Dong Feng lisented to his brothers with quiet anger. He hated when Din acted like this. He was furious, and righticiously angry, but making a foe with Vishnu was not a smart thing. Still he could understand Din. It wasn't fair for any of the brothers to suffer this. The nomads were peace-loving, to be an unnessarry sacifice to an arrogant pigeon was certinally a reason for divine anger.
But Dong Feng was a prudent god. He will not pick a fight with god of reincaration.
"Din! Enough with your temper tantrum. You're acting like a spoiled brat!" Shouted Dong Feng, the tempreture dropped fast and Dong's Breath steamed.
"Picking a fight with Vishnu is most unwise. We need friends not foes. And I think he would sympathize with us. I understand your grief my stormy brother. Have not I, wept bitterly for my people?" Dong Feng asked to Din with one pair of hands on his hips.
"Don't act like you're all alone. I'm with you as well, I just believe that we need to be wise when handling Agni. Do you agree?"

As wind tried to blow him back, Vishnu kept his stance, although he did get blown back slightly. He sighed, his cool temper warming up, and turning into a mild anger. “You would do well to listen to your brother,” Vishnu said, his lion’s eyes now drawing together, “My job is also a preserver, I maintain balance. Do you know what would happen to balance if a spirit died? Risk of losing the master design would occur.” Vishnu was certain the spirits knew what the master design was. Specially created, it maintained order in each realm. It kept the world more or less under a stability of good and evil. Vishnu’s voice lowed, “If a spirit were to die as such, the only way to restore balance would be for yet another spirit to die. Preferable, I would not like that to happen!” he roared, his voice being raised near the end. Vishnu remembered back to when he drew out Sozin’s evils. He regretted that, it was not something to be proud of, but he always felt it was necessarily. That was, balance could be restored by the reappearance of the Avatar.
Vishnu turned to Dong Feng, “You speak well,” he said. Vishnu closed his eyes, and then spoke to both of the spirits, “Agni had many supporters, she is not alone in this fight. By picking a fight with her spirits of all affiliation will be drawn to battle.” Vishnu paused, gathering breath, “I will play on both sides, remember that. I fight on neither good nor evill.”

Din listened angrily to both spirits. He disliked being denied, and he disliked greatly that Dong Feng would not go along with him. He glared mainly, however, at Vishnu. If you were neutral, and wanted to keep balance, you wouldn't have let my people die, you heartless bastard. However, faced with the power of two spirits against his own, even in his anger, Din was forced back to the reality that he could not do all on his own.
However, he was still angry. He snapped his beak at the cold air. "It would be WISE to KILL her, while we have the chance," he said.
He sighed, however. "I do not see this balance." His voice was normal again. "If there is balance, then why are my people dead? A spirit for the complete genocide of a people: this is even, don't you think?" He was grasping at straws, trying to ask questions he knew Vishnu couldn't answer straightly. But it didn't matter. He was beaten, and he knew it. He sighed again.
"This matters little. Never mind my questions. And I apologize for my anger... but I will go through with this." He stared at Vishnu. "Forgive me Vishnu, but I think that perhaps you have grown too busy in these years of war to see what is happening on the earth. If you truly wish to keep the balance, you must act now to turn the tide on the Fire Nation. Surely you must see this?" He might have overstepped his bounds, but he cared not. He was still angry.

The spirit narrowed his eyes and sighed. “Din why do your have to be so incorrigible. Agni is a phoenix! You can't just…kill her. And without the sun, everything will start to freeze over and die. Please if you want revenge, which I will happily assist. You need to have a better idea then ‘Kill the sun-goddess’. Well anyway I’m going to take a nap I’m done with this trifling matter, its giving me wrinkles…and I can’t have that.” Dong Feng got off his rock and stretched and running his fingers through his vaporous mane, “Good night Vishnu and Din, it was a pleasure scheming with you. Well sort of, if Din hasn’t ruined it with his whining. Oh well, I’ll see you later then.”
Dong Feng’s hooves clacked on the ground making hollow noises in the clear air. Dong stretched his long arms and though to himself I could talk to the spirit of dreams, maybe he’ll work with me on giving some nightmares to Ozai The spirit laid in his soft snowy meadow and gazed into the world of mortals

