Name: Suki
Age: 16
Nation: Earth Kingdom, Kyoshi Island
Group: Kyoshi Warriors
Bender?: No
Physical Appearance: Suki stands an average height for her age around 5'5" and with a slender frame that's decievingly light. She is lean and trim, but her muscles have been honed into hardness from over a decade of warrior training. Her athletic build leaves her with a very modest bust and the curve of her hips is often hidden beneath her armor, yet she is still distinctly feminine in body structure. Her arms and legs are slim, shapely, and possessing a bit of strength that would be considered above average for someone of her weight. Her hands and feet are relatively small and nimble, making her slight of hand and light on her feet.
She has relatively short, chestnut hair that reaches just past her chin. It isn't styled, but simply kept out of her face with a green headband. Her face is round but not chubby, and her chin is slightly pointed. She has a thin, graceful neck set on narrow but strong shoulders. Her eyes are a grayish-blue and almond-shaped, and her nose is average-sized and slightly upturned. She has full, perpetually red lips even without lipstick.
Clothing/Armor: Suki typically wears her armor whenever she's on the road or prepared for battle. The armor is uniform to all the warriors of Kyoshi and comprises of several layers. Underneath everything is a layer of wrappings and undergarments. On top of that is a close-fitting green-grey undershirt with a similar-colored pair of leggings. Above that is a forest-green skirt that reaches her ankles and completely covers the leggings. This skirt is held in place by ties on the garment itself as well as a thin black sash. Above this, she wears a lighter green overshirt, the bottom of which splits wide at the waste to frame her darker green skirt and stops at her calf. This overshirt has a collar that folds tight around her neck and loose sleeves that become tighter at the elbow and fit closely down to her wrists. This shirt also has a pair of dark green stripes running down the arm, broken by a golden circle on the outside of the bicep. The bottom half of the sleeves are covered by dark grey bracers stamped with the golden insignia of Kyoshi Island. Her hands are covered by gloves that are white on the palm and dark green on the back. On top of all this, she wears a segmented brestplate that wraps around her entire midsection and rises up in front to protect her breast. Two thin pauldrons keep the armor from sliding down by linking the front and back over her shoulders. The breastplate splits into four sections in her front, back, and sides, and extends for another foot before ending at her thigh. A wide, dark green sash wraps around the armor at her waist and ties in the front. Finally, she wears a pair of thick brown leather boots.
Suki's face is painted in the image of Avatar Kyoshi. A white foundation covers her face, neck, and ears, while red lipstick and eye-liner highlights her facial features, along with extended black tracing of her eyebrows. She wears a dark green cloth headband to keep her hair back. The headband also sports a golden plate that protects her forehead and a pair of gold tassles that hang from the corners to frame her face.
Weapons: Suki is very proficient with the use of a pair of fighting fans as well as her own fists. She has also demostrated the ability to use a sword and shield. Her shield consists of a radially expanding metal fan that unfolds into a solid disk that is capable of withstanding intense blasts of fire. When not in use, the shield is folded up and mounted to the outside of her left bracer. Finally, Suki occasionally uses a sword called a jingum. This weapon resembles a katana, but has a slightly shorter, broader, and thinner blade. Its handle is also slightly shorter than a typical katana, allowing for good one-handed or two-handed use. This weapons is carried in a scabbard tucked into her sash.
Personality: Suki is a strong-willed and talented warrior who does not appreciate being thought of as less of a threat because of her gender. She is respectful and polite, but will not hesitate to speak up for herself and others if she feels she or anyone is not being treated fairly. Suki can also be very competitive. She doesn't like losing to those she feels she is more capable than. Suki has a strong sense of duty and cannot sit idly by while she feels she is needed elsewhere.
Background: Born and raised on Kyoshi, Suki was raised in a culture that was both neutral to the conflict of the world and yet strong in warrior tradtition. From an early age, she was trained in the martial arts unique to her island home. After nearly eight years of training, she eventually rose to the position of head warrior among her peers. The position is mostly titular and reflects the respect she has earned from her fellow warriors more than any extraordinary fighting skill, but still she doesn't let it go to her head. If anything, it makes her even more humble, because the well-being of her friends is in her hands should they ever be called to battle.
Suki's life, other than her warrior training, was fairly ordinary. She helped her father haul in catches on his fishing trips and aided her mother with housework during the evenings. The only boys she really interacted with were on the docks when she'd help her father, but she was too dedicated to her training to really pursue any relationships.
Shortly after her sixteenth birthday, her life took a dramatic turn when the Avatar showed up on her doorstep. For the first few days, things were pleasant. She had humilated the arrogant Water Tribe boy traveling with the Avatar to the amusement of the other warriors, but had come to admire his willingness to admit his wrongs and learn from her. She even began to harbor some feelings for the sarcastic yet charming Water Tribe warrior named Sokka.
However, when Fire nation showed up in pursuit of the Avatar, her time with him was cut short. The resulting battle was intense, but she survived, as did her village, even if the damage had been great. Suki and the other warriors spent the next several weeks repairing the burned buildings and rebuilding the battered homes. However, when everything was back to normal, Suki couldn't help but feel that she should be doing something more.
Her home was safe and secluded, but the brush with the war raging outside the confines of Kyoshi Island made her realize that not everyone was so lucky. There were countless others out there who couldn't simply go on about their lives because of the Fire Nation. After several days of deep thought, she called upon her fellow warriors and spoke with the vllage elder. She beseached him to let her lead a party of those who would volunteer to help fight the war in whatever way they could. The old leader was sad that his warriors, the daughters of Kyoshi, would risk their lives in a war in a distant land, but inside he realized that it was a worthy pursuit. With a heavy heart, he granted the warriors permission to go to the Earth Kingdom and provided them with food, money, and transportation.
Sample RP: The spray of ocean water misted Suki's face as the ship on which she saild cut a path through the choppy sea. The sails were billowed with air and the mast creaked with each new gust from the strong northeast wind. They were making good time on their journey, and Kyoshi Island was nothing but a speck on the horizon behind her. Suki glanced back once more toward her home, unable to see it any more, and that realization more than anything solidified in her mind that she really was going to war. From this point on it would be nothing but unfamiliar territory with the possibility of danger around every unknown turn.
Yet, even as the realities of war started to settle in her mind, ser gaze wandered to the faces of her sister warriors standing around the ship. Most of them seemed equally engrossed in their own thoughts. Suki stood up a little straighter when she noticed that more than one pair of eyes was trained on her. She was their leader after all, and the one who had first suggested that they help in the war. If she couldn't deal with that, then how could she expect the same of those who would follow her?
No... She would be strong. She would not lament being so far from her family and all that was familiar. She had her sister warriors. She had her friends, and so she had her home...
