As soon as the burst of energy left her fingertips, the Princess drew her hands back, allowing the crack of thunder and the bright flash to temporarily distract and disarm their enemies, perhaps confusing and blinding them. Now was the chance to escape! A shout to the others, one that they might have barely heard, was the cue to leave. With her hair whipping about her face, Azula twirled back to them, her golden eyes blazing with an angry fire. Anger at herself for failing, anger at herself for being forced to retreat, anger at her comrades, anger at these peasants who had ganged up on them..!
She ran, leaping from the trail into the dried brush that was now smoldering with sparks, dark arsenic colored smoke rising from the ground where fires were already beginning to burn. Down into the dried riverbed, she jumped with as much grace as a cat stalking prey. Her feet now hammered the soft, yet firm ground as she whistled sharply for the Basilisk lizards that had run off. Like well trained soldiers, they returned from the riverbed where they had been waiting, drinking water from pools. They came to the young women quickly, and Azula, with a fierce growl leapt on the back of the lizard nearest her. The creatures were as fast and agile as ever, spurred on even more so by the fire that they were fleeing.
It was best to run from a fight and live to conquer another a day, she always thought.
[Azula out!]

Ty Lee was flipping around, attempting to confuse them. In all honesty she should have been vomiting, with how dizzy she should have been it was amazing she kept going. But years of practice owed to the fact that Ty Lee was perfect. The scarlet skirt had just ruffled beautifully around her as she landed nimbly beside Mai. Then there was the roar as lightning sparked through the scene. Ty Lee knew that order, but had never heard it before. Now that she looked, Ty Lee noticed just how outnumbered they were. It seemed like more and more kept appearing, as she noticed the puny one cowering in the river.
"Mai!" Ty Lee whispered, her tone anxious mixed with nervousness. "Depressing Catapult!" The name was one silly title Ty Lee had given an idea that the two had concocted. Much like the one prior, that put together Ty Lee's immense acrobatics to Mai's reflexes and speed. Not thinking, she reached out. Hoping that the plan had worked, that she had grabbed Mai and spun her around before releasing her in a wide and extremely long jump. Then Ty Lee crouched the lowest to the ground she had been yet before soaring into the skies. Landing lightly on her basilisk lizard, the girl kicked it gently into an incredibly fast sprint behind Azula.
[Ty Lee out!]

The lightning strike was so quick. More quick than Gengoro could anticipate. She threw it flawlessly, almost perfectly. Still, Gengoro anticipated it’s coming, giving the split second to react. He quickly dove away from the lightning bolt. A cloud of dust and soot spread across the impact that he landed. He could feel the uncomfortable tingle of the electricity flowing thorough the leather of his sleeve. It was uncomfortable at most for him.
Tseng Wei wasn’t as fortunate. Not know for his combat awareness, he couldn’t see what was coming toward them. He dodged, but it wasn’t quick enough for his liking as a small trace of the electricity came into contact with his forearm. Enough of the electricity flowed through his arm and caused a good second degree burn to the place where it made contact. He screamed as he fell to his displeasure. He grasped his arm as he tried to nurse it. During his fit of pain, he noticed the tome. In a quick reaction, he crawled over to the book and laid atop of it.
The streak of lightning left little in it’s path. The grass obliterated, the trees burned, and the air dried. Getting up slowly to check the surrounding, Gengoro noticed the trio retreating from the fight. Gengoro picked up his sword and gave chase only for one hundred meters until realizing that chasing them was futile.
“Let it be known that I, Gengoro the Exiled of Kuni defeated you this day with my friends,” Gengoro yelled for her to hear. He turned back and saw Tseng on the ground nursing his wound.
“Tseng, are you OK?” Gengoro asked from a distance. Tseng, even though he was in pain, gave the thumbs up to Gengoro. He acknowledged it and looked for the others. He saw the girl laying next to the burning tree along with the large dog. He hurried over to her to see if she was OK. As he approached her, Jin was growling as he approached. Apparently, Jin was protecting it’s mistress from anymore types of intrusion.
“Easy big fella,” Gengoro tried to reassure Jin, “I’m not going to hurt you or her.”

The fire princess ...fled? Damn, those guys must have been better than they lead on. Reed was about to sheath his weapon when he heard a rustle come from the bush behind him. Reed turned his entire over ready to strike, before abruptly stopping himself. "I could have just stabbed you, Hibiki, what are you doing?" Reed sighed with defeat. Greatt.. He almost just decapitated a member of their team. Total. Ego. Burn.
Reed once again heard an off noise. Jin growling? Still? Reed looked over to his left after offering Hibiki a hand. Jin was guarding Jia.. It looked as just she just jumped out of a tree! Wow. Reed made a mental note NOT to tell her that. The boy made his way over to the Fire Nation guy, or Ex- Fire Nation guy - whatever he was. Reed completed a corner of a triangle that was made up of Jialing, Gengoro and Himself. Jin's hair was still raised along his back and his lip curled over his teeth. Reed walked over. " Easy Jin, you're fine, boy." He walked past Jin to Jialing offering her a hand. "....Are you okay?.." He frowned. Not being the one protecting her, or helping her for that matter, really bruised his ego. No, forget bruised - Try, permanently stabbed.

