Name: Hebirei Dangan
Age: 16 years
Group: Water Tribe Citizens
Gender: Male
Nation: Northern Water Tribe
Bender: Yes
Appearance: He is partially muscular, and dark-skinned, but for a water tribe member, he would be considered light-skinned, it is kind of copper-colored skin. His arm-muscles are the most defined, and his chest and belly are not very muscular. His hair is sepia and somewhat long, and he keeps it tied back in a wolf-tail. He is about 5'5" and 155 lbs. From his right cheek-bone back to his upper-jaw there is a scar from when he was little. He has blueish-greenish eyes. He has a sort of long face, along with small ears, and a straight nose. Also he has rather big eyes, smallish lips, and thin eyebrows. He is also pretty much done with puberty, but he still has bits of acne here and there.
Clothing/Armor: When in the Northern Water Tribe he wears a cerulean parka, with light-brown fur trim, and, cyan gloves. He always thought that the parka was much too big for him, and it was. Sometimes the hood falls over his eyes and messes him up. Also a indigo shirt and pants underneath the parka, each with light-brown fur trim on them. The shirt is a long sleeved shirt and the pants go to his ankles. Also some thick boots with a fur trim along the tops.
When he is traveling he wears a big medium purple cloak that has a water-tribe emblem on the inside of it, and it has a large collar that goes up to his chin, also the cloak has a long line that comes to a knot in the collar so if he pulls it, it will fall away easily. The cloak's inside fabric is thistle-colored. He also carries his Northern Watertribe parka with him, in case he goes to a cold area that doesn't happen to be the Northern Watertribe.
He wears the cloak along with a rose-quartz tunic and some turquoise-colored trousers. The tunic is a soft, insulating fabric with a few string ties for buttons at the top. It doesn't have a very big neckline, and it cuts off just below the waist, and after the elbows. The trousers are the same fabric, but sort of loose fitting, and stops just at his ankles, with a small string through the waist to keep them up, but mainly his belt keeps them up. It is a thick Whale Skin Belt, that he made himself, so the design is pretty simple, with a Whale Bone buckle, but the back half of the belt is actually a pouch of water for his bending.
He also wears string-strap sandals made from bamboo when he is in warm areas, but otherwise he wears some leather shoes, and they have a small whale-bone buckle with one leather strap to keep them on. When he is relaxing he wears his traveling clothes and just loses the cloak.
Weapons: Hebirei is a healer and doesn't like to use weapons, but he has developed a technique where he creates two ice-daggers and uses speed to overcome his enemies. He would much rather end a fight with words than actions, but either will work for him, as long as the fight ends with the least amount of bloodshed.
Personality: He had always been an outcast, and beacause of that he is very reserved, but once he opens up to someone he is very outgoing and selfless. His connection with his little brother has made him realize that he can be selfless and happy. He loves people that meet him at an intelectuall level, someone who he can have a conversation with. But he is very shy around people who he doesn't know, particularly girls, because of Tsubasa from his childhood, and he doesn't want to repeat that. He is reserved, almost out of force of habit, because he was conditioned that way during his childhood. He is not particularly inteligent, but he is clever. He loves playing games, like Pai Sho. He also hates chores.
Background: Hebirei Dangan was born in February to Kouza and Hayashi Dangan, and taken home from the healing hut to see his 3 years older brother Nu-Doru, and a year later his little brother Ookami would be born. Hebirei was a particularly tough baby, but once when he was learning to walk, he slipped and hit the right side of his face on the corner of a low-laying table, leaving a permanent scar. He cried for about 7 hours after that and even after the healers got to him, he didn't try to walk for a few months.
He and Nu-Doru never really got along, they would tolerate each other, but that was it. Nu-Doru was not happy about having attention taken away from him, so he would cause trouble all the time. And, often times, he would try to blame Hebirei for it and they would both get in trouble. They always had something to fight about. Then once Nu-Doru had to go to school, Hebirei would get to spend time with Ookami, which he loved. They would both help Kouza with the fish-traps, and other chores that needed to be done. But, they would always get bored and play pranks on him, and they both had fun. Kouza went along with it, because he wanted Ookami and Hebirei to be better friends than Nu-Doru and Hebirei turned out to be.
Then once he got to school, he would always argue with everyone just like he did with Nu-Doru, and most of his first year continued like that. But, then he got in a fight with a classmate, Makiba, and hurt him badly. He got in trouble, and felt terrible about hurting him that badly. After what he did to Makiba, he made a pact with himself that he would not argue or fight anymore.
Because now his main way of expressing himself was gone, he became kind of boring. Also, all the kids were scared of him after he beat up Makiba. Because he was boring and fearful he was ignored. Then when he turned 7 he was helping his mother wash the dishes and realized that he was getting some bending powers. She had asked him to get some water and he brought the buckets, but he just wanted to mess around, so he started to pretend to bend, and to his suprise, the water moved. Not a lot of water moved, but it did move. He was shocked when he thought about the healing he could do with his bending. Not only could he stop hurting people, but he could help people too.
