Finally. After a few days of travel the two were in sunny Hokage.
They traveled with Meilan and her family after their carrige broke on the road. The people were couteious and respectful on the way their. It made travel a lot less of pain in the rear as it normally is. Now finally they reacted Azar's house in Hokage and Ravi could almost taste the apprehension in the air as they stood at the front of house. Ravi had no idea how Azar's parents were going to take him. He actually wondered if he would be mistaken as Azar's girlfirend. He wondered if Malati would be needed. Probably not. He turned to Azar gripping his bags and said. "Umm maybe you should go first dear?" Ravi asked biting his lip in nervousness. He scratched the back of his head. "I have no idea how they are going to react to me..would they mistaken me as your girlfriend. Should I have I wore a dress?" Ravi whispered and frowned as he started the rice paper door.

If Ravi thought the trip was fun and relaxing, Azar must have thought the opposite. And, as things culminated, he did. That little girl seemed to fawn over him more often than he wished, even though one time would have been too much, yet neither she nor Ravi would let him live it down if he took that flower from behind his ear. He couldn't believe how stupid he looked, even though Ravi seemed to like it. Sigh.
But now, it was time. Time to face the music, that fateful moment where Azar would reunite with his family after months of absence. Everyone important would be there, and would find out his greatest secret.
Like hell if he was ready! He'd spent too much time grumbling and brooding on that carriage trip to prepare for anything important, and now had to suffer the consequences. Still, he had to raise his eyebrow in surprise when Ravi suggested what he did.
How could he even drag Malati into this? Azar may have loved Ravi, but Malati was another story. His 'female' persona indeed...she was just plain annoying at times. Something about her he just couldn't explain was so very unsettling. Maybe because she always took Ravi away from him, both literally and physically? Who knew...?
No. That was enough. Ravi was a man, Azar was a man. They were together. Azar wanted his family to know. Thus, they would be told the whole story, whether they liked it or not. If Azar was kicked out of the house because of who love chose to unite him with, then so be it! He braced himself for the worst.
Turning to his lover, he shook his head slowly. His voice was hushed yet stern, yet he was certain his meddlesome family was right behind that door. Here goes nothing! "Ravi, how can you even think a thing like that? You're not Malati...you're a guy just like me. I don't have a 'girlfriend' to show off, and don't want one. Be yourself and don't worry what they think..."

Ravi continued to worry his lips when he heard his lover say something. Ravi, how can you even think a thing like that? You're not Malati...you're a guy just like me. I don't have a 'girlfriend' to show off, and don't want one. Be yourself and don't worry what they think...
Ravi looked stunned almost hurt. He had his hands on his hips as and frowned. "Since when could you read mines?! How do you know I was thinking about her?" He stomped his foot and scowled. "Say whatever you want Azar but I know who I am." He said simply crossing his arms feeling more moody and pouting. "I have a lot too worry about Azar. I was kicked out of my home for being who I am." He said pointedly looking at the ground. "I have a lot reasons to care what people think." He adjusted his geta and his sun hat as he looked at Azar. "Have you knocked yet? "

It was entirely likely that Azar merely assumed Ravi was about to suggest Malati, but that didn't matter now. More important matters were afoot. Not only did Azar feel guilty (and a bit mad) now that Ravi pointed out his situation with his family, but there was the door before them. Ravi just asked for, nay, probably wanted Azar to knock, alerting the family of their presence. He still wasn't ready, but he was quite comfortable to return 'fire' on Ravi. He was careful not to raise his voice too much.
"Look, I'm not saying you don't understand. I just want you to be here for me. I don't know how they'll react when I show them to you and tell them everything. I don't know if they'll have me committed to an asylum or whatever, but I do need to know you'll be with me no matter what," by now, he was grasping Ravi around his biceps, hands clutching tightly, eyes meeting Ravi's with a sort of pup-seal pout. Even his eyebrows sloped down sadly, making his feelings clear.
"I'll knock soon, I promise..."

Ravi was still pouting and feeling moody when Azar vollied back the conversation. "Look, I'm not saying you don't understand. I just want you to be here for me. I don't know how they'll react when I show them to you and tell them everything. I don't know if they'll have me committed to an asylum or whatever, but I do need to know you'll be with me no matter what
Ravi noticed he was turning on the puppy face and trying to look like he really needed Ravi. Moaning and swiviling his head in protest Ravi said. " I won't leave you! You know that! I love you Azar and I will always be supporting you." Ravi however wonder how long Azar was going to procrastinate. He just wanted this done and over with. He was just as nervous if not more after all Azar was family. He was the stranger. Rolling his sunshine yellow eyes. "Baby if you don't knock I will." He said keeping is voice low.
"And quit the puppy-pout, I invented it."