Vishnu stared at Din with a solemn face. Vishnu wouldn’t tolerate the foolish spirit’s words anymore; it was simply one step too far. Din was challenging the entire legion of spirits. Vishnu opened his mouth, and a roar erupted from all sides, north, east, south, and west. The land in the Spirit Realm shook, and it was clear Vishnu was through with negotiating. If he didn’t do something now, Din would ultimately ruin all of Vishnu’s attempts to regain balance.
Vishnu waited until Dong Feng had left, before turning his golden eyes back on Din. “Have you ever once though about what would have happened had Sozin not committed the genocide of the Air Nomads?” spoke Vishnu, in both a deep and menacing tone, “Impudent owl, you never once thought about that, did you?”
Vishnu lowered his voice and the grounds stopped shaking. “Imagine the state the world would be in at this time.” He said, “The battlefield is mostly on even ground, the Fire Nation just lost horribly. Think of what would have happened if the genocide had occurred on the Water Tribes. The Avatar would yet be frozen.”
A breeze shot through the Spirit Realm, blowing Vishnu’s mane. “Destiny will even out uneven ground. The Air Nomads died for a reason, I will tell you this, it will not be in vain.”

Din was struck by the simple fact that everything Vishnu said was foolproof. It all made sense. They'd been singled out for destruction simply by being the ones with the Avatar at the time. They'd probably died with this knowledge, something he in his rage couldn't comprehend. Dong Feng, being friends with Vishnu, had probably already been told. But then again, he didn't get angrily very easily.
What a fool he was.
Din sank down, perching on a rock, his eyes dark and thoughful. "Forgive me, Vishnu. I see it now." But he was not done. Not near done. His people were dead and gone, except for Aang, and there was never going to be another Air Nomad. Din, essentially, was now useless. His only job now would be to make sure that summer turned into fall, and to make sure fall left when winter's time came. And perhaps to sprinkle some rain here and there. But that was it.
But what about Agni.
"Vishnu," he said, "You said something about Agni marching out with Azula... am I not allowed to impede her intervention in this war? I see your logic now... I understand that she may not have done this in the first place. But if she is allowed to intervene..."
He stopped a moment. "Vishnu, you don't see things as I do. My people were people I loved. I was attached to them. While I'm sorry for acting like that, you must understand I had reason..." He smiled sadly. "If Agni is allowed to intervene in this war, then Ba Seng Sei will fall. At least allow me to stop her from fighting in that battle. If the Fire Nation is truly meant to take Ba Seng Sei, then they can surely do so without the flaming chicken, can't they?" He was begging Vishnu. He understood the older spirit's wisdom now. Being the youngest of the spirits wasn't always a good thing...

Vishnu’s mane blew in the air that came fro within the Spirit Realm. He was pleased at Din’s awakening, though he knew that the other spirit still had plans for the fire nation, and more importantly, Agni. He sensed the anger quiet inside Din, but there was another spark, Din would not go down quietly. Vishnu expected as much, some spirits were feisty, Din was such. His thoughts became realization the next moment, as Din asked if he could stop Agni from participating in the second siege of Ba Sing Se.
“Your anger blinds you.” Vishnu spoke, “You want to take revenge. I know that. To he end of time, the memories of your people will loom inside your head.” Vishnu closed his eyes and opened his third eye, the one on his forehead. With this, he could see the happenings on the Mortal Realm, and more importantly, the happenings in the Fire Nation camp. After a few moments, his third eye disappeared, and his other two opened.
“Azula and Agni have already made their appearance. More interestingly, Azula has taken command.” Vishnu sighed and he knew what Din had spoken was true, if Agni participated; Ba Sing Se would indeed fall. The question, now, was if Agni would participate. Nodding his head, Vishnu spoke to Din, “Very well, stop Agni, but don’t make your presence known. I will be lurking in the Soul Lands, do nothing more than to stop Agni.” A long pause followed, as Vishnu finished, “I will be with you. Say my name, and I will come.”

Din nodded his assent, agreeing with Vishnu. He was right. Din would hold a grudge for the rest of his life against Agni, perhaps longer. But he wouldn't try to kill the phoenix... he wouldn't be able to until her next molt anyway. He would simply stop her from participating in the attack. This would be the extent to which he combated her... but he had confidence that he could stop her. He had to take an extra second to realize that he might be wrong: she might not even want to take part in the battle. But he had to make sure. He wouldn't let more people die because of her... he thought, anyway.
He looked up at Vishnu, and sighed. "Then I will be on my way, Vishnu." He looked down, apologetic. "I apologize again for my mistake. Forgive me..."
He spread his wings, and took flight into the air. "Do not anticipate a call from me Vishnu! I'm certain I can handle the flaming chicken." And he was gone...
