Name:
Ahnah Tuktu
Age:
23
Gender:
Female
Group:
Southern Water Tribe Citizen
Nation:
Southern Water Tribe
Bender?:
No
Physical Appearance:
Ahnah stands five feet and one half inch weighing a plump one hundred and eighty-four pounds. Her face is a very round shape with pudgy cheeks, small plump lips and a little rounded nose. Yale blue irises encompass her black pupils and are lined by thick, dark lashes. Her hair is a seal brown color and falling to just past the middle of her back. More often than not her hair is seen up, half of the wavy locks pulled into a tight bun at the back of her head and the rest braided down her back. Her skin is a dark tanned color of many Water Tribe people, though the palms of her hands and the bottom of her feet are a paler, almost pinkish color.
She has a rotund build, her ample chest seeming well in place to her round belly and thick legs. He hands are small with pudgy fingers and calluses on her palms and finger tips. There is a bit of muscle on her arms and legs, but it is most certainly not defined in any appendage.
Clothing/Armor:
Like many of her people, first and foremost she wears a fur lined parka. The base color is a cornflower blue with darker colored designs near the base and cuffs. Beside the Egyptian blue fabric that is sewn in a hem just above the fur there is more of this dark fabric sewn around her middle, just below her bosom with two vertical lines running from the high V-neck collar to this middle line. There is a hood that hangs of the neck line of her parka, fur trimming its hem; it is usually kept down except for on very windy days.
Under this is a steel blue tunic. The garment is sleeveless with thick shoulder straps, a wide spilt from the base, which hangs just past her knees, to her hip allows for better leg movement. The hems are tied off in short thin braids with tiny periwinkle beads at the top and bottom and the top of the split is held with a swatch of Columbia blue fabric. A pair of loose midnight blue pants covers her legs and fall a bit past her ankles. The pants are void of decoration; a length of fabric that runs through the folded and sewn hem of the pants so when pulled they tighten forming a sort of belt. Her final layer is a tighter, long sleeved shirt. It’s a simple midnight blue like her pants with only slightly baggy sleeves that tie at her wrists. The under shirt is more for modesty than warmth, but it serves both purposes fairly well.
Weapons:
Ahnah doesn't really have anything that could be considered a weapon, but the few sharp things she has could well be used for as one if the stiuation called for it. As her job intails she has a short bone knife, though it doesn't have a typical knife shape. The wide, but short bone is rounded on one side for her to grip while the other side is filed down to be a sharp edge. The back fits nicely in the palm of her hand and is used for small quick movements.
Beside that a small steel blade is kept in her igloo for the preparing of food. It has a short, leather bound handle that fits well in her tiny hand, and the blade is mere two inches long with a one sided blade so that she can lay a finger on the blunt edge for a deeper cut.
Personality:
Ahnah has a deep sense of community like many Water Tribe people and she draws her strength from that, but all in all she is a very positive individual. She does her part and doesn't mind helping others with theirs, she is always more than happy to help. Though times are trying she does her best to keep an up beat attitude and always believe that things will get better. She isn't naive to the ways of the world and the cruelty of man, but she likes to think that everyone is inherintly good and that misbehaving is simply the souls way of saying it has lost its way. She is always willing to offer a shoulder to cry on and a wise word to those who wish to her one. Though many of the women of her tribe have adapted to more masculine rolls and a tougher exterior Ahnah remains more of a feminine individual. Though she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty when necessary work arises, but she would rather stick to her needle and thread than roll around in whale guts.
Ahnah is not agressive, she doesn't go around looking to pick a fight or think that everyone is trying to pick a fight with her. Hurtful words get to her, but in a more subtle manner. She doesn't burst out screaming becuase someone called her a mean name, she simply distances herself from that individual, giving her time to think about the situation and the best way to handle it and yes, she would probably cry a little bit.
She can seem a little distant at times, when she is doing something monotonous her mind will often wander to various subjects, more often than not to her husband and his well fair. She is proud of all the men who left to defend the Water Tribe and fight the Fire Nation, but she can't help but miss them all when she thinks of them.
