Name:Pakku
Age:57
Nation:Water Tribe
Bender?:Master Waterbender
Physical Appearance:
Pakku is in pretty good physical shape for his age. Although he is not toned and muscular, it is enough for him to hold his position as a Master Waterbender. His skin is light colored and has light sapphire blue eyes. His hair is grown long and its color is white. The top of his head however is completely bald while his hair grows down the back of his head. He has his hair in a ponytail, but it is not a large one. His mustache is separated into two thin white strands while his goutee is larger and grows down a bit past his chin. Because of many years of training students, it shows how his face has aged has many wrinkles around around his eyes and his forehead.
Clothing/Armor:
Pakku wears the traditional tribal clothes of the Northern Water Tribe. He wears the traditional royal colored parka with matching pants and dark gray snow boots. On the shoulder seams of his parka, a pale blue embroidery is woven, along with white fur sewn for tradition and culture. In the middle of his parka on the front side, are three long furs stitched from the bottom of the hood, which is also trimmed in white fur as well. His sleeves appear to be different from many other Water Tribe inhabitants. They are instead, open with out any trim. The hem of his parka also differs from the common. It is straight and is trimmed with white fur and blue ribbon. His boots are covered by his pants but is gathered around the ankles. Pakku does not wear any armor and uses his bending for defense.
Weapons:
Pakku does not have any weapons and uses his bending for offense as well.
Personality:
Most times, extremely sarcastic and uses his wit and smart words to put many people down. He keeps to himself and can be quiet as well, unless someone addresses him. At first, he does seem to appear arrogant as well as harsh and sarcastic. He is however, an extraordinary guide and master. Although he is old and wise, his personal emotions have not yet fully grown. Because of past situations, he has followed an old custom of the Northern Water Tribe faithfully. This custom states that only men, with the ability to bend water, can learn to become a bending warrior for the Northern Tribe. Women however, who also have bending abilities, may learn to use their bending for healing purposes only. On his positive side however, he can be very caring and fatherly. He encourages his students and pushes them to work hard to master their special ability.
Background:
Pakku was raised in the culture and traditions of the Northern Water Tribe. Their culture was known to be a monarchy with all three social classes, from the higher aristocrats and nobles, to the artisans and daily workers. Pakku was raised in the warrior class of the tribe, because of his father’s service in the Northern Water Tribe. During his childhood, Pakku was very shy and quiet. He did not like to socialize very much and was used to being independent. He would always keep himself busy by practicing his waterbending faithfully. He gradually grew better and better with the many basics of waterbending.
It was not until his teenage years that he had struggled however. The bending of his level required more advanced techniques which he slowly but surely learned. His social life had grown as well as he became more open and talkative. Nikko was one of his closest friends that he made and they both grew up together, Pakku being a bit older. They both, for fun, would create huge waves with their waterbending and would race each other along the canals of the city. They would determine which of them was the better waterbender by winning the race. However, they had both gotten into trouble because of the many gondolas pushed to the side of the canals and even on the the walkways along the canals because of this wreckless activity. They both had enjoyed this "game" very much. Unfortunately, Nikko had left around the end of thier teenage years with his parents to the South Pole, their sister tribe. During this time however, Pakku's emotions stirred when he had met a beautiful girl named Kana. She and her friend Hagoda had noticed his extensive kindness towards Kana. He had eventually fallen in love with her and had carved a betrothal necklace for Kana. When he gave it to her, she had greatly accepted it. Kana, however did not agree with the Northern Tribe's customs while Pakku did. Their differences had eventually set them apart and Kana had left to their sister tribe in the South. Their customs had stated that women were forbidden to learn to fight in their tribe. Because of this, Pakku had refused to marry and continues to regret the loss of his love. He hides this emotion with his sarcasm and arrogance leaving him to have a bitter personality.
Sample RP:
“Next,” Master Pakku stated unenthusiastically. It was a Clear and cool morning. The sun had shown brightly and reflected off the cold ice and snow of the city and off the deep navy of the water as well. The city was quiet and most of its inhabitants had just started to wake up. Since the break of dawn that same morning, Master Pakku had been up and training his students. Katara, his newest student and his first and only female student impressed him by far. She fought with very much determination not only to better herself at waterbending, but also to prove to him that female benders were just as capable of doing the same as male benders. Of all his students, Katara had advanced more quickly and diligently.
“You men, must feel the push and pull and the flow of the water, don’t focus on the outcome and focus on intentions. If you put your time into thinking and telling yourself what you want to happen. The opponent will strike you down with ease.” Pakku had hoped he was gaining full attention from his students. “Water… is not an aggressive element. It is a soft and cooling. But that does not make it weak. Water’s intent is to control the opponent not to harm. When Katara fights, she does not think of harming the opponent, she focuses on stopping the opponent and using their own attacks against them.”
The look on his students’ faces expressed every sub-emotion of annoyance, regret, exhaust, and bitterness. He ignored this by turning to face Katara. “Katara, you have advanced more quickly than any of my previous and present students. You have proven to me and to my students that with great determination you have the ability to accomplish anything.” He turned to look at Aang. “Even raw talent alone won’t do much… Pupil Aang, it seems that since you have the time to slouch lazily, you must have mastered waterbending greatly.”
A few minutes later, Master Pakku turned to face the sky. He had noticed that a number of black dots had appeared in the sky and were falling towards the city. Once the dots had made contact with the water, the water had turned black and gloomy. There was a feeling of worry and nervousness that had spread quickly around the city. Babies could be heard crying from afar and caring mothers had hushed them by bringing them back inside the house, smiling at their babies hiding their feeling of fear for their babies’ sake. Just then, a member of the Water tribe council had called for Pakku with anxiousness written all over his face. The watch towers were now beating their drums warning everyone in the city that they were all in a state of emergency.
