Nakamura looked at the great city of Zhy, his lower jaw dragging the ground. "It's so BIG..." he whispered. That hurt, saying something. His throat was dry, and they'd had no water for some time now. The wind rolled around on the flat ground, kicking up dust, and obscuring his view of the city. The towers rose above the ground so high that he couldn't see where they ended.
He looked around the city's outer wall. It was huge, tall and surrounding the whole city. He wondered how many Earthbenders it had taken to lift it out of the ground. Hundreds, surely, and hundreds of earthbenders were here, probably.
He looked over at Raine. They were about a mile away from the city. "Hey Raine, didn't you say that there were lots of earthbenders by these coastal ports to guard them? I haven't seen a single one today... I mean, I guess they don't want to be found, but surely they would still be around, yes?"
He was slightly confused, and his face conveyed that, as he turned his gaze back to the great city.

Raine coughed on some dust, “Earth Kingdom Soldiers usually are always in site of where they're suppose to be. My father said that it's just like...that. Maybe they’re-” Just as Raine spoke a large bang went off with the accompaniment of another one….And another one….And another one... “What on earth?” Raine looked towards Zhy, “No wonder no one’s here, Nakamura,” Raine started not taking her eyes off of the city, “It looks like there’s a celebration. They must be having a festival!” Raine said starting to skip to wards the city…Yes, she skipped.
Raine and Nakamura finally reached the city. “Hey Nakamura, want do you think about staying here for a little bit?” Raine asked walking in through the gates, since no one was presently guarding them, “This is so cool! I’ve never been to one of these before.”

Nakamura's eyes went wide with wonder as they heard the booms. "A celebration! YAHOO!" he exclaimed, jogging after Raine, his eyes wide with excitement running towards the city.
As they got there, the city was even bigger than before. He grinned. "I haven't been to one either..."
He walked into the city, gradually becoming uneasy. There was nobody on the streets anywhere, and no sounds except the constant booms, which were now louder and closer. The streets seemed deserted. In fact, NOTHING was there... just houses... the dust blew through the town, which had almost no lights on. Nakamura scratched his head, a quizzical look on his face. "Uh... Raine...? What is this...?" He walked further into the town, seeing nobody... and hearing booms. He walked towards the sounds... maybe they would answer his questions.
He looked around. The ground was completely dirt. There was a single person outside of a house, sweeping off the porch. Gandalan quickly ran over. "Sir! Sir!" The man looked up, then his eyes widened.
"Water tribe! WATER TRIBE?!"
He ran off towards the booms. Nakamura raised an eyebrow and looked at Raine. "What did I say?" he sighed, and walked towards the big booms.

As the man screamed Raine stepped back, "What? What!?" She said/ semi mocked as the man went running off to wards the boom.
She soon looked to Nakamura. When he said "....What did I say?..." Raine shrugged her shoulders following him. "I think that guy is either 'A' is not at all right in the head...Or 'B' he had waaayy too much cafine this morning.." Raine said slightly giggling at her own statement. "I crack my self up." She said shaking her head.
Raine and Nakmaura walked for a few minutes. The booms got louder and then there were more screaming people. Rine had had enough, "What is it with you people!? You don't see me running around and flaying my arms up in teh air yelling 'Earth Kingdom, Earth Kingdom!' " Raine yelled as she payed no attentiopn to the gaurds coming up behind them.

He chuckled briefly at her joke. He walked down the road, hearing screaming now. That wasn't a good sign. Maybe the festival had gone wrong? He didn't know... but he was fairly uneasy about all this...
Then Raine, started yelling at them. He was about to ask her to stop, simply because he didn't want to make a scene, but chances of both objectives were dashed as he heard the old man's voice. "That's them! That's them right there! Water folk."
He turned a bit. "Hm?"
Not the best question to ask. The club caught him full in the face, slamming him to the ground. He saw the same happen to Raine, dimly, in his somwhat troubled eyes.
He groaned, and tried to push himself up, but felt the crack of the club again, this time, on the right side of his back. He cried out in pain. He heard a laugh from above him. "If you stay still, then I won't hit you." Blood ran down Nakamura's face, and fell to the ground.
He gulped, and looked over at Raine... who was, at the moment...

Raine yelped in pain. She had also been hit with a club at the shoulder. Raine fell to the ground and held her eyes shut. ‘Get up right now, Raine’ She thought to her self. Raine struggled to her feet. Her eyes were filled with tears, but she didn’t let one roll down her cheek.
Raine spun around to Nakamura as he was hit again. Raine’s eyes widened then glared, “Don’t you ever hit my friends! Ever!” Raine screamed. Her eyes scanned over the man. He took hard blows to his opponents, meaning he probably wasn’t really a fast fighter. Raine charged at him but her effort wasn’t enough. To her surprise he was fast. Almost faster than her. Raine fell to the ground and just laid there. It hurt so bad she could hardly move. Her shoulder was bruised and her stomach had a large slash on it. “Nakamura,” She said blinking, “Just do what they say.”

He saw her fall to the ground, with bruises on her shoulder and arm. She groaned, and said, "Nakamura, just do what they say..." He nodded sadly, his face, head, and body aching from the hits. The men around them laughed, and took positions around them, just in case they tried to run.
By now of course, they'd attracted quite a crowd. The earth people surrounded them and whispered, while the guards created a perimeter. One of the guards said loudly, "See? This is what happens when we find people! They are now ours! Do you understand? You'll all do what we say, and you'll like it!" The people murmured, and looked at the two on the ground with a small amount of sympathy.
Nakamura looked at Raine. "What are they going to do with us?" he whispered.