Background:
Ahnah was born in a small village near the ocean. Her parents, Iqniq and Chu, were extremely happy to have a baby girl. Even though her father teased that a boy would have been a blessing so he could pass on his warrior nature her mother knew he was glad Ahnah would never have to see battle. Iqniq, her mother, was the tribes seamstress just as her mother had been before her, and she was rather talented with the thread and needle.
Ahnah was a fairly well tempered baby, her mother was pretty good at guessing what ahnah needed and that gave the small baby few chances to cry. Of course no baby is without tears, but they were most seen when she was sick or cold and they subsided soon after either was remidied.
From a young age her mother taught her needle work so that she would be able to help mend the villages clothing and tents when she was older. Aside from this trade she learned little else, neither of her parents were properly eduacated, only knowing a rudementary sum of written words and their math was a bit lacking. Though they passed on the knowledge they did know as best as they could. She had friends among the other village children and it wasn't an uncommon sight to see her laughing and throwing snowballs about with them.
As she grew she showed promise as a seamstress making her mother very proud and it wasn't long after she was ten that she officially started working on the villages needs. She could be trusted to carry out an order promptly and efficiently, giving herself a name among the other tribe members. She went on a few fishing trips with her father, but she found them boring and did her best to avoid them, though she was more than willing to help out with other chores around the village. Her father was a little disappointed that she didn't like fishing, but he didn't take it to heart.
Her teenage years were spent working day in and day out to provide for the village, to keep some sense of their culture alive. Somewhere among all the hustle and bustle she still found time to play with her childhood friends and even found love for one of them. when she was eighteen Miki, a boy only two years her elder, carved necklace for her and by accepting it she agreed to marry him. The two preformed the appropriate ceremony to become husband and wife and a year later Ahnah gave birth to a little girl, Nanuq. Both Ahnah and Miki showered their baby girl with love, but only a year after her birth Miki left with the other men of her village leaving Ahnah a heart broken. She continued about her daily duties in a bit of a daze for almost three months before she truely came to accept the turn fate had taken and headed up against life with a new determination. She cared for Nanuq with the help of her mother and mother-in-law and dove head first into her work as a seamstress. Now twenty-three she still dreams to see the mens ships on the horizon and to hold her loving Miki again, but she does her best to keep her mind on the family she has in front of her, her little Nanuq.*
Sample RP:
Ahnah sat in the warm Igloo with her mother's, Iqniq and Qaniit, chatting pleasently with the older women. Iqniq was holding a sleeping Nanuq after fighting her away from her other grandmother while Ahnah rethreaded a bone needle, a pale blue parka-in-progress in her lap.
The small jacket was lined with a heavy fur which showed from the hem of the sleeves and base as well as the hood. The basics were done on the garment it was all decrotaive now, but Ahnah couldn't help but spoil her little girl. She looked over at the chubby little face cradled in the nich of her own mothers arms. She was getting a little big to be cradled in such a manner, but she refused to sleep out on the pelt, prefering to be tightly cuddled against someones body. She was a heavy sleeper though, she hadn't woken for a single moment when Qaniit and Iqniq were fussing over her, though Ahnah fancied that she was just so used to it.
"There, all done," Ahnah gave a big smile, holding up the periwinkle blue parka. It would be a bit big for the girl, but she would grow into it. The hems were lined with fur, above which was sewn on a strip of steel blue that made small triangles along the bottom. Around her cuffs the same blue made double lines and two lines ran from the neck to the base of the parka, "Isn't it cute?"
"Oh, silly Ahnah, you put too much work into it, she's going to grow out of it in a few months," Qaniit scoulded, though she didn't seem entirely displeased with how it looked.
"Shut up," Iqniq made a mock swatting at Qaniit with her free hand before turning back to her duaghter, "It's beautiful dear, Nanuq will love it," Ahnah smiled and rolled up the small jacket, storing it with her own until she would need it.
*Two things:
I'm pretty sure that timeline is right for the men leaving, but I want to touble check.
And, is it showing that I have a thing for mothers?
