So, Xia is soon going to get a cow for her own in the Flame Dancers. Why a cow? Cow provides milk to drink or sell. She can provide calves to sell and make money off of if bred to a bull. She can carry Xia and Tarak's things, as they are a small family. She would also be able to carry Tarak when he gets a little older. She and Xia would be companions and mother each other's children. It would teach Xia how to run her own "household" by managing money and taking care of her and her child. I also need ideas of how Xia comes by the cow. Perhaps a gift from the caravan, since the cow's so useful? Or do the five girls save up money to buy it from her? Or should Xia work hard for the caravan to scrape up the money to buy a cow herself? Here's a few names I was thinking of: Jiaying: Chinese, "Household Flurishing," I will have to check with Yuet Ping on the meaning.Ratu: Javanese/Indonesian, "Queen." Bethari, Javanese, "Goddess." Dwi, Indonesian/Javanese, "Second Child." Any suggestions? This would probably be a base for what she looks like.... not the traditional American/European cow en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Surabhi_Cow.jpg

It's too bad we haven't seen a cow and whatever it's crossed with in the Avatarverse. I think how she's to acquire it should either be the caravan giving it to her for better RPing, or earn it herself, for some good character growth. And as for the name, I like Ratu. It sounds pretty and Avatar cow-esque. ^^;
Well, there's my two cents on the cow, Xia. Hope it's worth something.

Ying means 'Victorious/Jade/Eagle' when said in different tones, would Victorious be good? Jia has over fifteen different meanings but the one you might be thinking of is probably 'Excellent' or 'Tool'?
'Household Flourishing' is spelled 'Bo Jiating'. 'Jiating' is Household and 'Bo' is Flourishing or prosperous.
'Jiaying' means Excellent Victorious.

Yuet Ping -- Figured it means something different. I'm not going back to THAT place again =D I'll stick with the Javanese names, thanks though.
Mesh -- Well, considering a cow is pretty sacred in India, I'm sure it's safe to say cows are allowed.
Moreso, I do allow plain horses in the RPG, too... and Cham had the idea of a "zebra cow." =D

I like Ratu, it's pretty and simple. And she can be yelled after with RA RA! which is just plain fun to yell.

Well, technically...
Bessie is a diminutive of Elizabeth, and Elizabeth is Hebrew, which is acceptable to take names from in our RPG... but Elizabeth is too Anglicanized/Americanized, so we can't use it...
So close.
Tch, I'd rather something that was closer to either South Asian or Middle Eastern than anything Japanese or even Chinese (unless it was a good Chinese name).

If you're going middle eastern, why not Tikva? It's Hebrew for hope, or so I have read.

That shoulds like a cow name. Kinda like the avatar equivalent off Bessie

I agree with Kulap. It sounds very cow-ish and a lot like Bessie.
