Aang had crawled over to one of the cushioned mats surrounding the cooking pot and sat kneeling in front of arrangement of food. He reached forward and grabbed a shiny red apple that Katara had placed beside one of the rice bowls. As Katara went on to explain the plan of stopping by Omashu to find Bumi, the young Avatar rubbed the apple against the chest of his shirt to remove any smudges and then took a large bite out of its side. It was almost more than he could chew and he took several seconds of awkwardly rolling the big piece between his teeth before he broke it down into manageable pieces.
"Though.. When I was in town this morning.. while you two were sawing logs.. I overheard some villagers talking about rumors of a massive Fire Nation army amassing to the North west of Ba Seng Sei.. That might be something worth checking out, Aang." That last part caught Aang a bit off-guard. He forced the remaining chunks of apple to the side of his mouth, tucked in one cheek like a chip-monkey, he said, "Probably..." There was a moment of pause as he worked to swallow more of his mouthful, "But I think we might as well stop by Omashu while we're so close. Bumi might know more about what's going on." Aang gulped down the rest of the apple in his mouth and rested his hands in his lap, "Maybe he;s already got some crazy plan set into motion to help."
He suddenly felt the tug of tiny clawed hands climbing up the back of his shirt and Aang smiled when he felt Momo come to his usual perch hanging over his shoulder. "Hey, Momo!" he greeted the lemur, smiling cheerfully at the little creature and handing him the remains of the apple. Aang glanced back at Katara as he leaned forward and claimed a bowl of rice and chopsticks for himself.

That news did sit to well with Sokka, “Looks like they’re planning to take down Ba Sing Sei, the million gold piece question, is how? Knowing the Fire Nation they probably have some crazy weapon up their sleeves.” Sokka got up and looked for his shoes, “We need to get a move on to Omashu, so we can plan ahead in just in case.” Sokka said preparing to get ready now fully awake and fed. He got his pack and supplies and looked for his weapond. He found his boomerang near the window and grabbed it before he put it in it’s sheath. “Alright I’m ready, is everybody else? The faster we get to Omashu, the faster we can get Aang a teacher and help Ba Sing Sei.”

"Well I think we should leave this decision up to Aang, Sokka. I personally think if the Fire Nation is about to attack Ba Seng Sei, we should be there to aid the Fire Nation. This might be our chance to get the support and backing of the Earth King." Katara sounded, as she looked towards Sokka as if he was a mere sack of potatoes. Sometimes she did not understand her brother's logic. "I mean.. after all.. I'm sure we can find an Earth Bending teacher in Ba Seng Sei too.." She sighed heavily and leaned forward and grabbed a dumpling with the ends of her chop stick. "We have a predictament.. what's more important.. Learning Earth Bending right now.. or stopping a Fire Nation assult on Ba Seng Sei. Sure the city has held for 100 years.. but how much longer can the walls hold?"
"..Aang.. what do you want to do?" She passed the torch so to speak onto Aang, his opinion being the deciding factor.

Aang managed to tear his attention away from his bowl of rice that he'd been greedily shoveling into his mouth in order to hear Katara finish. I personally think if the Fire Nation is about to attack Ba Seng Sei, we should be there to aid the Fire Nation. This might be our chance to get the support and backing of the Earth King." The young Avatar lowered his bowl, dropping his chopsticks into it as he wiped at his mouth with the back of his forearm. "We have a predictament.. what's more important.. Learning Earth Bending right now.. or stopping a Fire Nation assult on Ba Seng Sei. Sure the city has held for 100 years.. but how much longer can the walls hold?"
Aang understood her apparent frustration. It was a dilemma that affected them all. However, in this particular case he was almost certain that Omashu was the best course. He offered Katara an encouraging smile, one that spoke clearly of assuredness, and said, "I still think we should stop by Omashu. It'll take less than a full day's flight to get there, and if we pick our heading right, it won't even add a half day on the trip to Ba Sing Se." Aang reached forward toward a cup of water that was sitting amon the assembled breakfast foods and with a few delicate motions of his fingers, he used his bending to stream th water gently out of the cup. The water condensed itself into a near little sphere and Aang guided it carefully right into his own waiting mouth. He gulped down the water and smiled at Katara, knowing that it was a little unnecessary when he could have just asked her to pass the cup to him.
"Anyway, if all you heard were just rumors from regular people, they might not be entirely true. I think it might be best to find Bumi, see if he's heard anything about an army on the move. If not, he can teach me earthbending, and if there is, he can tell me the name of a good master in Ba Sing Se while we go there to help." Aang paused for a moment after that, hoping it would convince his waterbending companion. However, one more point popped into his mind that might sway her answer and he added, "Besides... Ba Sing Se's walls are taller than a bow-shot is far. I cant imagine what the Fire nation could do to break through in the few days it'd take us to swing by Omashu."

Less than an hour later the three travelers had gathered their belongings, acquired any necessary supplies from the town, and then trekked back out to the outskirts of Kei Lan in order to reunie with Appa. The sky bison seemed well rested, though a bit dirty from whatever patch of earth he'd claimed as his bed for the previous night. Aang promised that he'd have Bumi's pet groomers give him a nice bath when they arrived in Omashu. As soon as all were present and accounted for, they set off on a swift flight for Omashu and King Bumi.
