Want an OC in the main plot? Post here!

EDIT: Since this idea seems to be agreed upon, this thread is now where you will state that you would like your OC in the main plot, interacting with the big canon characters. Read the post(s) below to get a sense of the idea, and post an explaination of who your OC is, what they'll be doing, what NPCs/plot point they'll be replacing or providing, and provide a reasoning.

So, I've been getting the idea that it would be cool to have the OCs interact with the main canon characters. Now, normally this behavior would be Sueish, but I have a plan on how to do it! Instead of randomly encountering our heroes/villains/antiheroes, they could essentially "replace" more minor characters.

For example, I've talked to Teiu about maybe using his professor character as a replacement for Professor Zei, and maybe giving him a sand nomad guide or two. Or, alternatively, the sand nomads who try to take Appa could be replaced with some of our own. The replacement doesn't have to be exact or one-for-one. The characters would just have to work in a similar role as their original canon counterparts.

Ultimately, the goal would be to get the OCs involved in the main plot in some minor way. In most cases, it might not last for more than a small role in one thread, but they would still be involved and I find that cool.

Anyway, that's my idea. What do you guys think about it? Good idea? Bad idea? Holy hell, what in the name of beef jerky were you thinking idea?

Blargh! I've been toying with the idea of worming Ikki into very minor roles like your suggestions. I loves it! Sounds like a plan, hombre.

I like the idea. Maybe Aang and co can meet the FDs before the leave the EK...maybe Aang could give them tips to make their 'airbender' look more believable?? ;D

Heh, overall I'd say good idea, but the selection process for such cameos should probably be pretty picky. Whoever gets to interact with the group, they have to effectively replace the function of one of the lesser canons, and then dettach themselves when the RP is done. Can't have any more clingers slowing the Gaang down more than they already are. ^^;

I think Muqali mentioned having some Sand Nomads leading them to the Library eventually, which would be a good spot for the OC Muqali and Teiu's professor, and concievably even Manju and Nasrin if they get back to the desert in time.

Though I'm keeping Iiky far, FAR away from the gang. Both because there's no one he could quite replace from their adventures in the show, and I think he might scar them emotionally (and likely physically too) for life. ;D

I agree the selection process should be picky. I think the criteria should be that the OC(s) in question should be active. It'll be bad enough that the sheer number of characters in the thread will slow things down, a semi-active OC would only make things more cumbersome.

I think Toph Norris, KFAJ and Miss "I WILL END YOU!" Katara would beg to differ on the second one.

But yes, there should be a selection process. Maybe there would be an application thread where people would fill in 1) What minor canon(s) they'd be replacing 2) What character(s) would be replacing them, and 3) Why they would make a good replacement. This would, of course, need mod approval and whatnot, so that's just a rough outline.

I would, however, like to leave it open for even new members to get involved here if their RPing abilities are up to snuff. We have seen a decline in new members lately. If it's a matter of them leaving, after a certain period of absence, their characters would be NPCed so the thread could progress.

Again, this is still a rough idea, and you mods would have to approve it/flesh it out.

I personally don't think we need any sort of application process.. more so of a "Are you anywhere near the Avatar's threads when a cameo spot is open? Yes? Do you fit the role? Go ahead." ...but I have no plans on involving myself in the Aang gang so.. *shrug* My input is thus null and void.

I agree with Jia in that question. I dont think an entire application should be done for minor canon exchanges. But it is a Aden said, the progress of the Aangang cannot be slowed. I guess that the person interested on it just should just ask to Aden, Muqali, Tophy and Katara about it and grant that he/she will be as active as needed before the thread ends.

o.0 I thought that FS Ava-verse Main Storyline =/= Ava-verse Main Storyline. They're your characters, but I don't see why you couldn't divulge from the plot that had been put up. >>

We are diverging from it, but not too much. I mean, we can change a bit, but ultimately the canon characters need to act in generally the same way they do in the canon or it's OOC. We can change up the scenarios they face a bit, but their goals, thought process, etc will be the same and therefore result in similar actions by them, though they won't be entirely the same.

Anyway, yeah, a real application process or anything is probably going to far. But anyway, should I start another thread for "application" or should we just use this thread?

On a slight side-note, is our Katara MIA again? It's been a while since I've seen her around and she's kinda overdue for a post if we want to have Aang Earthbending and ready for BSS.

As for the Application thread, I suppose the 4 (3?) of us can just keep it up-to-date with the Gaang's location and their future RPing needs.