When he turned 9 and graduated elementary school, and kids went to either warrior training, bender training, or healing training, he knew exaclty what he wanted to do, but because of the tribe's custom of only women healers, he chickened out. Instead he joined bender training for about a year, and learned to control and freeze the water. He never did like the bender training, because they were training to fight, and he didn't want to fight. Also he didn't really know why they needed to fight anyway.
His home was positioned next to the healing hut and he would occasionally hear the healing lessons being taught to the women of the village. He was glad that the elder healer, Yugoda, was older and hard of hearing so she would talk loudly and he could hear the lessons clearly. He started to practice on scrapes and bruises he got helping his dad work on the fish traps. He became so caught up in the lessons that he almost forgot that water could also be used as a weapon.
He did not want to make himself stick out and cause more arguments by becoming a healer. Eventually, though, just before he turned 10, he bundled up enough courage to ask Yugoda for healing lessons. His father, along with most of the village, never even considered a male healer, but after a quick discussion between Kouza, Hayashi, and Yugoda, he was let in, as long as he could show that he had the potential to heal, and he did. He then quit the bender training to concentrate on the healing.
His lessons started and continued normally for 3 years until he noticed a girl in the class who was very pretty. He started to become distracted during the lessons. He finally confronted her and asked her name, and she said it was Tsubasa. She was rather bratty, but he couldn't help being attracted to her. He continued to admire her from afar, but he eventually, when he was 14, asked her on a date, and she shot him down. He was devastated, and he gave up on her, but he was able to focus on his lessons again. He was not an excellent healer, but he could, by this time, heal a medium sized gash, but he was not good at burns.
During the Siege of the North, when he was 15, his little brother Ookami was burned very badly by some Fire Nation Soldiers, and ended up dying. At the time, Ookami was 14, just old enough to fight, or at least keep a weapon. After the tribe meeting, he went home and prepared for a couple hours. He could hear crashes and explosions far-away for awhile, then he decided to go outside to help his tribe, so he grabbed his spear. He was 'patrolling', more like strolling around the village when he started to hear crashes and explosions nearby, so he ran toward the source and he found himself face-to-face with 3 Fire Nation Soldiers. They saw his outfit, dark skin, and weapon, and didn't hesitate to attack. He couldn't defend himself, and ended up mortally burnt. One of them tried to finish him, but another stopped him and said that he would die on his own. Then they left, and Hebirei discovered him about 10 minutes later. Hebirei was no good at burns, so he couldn't heal him, and Ookami ended up dying in his arms.
Not only did he have to witness his brother's death without being able to do anything about it, he also had to break the news to his family, and this whole ordeal sent him into a spiral of spite and to become even more of an outcast. Even though he wasn't a real warrior, Ookami was given a hero's funeral.
After that, almost as if his brother's spirit was guiding him, his bending powers suddenly grew. He wasn't the best, but he suddenly gained the power to heal burns.
Nu-Doru just wanted to get away from the grief (and Hebirei) so he struck out from home to wander the world in solitude.
In his anger and spite, Hebirei suddenly wanted to hurt the Fire Nation as much as possible for seperating his family. So once when he was messing around, he bent some water and had an idea, so he bent the water into two small pieces and froze them, creating two small ice-daggers. He started to practice using them, and after a year of off and on practice, became quite adept at it. They were hard to grip, so he used a small bit of waterbending when he fought to keep them in his hands.
Nobody but his family knew that he used daggers, and his family had gotten gloomy and dreary since Nu-Doru left and Ookami died. They really didn't pay much attention to him anymore, but they were still grieving. They lived their daily lives without much interaction, and they pretty much just drifted. They got their work done, but there wasn't any fun or excitement. After a few months, they got back to normal, and Hayashi would not let Hebirei go anywhere without telling him how much she loved him. They started to get very protective over him, which he hated.
Sample RP: He discovered him mortally wounded in a corner during the attack and tried to heal him, but he still couldn't do anything about the burns, and then to make matters worse, the moon started to turn red. When that happened he felt whatever power he had left drain from him. He sat there comforting his brother because he didn't have the strength to move. He could vaguely hear the battle raging on somewhere else. He could smell the burning. He felt like that was a whole other world, and it was happening to some other city, because the only thing that mattered now was Ookami. Then the moon went away completely and he felt so weak that he might die there too.
Suddenly the full moon sprang back to life and he felt his strength return and he tried one last time to heal his brother, but before he had a chance, Ookami said, "It's....okay...just....leave...me....here...and defend.....our home!" He then took his last breath and Hebirei cried out "BROTHER!!" Then he started to cry and stayed there for awhile, and, remembering his brother's last wish, he got up and like a madman, started running toward the battle only to realize that it was over. He glanced over just in time to see, what he thought was a water spirit, disappear into the ocean. He then heard the miraculous celebrating of the city, but he couldn't celebrate, he could only watch as the other-world city celebrated.