The large dog bore his teeth at the approaching man with the greasy, grimy long hair carrying the sword. He had called himself Gengoro of the Kuni and he had aided them, but Jin wasn't overly trustworthy of people who smelled bad. Also, Jialing hadn't seemed to approve of him at their first meeting.. and Jin was rather sensitive to the crazy moods of his mistress. His nose crinkled and wrinkled, his lips twitching as they revealed the filthy canines. A ridge of hair rose up along his back, caked with bits of mud and dirt, burrs and sticks in his long, wire-like coat even though he had just been brushed days ago. The dog kept his head low, his tail down in the universal language for 'back off'.. at least until Reed approached. His demeanor instantly changed at the familiar voice and smell, his head popping up with perked ears. The growling ceased, and he allowed Reed to pass without a snap or a growl.
Jialing meanwhile was still on all fours, one hand curled around her stomach as she wheezed in and out, trying to get the air back into her lungs that she had lost in the fall. Ouch.. Still, it was better than getting caught by the fire that now was engulfing the trees around them. Hm. Not exactly a good thing. She could hear Jin's growling flare up, followed by a voice telling the dog to calm down. She wanted to smirk and snort a bit at that... but right now was in a little too much pain.
Reed! She tilted her head up at him, looking rather pathetic with smudges of dirty on her face, a scrape on her chin, as gash above her eyebrow. He didn't look happy.. a bit concerned maybe. The young woman practically leapt to her feet, taking his hand to pull her up. There was hardly enough time for her to smile pathetically at him, her hair all a messed as she threw her arms around his shoulders, holding him tightly. After a moment, she let him go, but not with a smack to the side of his head. "Don't scare me like that again!"
..As if she was the one to talk!

With a side-long glance at her foes, Mai had no choice but to turn from her current endeavor to retreat as Azula was doing. Again Ty Lee wanted to flip the two of them around and again Mai conceded to the plan. A quick roll of her pale eyes showed her disapproval of the name, something tacky the peppy girl had piped up with one day. Locking hands again they maneuvered around and up, deep red and maroon robes whipping about her again with her sleeves billowing out around her arms. The ‘catapult’ did give Mai enough force to land close to her reptile and swiftly place one pointed boot in the stirrup, swinging the rest of her weight into the saddle.
In another instant the trio was leaving the unsuccessful encounter behind them. “That could have gone better.” The teen’s monotone voice murmured. She had been slightly surprised at the princess’s easy retreat. Their overall poor performance in general was stunning, despite the numbers they had come up against. Straightening her posture on the back of the basilisk lizard Mai tightened her thighs as the reptile crossed various rocks. No doubt Azula would be equally displeased with the outcome. Gazing forward, eyebrows sloping downward as Mai replayed the event in her mind, she mulled over a new strategy to trounce the rag-tag group should their paths ever cross again.
[Mai's Out.]

The pain was excruciating. The electricity was intense and the aftermath was no better. Sweat beaded from Tseng’s brow as he kept holding onto his arm. Dirt was covering him as he kept moving around. He then got his composure as he finally realized what was at stake still. The book was still exposed. While Gen and the others were pre-occupied, Tseng crawled on top of the book and grabbed his book bag. While opening it with his un-injured arm, he scooped the book with the dirt still covering it into the bag.
“Gen, a little help here,” Tseng cried out.
Meanwhile, Gengoro looked at Reed and Jialing do their form of talking to each other. She seems to be really aggravated with Reed for much of the time. Before Gengoro could intervene, he heard Tseng shout out. Reacting like he should, Gengoro rushed over to him. He looked over Tseng’s burns and identified what kind they were.
“You need to see a doctor,” Gengoro explained, “Your burns are too severe for my knowledge. We’ll need to go to the nearest town. Stand-by.”
Gengoro then walked over to Jialing while she was still talking to Reed, “My friend needs help. We need to get him to the nearest village,” Gengoro implied, “I’ll need your guy’s help to get to the nearest village since you guys are more familiar with this area than I.” He glanced over to the dog, making sure not to spook him and not get it fired up to bite him for any reason.

In an instant it all seemed to be over. The Fire Nation’s princess burst forth from the line of trees, the smell of smoke trailing behind her. The acrobat and knife-thrower were not far behind and their exit was flawless. Tsuya did not want to let the girls escape so easily but also knew a pursuit would be unwise. Perhaps now their party could regroup and sort out who the two strangers were. It had been nagging at the warrior ever since they had jumped into the fray. Thin lips still etched deeply in a frown, Tsuya turned to follow behind Reed to where Jialing was.
Coming up to the small cluster of figures silently, watching the short verbal exchange between Jialing and Reed. Stonily she stood, trying to massage her shoulder as best as possible with her armor still on. The effect of the pink girl’s punches was still fresh in her mind and a shiver ran down her spine to think how easily she could take away a person’s power over their own body.
A somewhat pitiful cry for help caught in the girl’s ear. Tsuya turned to see one of the Fire Nation men, if that was what they were, injured. The other made a request for help, at which point Tsuya’s hazel eyes fell to Jialing. The sea green fabric of .her sleeves made a soft rustle as she folded her arms across her chest languidly. The two females had judged the strangers as dangerous before, and the fact that they had tracked her and the others made her wary still. But the men had stood up to the princess, and now needed help in return. Simply ignoring their call for aid could not be ignored. “I think we’re slightly obligated to.” Tsuya observed. “Your added numbers helped overwhelm the Fire Nation princess.” Looking at Jialing she added, “Of course I think there are a few questions we’re curious about, or rather I am at least.”

