful that she wished she could kiss it and fall into her husband's arms and massage all his worries away. But they were in public and he didn't join the games of love as she did. The fact saddened her, knowing she couldn't please him with the very caresses and touches that meant so much her and the only thing that slightly appeased her grief was knowing that no one else could either. He simply did not feel the desire for that type of intamate contact. It was something that she couldn't understand anymore than he could understand her empathy, but she had always felt safest when held in his arms. She nudged closer to Taartoq and leaned against his chest with a half contented sigh. "I just want you to be happy, dearest." And for our child to be healthy, she mentally added.

Ah, yes. Padma resorted to her common affectionate displays, which Taartoq returned with little more than a nod of his head and a grin so slight. Curious how two people so different in just one regard could have share such a strong bond of friendship, though not feeling any romantic ties whatsoever. Or at least such was the case with Taartoq. He may have admired his wife's physical beauty as he would a fountain or a lifelike statue of a snow crane, but it could safely be said that Taartoq lacked any sort of sexual drive. The most intimate action he gave back to Padma was his right hand, his fingers interlocking with her own.
"Then I am pleased we share the same sentiment." To the average onlooker, it would seem that Taartoq's witty words would apply solely to himself. People had a habit of thinking Taartoq was utterly self-centered, caring for no one for himself. Alas, Padma would most likely know what he meant. He was, of course, referring to her. Taartoq knew his wife wanted to be happy, and Padma clearly wanted the same for her husband.
But his tone soon changed as a somber fact was brought back to attention. "Sadly, I see no way to pass the time. It will be a long wait. May the spirits guide our forces, that the battle may end soon and with victory on our side."

Qilaq gathered her things as did Kokomi. She walked with her father pass the couple to her side of the shelter with her mother.
"You did a wonderful job Kokomi" Nezumi praised as her daughter sat down, The family looked wane and tired. Qilaq snuggled agaist Manja and Shona sat by his wife. Sighing tiredly he looked over at Halona.
"Hey, Halli, you feeling ok?" The new widow nodded. Shona leaned over. "I've been thinkin' Do you want to say with me an Nez?" Halona jerked her head over, she looked surprised. "Really? Shona you'll let me stay with you?" Nezumi nodded. Shona added. "Well you need some help raising the little one. And we're family it's what we do." Halona threw her arms around Shona and embraced him. "Thank you Shona! Thank you so much." Shona sighed and told her it was no problem.
With that out of the way the clan of Manja waited for the end of the seige so they can bury their dead and get on with their lives
Shona is out of the RP

Padma smiled. She had understood Taartoq's words perfectly. Even as a child he had been friendly to her and she had never thought of him as selfish. Introverted, yes, afraid of getting hurt, perhaps, but never selfish. Placing a slender hand over her mouth, she did her best to mask a rather unladylike yawn. By the spirits, she was tired. What time was it? She could no longer tell if it was night or day after being in a shelter for so long, where their only light was the fey, shifting glow of a few lantern's fire. How odd that they should be fighting the Fire Nation outside, while those in the shelters relied on the light from that very nation's element. It was a strange sort of thought, only half formed and soft around the edges as it slowly disappeared entirely. A calm and peaceful sort of darkness replaced it as the mother-to-be finally slept.
[And Padma is as good as gone from this thread :3]

Kaiden smiled proudly at the families coming in to see them, softly he blushed feeling a little uncomfortable with all the attention but everything was okay now after all. He looked down at his son who was now asleep, Mica was on her way out, her head bobbing lightly as she fought to stay awake. Her hands kept her child tightly against her chest not wanting for him to be cold or hurt. With sleep definite in her eyes she gazed up at her dark skinned husband happily, their family was alright, the world couldn't be so bad, everyone will pull through okay.
The couple kissed lightly Mica turning her brown eyes down to her little baby, he was perfect, she couldn't think of anything that would make her little angel any better. " Can we name him Kyuso....?" She didn't bother to look up at Kaiden, he knew enough about her, why she'd pick that name. Kaiden was silent for a moment but he nodded and cuddled her up to his chest. "thats alright, Kyuso is a fine name." As much as they wanted to greet the onlookers they were too tired for such a thing at the moment. With a soft sigh Mica closed her eyes, perfectly content with the cold icy world she was living in, it was no earth kingdom but it would do.
Hotaru cuddled into her parka silently, unaware of her surroundings. In her dreams she ran about the house younger than she was now, helping with chores, not a care in the world. Her dreams were that of a better world before the fire nation knocked at their door. Suddenly fire caught the house, melting the ice, burning her clothing and singing her hair. She panicked, bursting from her dreams, sitting up with her heart racing. That was more like her usual dreams. Looking about quickly she was happy no one seemed to be watching. Her jaw set firmly and she hugged her knees to her chest. She wouldn't let the fire destroy her, only she could control her fate...

Keeping watch on his wife, gazing at her drift off into slumber with his fingers laced with hers, powers beyond his control forced him to do the same. Prolonged blinks became closed eyes, while a single yawn provided a nice overture to resting his head on that of his wife. Taartoq may have known the boredom inside the shelter, but at least they were safe. Allowed to be peaceful as they waited for salvation.
His face resting on his wife's chocolate brown hair with reddish hints, strands of his own deep brown hair dangled amongst them. Pupils the color of turquoise stone were covered completely by his eyelids, heavy with mental and emotional fatigue. There was far too much to be seen, to have handled, and the rest was welcome entirely. Sleep came before he knew it, but the darkest depths of his mind pleaded with the spirits that it would be the last night they spent in that place. That is, before his mind drifted into a total and complete lack of consciousness.

Looking down at the small boy, who was named Kyuso, apparently, he felt all of his anger drain away, and how could it not, seeing such a blessing. He paid the couple his greetings and made himself scarce. As he settled himself back among his family he chose to daydream for awhile.
Hebirei started to bend some snow and covered all of his family in snow. He then chose to make the snow into snowmen. As he did, he realized that these snowmen should not be smiling, they should be frowning. He started to drift off into a deep sleep, finally able to relax. His daydream then continued in his sleep. The snowmen then attacked him and made him turn their frowns back to smiles. All except for his own snowman, who stayed put and chose to fall asleep He continued to dream of snowmen for hours to come

Having refused the bowl of gruel-like oatmeal, Ukaleq sighed heavily as she rested her forehead against the back of Naira's head, the girl still sitting in her lap, leaning back against her sister's chest. The girl's head still smelled like smoked meat from two nights ago. It was comforting to the elder sister who was desperately missing her normal life. She closed her eyes, long lashes pressed against her dark skin as she rested her forehead. When would this end? When would they be allowed to return and when could she see her Father, Mother, and Brother again?
The young noblewoman pressed her lips together as she ran through stories and folklore in her head to pass the time, her tight shoulders relaxing as she rolled them. Her hair felt greasy, unclean.. she would have to take it out of the four braids and wash it, using her mothers herbal waters to clean it.. maybe.. if she was lucky, the Fire Nation's attack hadn't reached the upper levels.. and her home would be spared.
