"That'll be nice," Ryota nodded and said quietly, looking across the table to his honorary and honorable father-in-law affirmatively. He saw nothing wrong with this family he was marrying into, though he hoped his strongest his and her family would one day meet in the same numbers as at present, perhaps even more once later generations married and bore offspring. One last look around the table made him smile.
He turned to look at Unpai and her husband saying they would leave, his smile since descending to a slight smirk. It was a pleasure to meet them, as they were fairly entertaining, even if they did promote a rather unsettling image of married life. Again a pulse of fear quaked in the pit of his stomach anticipating a possible future, but he saw no reason why their life would end up that way if they really tried. No doubt, he'd spend the next few days chewing on that thought-- spirits knew the boat ride would be boring as heck, most of the time. Warmly, Misui's sister and brother-in-law were hugged by Ryota, treating them like the family they had become.
After the couple had left and Renji tottered off to bed, Ryota turned to his beloved and held his arm around her waist. Perhaps contemplating a major change to her life while also anticipating joyous delights, Ryota could understand if she felt mixed emotions over the matter; and he respected that. Everything Misui did, every step she took and every choice she made, would be honored by the southern lover who would soon be her husband. "Do you want me to stay?" Kissing her on the bridge of her nose, Ryota pressed his forehead to hers. His eyes were glassy as emotions ran high. "Or do you want one last night alone?"

It was a lot to swallow and now that she was forced to take the bitter pill she felt less scared and more hollow, did Ryota feel this way when he left his home in the south to go fight against the fire nation? Many in the south never dreamed of sailing beyond the icy waters, those who did were few, those who truly lusted for such were in shorter demand. Right now it felt that the only thing keeping her tied to reality was Ryota and his arm around her waist.
Sheepishly she regarded him with all the gusto of a new born saber tooth kitten, his eyes were on her, they always seemed to be, she liked that. A flutter of a kiss later they were merely a breath away from one another and she watched him as if he had the answers to all the questions she wasn't sure she should ask, in the end it would be she who got to decide if he stayed or left. Honestly she didn't care too much one way or another, if he needed he was free to leave but there was one thing she knew she didn't want. Her hands moved from her lap, up against Ryota's chest and finally resting over his shoulders holding them together fearing he might leave her if she managed to respond the wrong way.
" Don't go" Misui parted her lips letting the small utterance through before they pushed further her mouth making contact with Ryota's her arms tightening around him, her entire body shrugging up against his. She didn't care where the night took them but if it would prolong her stay in the north, even in her own mind, she didn't care. Being with Ryota locked them in their own little world where he was her everything and she was his. Soon their lives would be different, and strange, at least from her perspective. keeping him around was just what she needed at the moment. Hopefully he'd heed her, she didn't want to be alone.

"Don't go...?"
Mirroring her words like an echo in a lonely canyon, Ryota let them fade to nothing just as quickly and let silence take over. Even when talking it out before their big day might have been the best choice, Ryota was comfortable letting their bodies do the talking. Peace was comforting, and of this they were in no short supply right now.
"I won't..."
It was at moments like these when he felt powerful, like a true protector with Misui in his embrace when she needed him most. He felt strongly she didn't want him to leave, knowing her silent words spoke well just what she couldn't say. Similarly, there weren't many words Ryota could gather either.
"I won't. Never."
At least now he knew where the night would best be spent, perhaps drawing out their last hours in the North and making her feel a little easier; thus, with her still in the graps of his arms, he led her down the path they trod the night he proved his devotion.
He really did expect her to change her mind any minute and say she wasn't ready, which he would have understood through all the clouds of disappointment that would bring. She promised much of the same he did, however, and he could only hope she would kept her word.
They were in the bedroom before long, after his train of thought distracted him from any particular notion of time. There Ryota let her go, but he didn't expect she'd wander far. If there was anywhere she wanted to be, he figured, it was right there with him and in her own room. Ryota smiled and chuckled quietly, perhaps nervously given the circumstances, allowing tensions to be waived or tightened; but in the end, he said nothing else until she decided to open her mouth.

Ryota seemed to be a sheepish man, easy going and fun loving, but when he spoke to her in that way, she felt so safe and her head nestled comfortably into his jaw, she closed her eyes tightly wanting the night to never end, she'd stay in the north pole with Ryota and she wouldn't have to leave and experience who knows what in the outside world, She didn't want to go but she didn't want him to leave. There was a balance of things, an order she desired and hated all the same.
Leaving would mean changing her life as she knew it but staying would mean losing Ryota, it wasn't easy to let either go. It helped somewhat that she knew Shai would be here when she returned, if she returned. Ryota on the other hand was more of a variable. Maybe that was why she was so intent on keeping him where she could see him, feel him, touch him, know he wasn't a dream or a part of her imagination.
He was flesh and blood.
Breathing and feeling.
She didn't want to loose the person that had become her everything
And so she knew there wasn't really a choice. Leaving, staying, the right answer was Ryota, whatever that meant to her. The pendant, which softly applied a warm heat to her neck, was her commitment to the man she barely knew but felt such a strong attachment to.
He was as good as her husband, she wanted to live out her life with him so she would have to leave her old life behind.
They moved into her room and as it stood Misui remained silent, there were no words specific enough to express how she was feeling so she didn't even try to come up with hollow sweet nothings. Her lips found Ryota's and hungrily she took comfort from his presence and the feel of him close to her, it was all she could ask of him at this point. He would never forsake her for backing out yet she felt she couldn't. They were given this chance, all to perfect, she'd rather regret a decision then spend her life wondering what if's and maybe's.