“I-I don’t know,” Raine exhaled trying to stand up. She got to all fours and tried to get past the intense pain. Raine’s stomach hurt so much. The cut was bleeding on to her clothes, but mostly her shirt. Her eyes were blood shot and she put her arm over her waist, “Please, what do you what to let us go?” She said, while her eyes released tears. “Just tell us what.”
Raine had another idea, “Can you take us to the person in charge? We can work some thing out. So no one has to get hurt any more,” Raine pleaded. Raine! What are you doing!? Don’t show them weakness! Don’t make them think you’re defenseless! You can still fight! You don’t know what they’ll do!You don't know what they'll say! Her thoughts yelled at her.

The man looked down at Raine, and snarled. "We AREN'T letting you go, you stupid girl."
When she asked if she could be taken to the person in charge, he lifted his club, and hit her in the back, hard. Nakamura gasped. "B-But she didn't do any- OWWWWW!" The man hit him, the pain biting into his back,
He looked down at them angrily. "You aren't in any position to bargain with us. Keep quiet." He turned back to the other guards, looking around at the people. Some of the guards left to shoo the people away now. The man turned back to look the the two a moment, then shook his head and talked to the other guards. Nakamura couldn't hear what they were saying.
Nakamura groaned, then looked over at Raine. Why did he have to do that? She doesn't deserve this...
But he couldn't help her right now. He just sat there, the pain still aching throughout his back. Everything hurt right now, and his head still spun; he could hardly see straight.
While the guards were talking, and probably distracted, he decided to talk to Raine for a few minutes. "R-Raine..." he whispered. "Are you... are you okay?"

Raine shrieked as she fell to her knees and then fell silently to the ground. Raine just didn’t move and let tears run out of her eyes. It hurt so much; she didn’t bother to get up. Raine just let out some breaths and kept control of them. Her eyes gradually closed and she just laid there. Raine heard a distant voice “...Raine...” It started “…….Are…ok?” It ended as it echoed. Raine couldn’t make out who it was. She ignored it while her mind yelled at her over and over and over again. Raine! Get up! You get up right NOW! Don’t you give up on your self! Do not give up! Raine! Raine tried so hard to silence these voices. But it could not be done. Don’t give in! Don’t give up! Fight! Stand! Live!

As he waited for an answer, he saw her crying. She couldn't hardly even breathe right, or that's what it sounded like. She was completely limp on the ground.
How bad is she hurt? he wondered. He looked over at the men, and slowly got to his knees. They didn't seem to mind, so long as he didn't try anything. He walked on his knees to Raine, just a distance of a few feet. He nudged her shoulder. "Raine... are you okay? RAINE!" She still didn't hear him apparently.
He turned her over, so that she was facing up. He put his hand behind her head, just raising it off the ground ever so slightly. He whispered. "RAINE! RAINE! Are you okay?" He was tearing up now, not from the pain, but because his friend was hurt, and he didn't want to see her this way.

Raine groaned and sharply exhaled. She slowly placed a hand on her stomach and her arm jolted. A sharp pain went though her entire body as she squeezed her eyes shut. “Nakamura,” She whispered, “I’m fine…R-Really…” She said opening her blood shot eyes and trying to sit up, only to have another jolt of pain dart through her body. Raine shook her head as she sat on her knees. Her head hung down and her eyes not moving from the blood on her stomach. ‘How could I let this happen?…I know better than to just walk in to a city I know nothing about…This is my fault....I should have know better…I should have known..I never thought this could ever happen….How on this earth did it happen!? We’re just travelers..’ Raine blinked a few times then took another breath to calm her self down.

He let her up, but kept a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. She was obviously in quite a bit of pain. Or at least that's what it looked like. He sighed. "Whatever you say..."
He looked over at the men. Why are they doing this? We haven't even DONE anything... we just walked into town...
He gulped, and looked at the ground. What are we going to do? There's not water around here, so we can't bend our way out. Raine already tried diplomacy... that doesn't work. No friendly people here either, apparently... so now what?
The men walked back over, seemingly having reached a decision about whatever their problem was. The man who seemed to be the leader had the men surround them. "Cmon you two." The men waved the clubs threateningly.
Gandalan stumbled to his feet. "C-cmon Raine..." he said, stuttering. They walked behind the leader, with the other en on either side of them, and behind them.

Raine held on to Nakamura as they “asked” for them to follow. She stumbled along as they walked. ‘This is my fault. This is my entire fault. All my fault. None of this would have happened if I didn’t run in to the village. If I didn’t think they were having a festival. I put Nakamura in danger. I put my self in danger…How could I do some thing like that? Why? Why!?’ Raine was about to yell at the top of her lungs. She wanted so badly to just beat those guards down and make them yell and cry for their lives. What would she want to do? Would she have no mercy or let them go? Raine didn’t want to answer that question. It was too horrible to even think of let alone answer to her self. Raine looked to Nakamura. He looked hurt. More then her, and she was crying. Raine straightened up and let go of Nakamura, walking with out letting off the little essence of pain.

Nakamura trudged along, with Raine sort of leaning on him. He couldn't blame her; she'd been beaten pretty badly. He gulped, walking along.
The people along the road looked at the soldiers fearfully, and a few even dared to glare at them. This obviously happened quite a bit. The people watched as they walked along, and some of them, at least when the soldiers had passed, looked at the two helpless teens with sympathy.
Raine let go of him after regarding him sadly for a moment. She choked back a sob, and walked along on her own. She still looked like she was going to explode...
He looked at her. It was my job to protect her... I was supposed to be the one to help HER... this is my fault... I should have realized that those were fireworks... anything to do with fire is BAD...
He put an arm around her, as she choked back another sob. He smiled weakly. "It's okay Raine... we'll be fine..."
It sounded weak and not very important, but he had to try his best to calm her down.