Well, that part was over. Azar may have been reassured, but he was still nervous. Even if Ravi was close by his side the entire time, what good would it do him? It was his own battle to overcome, not Ravi's. Did he just waste a whole lot of time with this whole thing? Probably. By now, instead of pouring his heart out to Ravi, the two could be inside, knowing just how things unraveled. Azar grumbled a bit, looking at the door.
Why was it so hard? It was just a door. Inside were people he knew well (maybe too well), his family nonetheless, so what was the deal? He wasn't introducing himself to strangers, proudly proclaiming to them that he was in love with another man. Yet, it was uncertainty at its finest. Azar was duly uncomfortable in every way, and just wished it would be over. Letting out a sigh, he looked over to Ravi. Why was he so much stronger emotionally? It was a mystery. One couldn't help but think that a man so flamboyant, and dare say, womanly, would be much more timid and demure. It wasn't the case. Thinking Ravi should be the one to knock on the door, he decided to fold to his own choice.
But! He changed his mind at the last second and knocked loudly. Bolting his head sharply to Ravi, he snapped at him. "Hide from view. I want this to be a surprise!"
Hoo boy. Now his heart felt like it was about to jump from his chest. How fun.

They continued to stand there not one of them moving to knock. They had good reason too. Everything was resting on this moment. Azar looked bewildered and Ravi looked impatient. After his father finding out his preferance he had come to the conclusion that nothing could be worse. After all who can top, being kicked out your house having your named disgraced and your father threating to arrest him for sodomy. Not like he could proove it since at that time Ravi handed gone that far.
Still he waited until Azar suddendly knocked and then told him to go and hide. WHAT?[/b] Frowning he stamped out of the way and was out of eye range when he say. "What surprise? Besides. "Hey mom i'm queer and I brought my boyfriend?!" He hissed crossing his arms. Looking offened that Azar pushed him out of the way to make it a surpise. Like this wasn't enough. He sighed dramaticly and took out his fan. "I am not a ferret-puppy that followed you home and you have to ask your mother to keep me before you show me."

"Hold on, I'm coming."
The stocky woman shuffled her way to the entrance, hips swaying with each step of a matronly gait. Age somewhere in her early forties, she was still fairly attractive, clear that she took care of herself. Her hair, black like midnight streaked with a few white strands, was set entirely in a high topknot, no bangs or loose hairs at all, tied at the base by a crimson ribbon, overlaid by a brass ring. An alizarin yukata decked her form, trimmed by a rich maroon, long bell sleeves reaching her wrists, a hem ending at her knees. Beneath was a plain, arsenic-colored skirt that covered past feet shod in plum-colored slippers.
As for her face, she looked rather familiar. Full lips, strong jawline, flat eyebrows...although graced by a calm, satisfied expression instead of a scowl of dissatisfaction, she bore a striking resemblance to a certain visitor standing at her door. She was Lei Lei...
She was his mother.
Sliding open the door, there she saw him. Looking like a skittish toucan-puffin, Azar looked his mother up and down during a seconds-long stretch that seemed like forever. She looked the same, as did he. Familiarity was always nice that way. He had only been gone a few months, but the woman figured she'd raised her son well. At least now, he was in one piece.
He was wearing a dark pink robe that ended at his thighs, side slits rising to his hips, folding in front and closing down the sides now only with a few black buttons hidden underneath the hemming, but a maroon sash around his waistline. On the left half below the sash, creamy-colored embroidery snaked and winded up the slit in front and back. A pair of cordovan pants and seal brown, curl-toed shoes dressed his lower half, but the higher reaches of his upper body were covered by a traditional cardinal-red mantle; it was like a large square shape, two points hanging over either shoulder while the opposing two points hung down his front or back. It had a high mandarin collar, which buttoned at the neckline.
Apparently, Lei Lei concluded, someone with good fashion sense was taking care of him.
That was irrelevant - her baby boy was home!
"Azar! Home at last!" the woman gushed, almost falling onto her son in a joyous embrace. Azar blushed and rolled his eyes, but hoped to the spirits that Ravi and he would be received well. Ravi didn't seem too keen on hiding, so the secret was out. As she backed away, grinning fondly as she looked up to her son, her deep brown eyes happened over to a new face, that of a slender young man not far from Azar's side. Lei Lei backed off.
"And who might this be?" asked the middle-aged woman, hand raising to her mouth curiously. She noted he was a handsome, if not effeminate man, but pieced things together a bit too slowly - odd for this usually astute woman, but she hardly expected her son to be in love with another man. "Has he escorted you and your girl along the way?"
"No, mom...I..." Azar stuttured a bit, grimacing as he prepared his answer. In all honesty, he wished Ravi would hop in right then.
"Azar, is there something you're not telling me?"