Hibiki was still cowering on the ground near Reed, who had nearly attacked him. Thankfully, he hadn't, otherwise Hibiki would have been dead or maimed. Hibiki was breathing heavily, and quickly. He closed his eyes, put his head on his hands, and tried to slow his breathing. This wasn't good for him. He slowly began to breathe normally.
You're fine... You're fine... you weren't hurt, you survived, it's all good. Everybody else is fine...
He got up, and began to move back towards the group.
Everybody is f-
And then he saw the man on the ground, writing in pain from the lightning strike. He gasped, looking at the wound. Blackened flesh on the arm was a scary thing. It took him back to when his own village was destroyed. He was paralyzed, looking at the injury for a moment, before he quickly turned away, back to looking at Reed. He had come to think of Reed as a figure to follow (if not on the subject of love). He looked up, trying to forget about the wound that the man had suffered. He'd follow Reed's lead.

Jin kept an wary eye on the two strangers though the ridge of fur had since fallen from his back. He had taken up position next to Jialing, leaning into her thigh. The woman's head snapped to the side as the tall, large and muscular man with the stringy, oily, long hair approached them. She immediately scowled at him, the sneer crinkling her nose as she practically growled at him. Jialing took a step towards him, her hands falling to fists as he side as she opened her mouth to speak.
Why should we help you? You stalked us! We don't owe you anything!
But the voice of Reason, A.k.a. Tsuya spoke up. The wire haired woman shoot a glare at the Kyoshi warrior, whose face was flawless despite the fighting. She turned her lips up defiantly as she stared at the woman. Her eyebrow twitched.
Jialing hated voices of reason.
She practically growled at Tsuya in answer before she gave the man another glare. "Reed." She commanded.. "Help 'em." She whipped around without a word, storming off to the other side of the road, overlooking the dry riverbed with it's scraggly bush and dried leaves. Around them, the fires the Princess had started were safely dying down but smoke choked the area. She folded her arms across her chest, shifting her weight to one foot. In her mind, she was examining the mental map in her head. They weren't near any good cities. Back tracking to the boy's village was out of the question.. they were maybe.. halfway to the rebellion's outpost in that tiny village.. but they might not have the resources to treat such burns..
"We're so screwed.." She mumbled.

Gengoro did an about face as he turned around to walk toward Tseng Wei. As he was walking, he had the sudden change of attitude the girl had as they spoke. What made her change her mind? Was it because she needed the extra muscle to ward off the Fire Nation soldiers nearby? Was it for companionship? Was it just for anything? In any case, Gengoro let off an appreciative grin as he walked over to his buddy.
“Thank you,” he thought in his head as he walked away from her.
He approached Tseng Wei as the one called Reed got to him soon. Tseng was having trouble getting to his feet with the wound he picked up. Tseng hoisted him over his shoulder as gently as he could as well as picking up the book bag he was carrying, not even bothering what curiously could be inside.
“What did they say?” Tseng mumbled. “We are taking you to a village nearby to get your wounds checked. We will be with them until otherwise. So in the meantime, mind your manners. We have women present,” Gengoro exclaimed.
“Oh? Is that suppose to be a good thing for you?” Tseng mumbled some more with a smile. Gengoro gave off a little sigh, “Nothing of the sort. Remember, we are gentlemen even though we don’t act like it most of the time. Just remember, mind your manners.”
Another thought went through Gengoro’s head as he contemplated his thoughts.
“This is going to be a challenge for me,” Gengoro thought, “I got women around. A LARGE challenge indeed. I hope not to at least say something stupid to at least made me look back in front of my new guests.”
Gengoro and Tseng Wei have left the thread[/u]

As Hibiki had decided to follow Reed, he immediately followed him over to the man who was hurt when Reed moved. Jia had apparently decided to help the two men despite the whole stalking thing. Hibiki didn't really care, and it didn't really register in his mind that he did or didn't care, just that he wanted to stay close to somebody who did or didn't care, and who knew why or why not they did or didn't care.
He was pretty clueless about much. Living in mines for a while does that sort of thing to you.
Hibiki stared, transfixed again, at the wound on the man's arm, as Reed lifted him up. The man seemed to be at peace with the situation despite the obvious pain. He and his comrade, the big warrior, spoke to each other in low tones. Hibiki walked just behind Reed, a little to the side, looking around him to the bigger warrior. Who was he? What was he doing here? He wasn't a bender, but then again, neither were any of his companions. How could they not be captured by the Fire Nation when his entire village of benders had been? He felt exceptionally weak in that moment. He sighed, and dejectedly looked down at the ground, trudging after Reed. At least HE knew what he was doing.