And finally the door slid open. Azar's mother look very much like her son. Same strong face and arched brows. She also had very simular taste in fashion and looked quite nice in her yukata, so thats how Azar got his style. She was quite elated to see her boy and embraced Azar with enthuisiasm. Ravi however was spotted quickly as he wasn't really hiding.
Her inqurie about him escorting Azar and his "girl" almost made him scoff. However when Azar floundered trying to introduce him, Ravi knew it was time to turn on the charm and introduce himself.
"Ahhh it's nice to meet you at last, I am dear friend of Azar's I help him find work in Lun Yang and we've been buds since, I'm a Ravi." He bowed taking his hat off and flashing his famous smile. He winked to Azar and hopefully find a better way to tell her that they were more then just, best buds.

Ravi intervened at a perfect moment, it seemed. Ample time was given for Azar to formulate his thoughts, perhaps even to avoid the subject as much as possible for as long as it took. It could wind up rather annoying, but Azar kept feeling less confident about telling his mother something so important right now. Maybe later...?
Azar rubbed the back of his head, eyes drifting off to the wayside. "So...are Hyun-Yoon and Jaleh here already?" An odd question, considering the later of the two, his sister, still lived in the same city as far as he knew, and even hadn't tied the proverbial knot with Vishal just yet. Unless he'd been gone longer than he thought, Jaleh was still only the man's betrothed. Hyun-Yoon on the other hand, was nothing more than words on a page for years. It was really something he'd actually come back home to the Fire Nation this time around. Maybe they were expecting something epic and ground-shaking? Would they ever get that...
"Anyway, yeah...Ravi and I are here now. Can we come in or are you going to make us wait?" Here came Azar's ubiquitous rotten attitude, shining through his voice as many people had heard.
But now, how long would it take before more questions were asked about the letter Azar sent? Lei Lei, quite unmistakably looked confused, but stepped to the side. A nod of her hed hinted that she would let the two pass.

Changing topic, Azar asked about his siblings, Ravi inferred as his mother tried to figure out who Ravi excatly is. Azar's rudeness however wasn't expected or rather, it was just Ravi never could imagine Azar being rude to his own mother. Still She stepped aside and let the two in.
Finally, Ravi got a good look of the modest yet very well kept home. He still had bags with him and felt very heavy holding them. Setting them down and walked around to get a feel of the place. Ravi did like it, it felt almost like the home he was kicked out off but still had that warm feel of the home he had at the Lovely Lotus. "You have very nice place," Complemented Ravi smiling. He was so travel worn that all he wanted was a bath a hot meal and a nice bed, preferably in that order

Lei Lei was more gracious than her son, thank the spirits. She listened to every word her son's 'friend' said and would answer accordingly, accepting his compliment without question, for he seemed completely sincere. The hefty woman ushered the two in and closed the door. "Thank you, Ravi. I hope you enjoy yourself here."
Azar looked around, observing every detail as he looked in. He didn't take the time to see his grandfather, brother, sister, and brother-in-law already sitting there in the main room. They saw him, but Azar took note of how things hadn't changed at all. Like he'd never left, untouched...according to his almighty opinion. He was beginning to think they didn't miss him at all. Lei Lei walked before him and smiled, noticing his distracted gaze off to the side.
"See for yourself," she motioned outward with her hand, showing him the family members he had left behind. Azar's heart beat like a drum, considering yet again how unprepared he was to handle such a thing. It was a wonder he wasn't already halfway down the street.
But this...this was family, with whom he had grown up and shared most of his life. He already knew them, their personalities, and could fairly accurately anticipate just what they'd do. It was a pain in the ass. Why did he agree to it. No...why did he suggest it? Why did he support the very idea? He could kick himself for all the grief he caused himself. He was tired...
"Well, here I am," Azar stepped forward and held out his hands, as if he were introducing himself in a grand auditorium filled with a thousand people. His grin was rather sheepish, but somehow still promoted his normal high-mindedness as expertly as always. It was an enigma.
The first to approach was his grandfather, a thin, mustached man in his late sixties. He, like Jaleh soon after, simply hugged Azar without a word. They were happy to see him. Vishal was next, yet merely shook Azar's hand and smiled. They knew what sort of reunion was in store. Someone had been gone for a good long time, longer even than Azar.
He was about the same height as his younger brother, with a similarly broad build more toned and muscular. As if to prove a point, he wore his Fire Navy attire into the house, helmet tucked under his arm. Raven locks were cut short, and instead of the goatee claimed by his brother, he had a full, neatly-trimmed beard. A smoky honey hue, his eyes stared at his brother as his brow wrinkled. It was Hyun-Yoon.
"You jerk!" Hyun-Yoon exclaimed, lunging forth his free fist to punch Azar right in the arm. Almost playful, he was still rather perturbed over what Azar had done. He may not have had the most integral role in the family, but Hyun-Yoon still bore a bit of ill will toward his younger brother. He grimaced. "You can't just run away from home without any forethought! You could've died!"
"Good to see you again too," mumbled Azar, rubbing the pain away from his upper arm. His brother may have been completely right, but he wasn't about to admit his failure. It wasn't the best decision, in retrospect, yet Hyun-Yoon didn't fail to point that out. He always was that way, eager to bask where his brother fell short. It was mutual, though. They'd be teasing each other in no time, if things were like those years of yore. Azar would be sure to pull the same tricks as last time. Cue drama. "I thought you'd be happy to see me."
"Uch. Of course I'm glad to see you, ya lug. Come here." Hyun-Yoon swung his arm around Azar, embracing him from the side (a manly hug, naturally), then letting go shortly. "You could've given Grandpa a heart attack with your stupid stunt."
Azar rolled his eyes and smirked when he saw their grandfather shaking his head in disagreement, likewise grinning mischeviously. Everything seemed alright, not terribly shaken by his disappearance from home. Things turned out okay. "Save it, Hyun...I've been traveling all day long."
Hyun-Yoon scoffed as Azar breezed right past. "Whatever."
Lei Lei, standing beside Ravi, rolled her eyes as well. She leaned in toward the long-haired fellow, voice low so as not to embarrass her boys. "Just like old times again. I wonder if they'll cut Jaleh's hair this time."

The commaderie of Azar's family was very comforting for Ravi as he followed him into the main living area and sat down. Ravi noticed the various family memebers one could be reconzied as Azar's grandfather another young man shook Azar's hand, but Ravi figure it wasn't his brother. Then a figure arrived in Fire Nation regalia and armor. This had to be Azar's brother, Hyun-Yoon.
Ravi watched the dilouge between the too, Hyun-Yoon was gone longer then Azar obviously, trimmed beard and more rugged appearance made him much older and mature than Azar. Ravi smirked as his lover complained about travling all day. A Lei-Lei question Ravi chuckled and responded,
"I never get this kind of welcome by my sisters, I never had a brother, I was the youngest and only male in my family. Though I think all my sisters would have tackled me down in mass hug." He said with a twist of his lips. Being in being in a place of comfort Ravi felt so much at ease as Azar was greeted by his family who obviously missed him.
Unfortunatly that sent a pang of jealously through him. He would never get that from his family.

Before long, most everyone was sitting at the table in patient anticipation of the meal to come. Azar and Ravi had been shown to their room, Azar's old one, and everyone had washed up and gotten ready to ear. Everyone, that was, except for Lei Lei and Jaleh, as the womenfolk were busy preparing each course of the meal. In fact, they wouldn't even let the men at the table enter the kitchen, for fear they may ruin things considerably. It had happened before...
Azar was sitting quietly, beside Ravi, directly across from his grandfather, on the right of whom sat Hyun-Yoon, and on the left, Vishal. It seemed there was an uncomfortable tension, but Azar had a few tricks up his sleeve. Sipping from a cup of tea, he smirked at the world around him. Whether or not it would shatter to pieces was entirely in his hands. How powerful he felt! Too bad maniacal laughter would give away too many details.
Hyun-Yoon, on the other hand, had been sizing up Ravi through two forbidding grayish-amber eyes. Granted, it was rude to stare, but Ravi's very presence seemed odd. The wording of Azar's letter to the family made it very clear there would be a girl, a 'lover' in their midst that evening. So where was she? Who was Ravi?
Azar noted every second where his brother stared at Ravi, which made him (and probably Ravi) feel rather disconcerted. Azar raised his eyebrows rather sarcastically, as though he was going to either about to ask the naval officer an acidic question or give him a stern tongue-lashing. Hyun-Yoon rubbed his hair-covered chin in suspicion. "So, Ravi, what's your deal?"
Azar (hypocritically) wondered if Ravi had caught up on how tactless some of these family members were. He was sure to clear his throat, widening his eyes in anger at his older brother. Hyun-Yoon rolled his eyes, shaking his head as the popular trend seemed in the household that day. "I mean, why did you come with Ravi? I thought he was going to show off his girl to us. Where is she anyway?"
Azar's lips parted slightly, letting out a frustrated breath. Again he stayed silent, waiting for the right time to drop the ball, so to speak. Hyun-Yoon was testing his patience, no matter how sincere, yet uninformed his questions were. His older brother was honestly wondering if Azar's 'girl' was staying at some nearby hostel primping and preening for the last few hours. Little did he know Azar's 'lover' was right there in front of him. For Agni's sake, wasn't it obvious? Some people...
Then, like the spirits were playing a trick on him, sort of a test in patience, Jaleh flitted right into the room and sat beside Vishal with haste. Aside from the goofish grin she wore, the girl's black hair was styled into a high, loose bun with plenty of volume, clearly a formal hairstyle as opposed to the alternative. On her thickset, highly 'busty' figure was a rich purple cheongsam lined in thin mauve piping, and beneath it a red-violet skirt that trailed to the floor. It didn't matter what she wore, though; Vishal thought she was beautiful anyway. Azar expected sappy love music to start playing.
"So why the sudden return?" Vishal asked, right as Jaleh sickeningly rubbed her nose against his. Azar wanted to gag, yet was overwhelmed with jealousy at this point. It was strange that his face wasn't red as a beet, seeing the young man he also thought was attractive being far too affectionate his little sister.
Vishal was fairly handsome; a drawn, somewhat gaunt face, fine features, broad shoulders. His hair was, predictably, in a topknot and colored like dark chocolate, a few stray hairs hanging loose that could be called 'bangs' framed his hairline. A vermillion-and-carmine yukata and a pair of charcoal-gray pants clad his figure, nothing overly dressy, but appropriate clothing for the occasion.
"I missed my honey," Jaleh cooed like a baby, making Azar feel even worse. He wasn't even bothering to look at the two anymore - it was that bad. Why couldn't it end?
Wait...it could. Azar could stop it right there, or at least change things considerably. It was a moment of truth, was it not? All those little 'I love you's and 'my sweet's were really annoying him. The window of opportunity was closing quicker than he could think.
His mother walked right through the doorway with a bowl in her hand, but her next words were interrupted when Azar stood and slammed his hands on the table. His face was livid, like an enraged tigerdillo. "That's enough!"
Lei Lei nearly dropped the bowl in her hand, yet backed up with sepia eyes wide like saucers. Just what was going on? Azar would tell all as brashly as possible, his reddening face a clear sign of his feelings. "I'll tell you where my lover is, Hyun-Yoon."
Thrusting, he pointed directly at Ravi. Yes, that was the truth, whether anyone wanted to believe him or not. He was expecting everyone to raise a commotion, perhaps even with a few fire blasts from a certain person exiting the doorway. It was common for him as a child to think his firebending mother would shoot flames at his face as punishment, even though that never once happened in his life. Go figure. "I love Ravi. It's the reason I stayed in the capital..."
"Huh," his brother, arms crossing, huffed in acknowledgement, and, much to Azar's surprise, what seemed like acceptance. Jaleh tilted her head curiously, Vishal furrowed his brow, and Grandpa rubbed his chin, nodding, with a smile so wide that it almost took up his whole face. Lei Lei raised a free hand to her chest, lips pursing.
Was there anything to be said? Azar didn't think so. As far as he knew, no one wanted him around for a second longer. He was pissed off, and knew his family felt the same way. And on the off chance they accepted everything about the two men being together...no, it was impossible! They hated him by now! Screw them all!
Heaving an angered grunt, Azar pounded the table again and stormed away. No one else truly knew what to think, but they were most assuredly not mad. Ravi seemed like a nice, honest fellow, even though they'd only known him for so short a time. But now what? He was part of the family, no matter how...well, unconventional such a thing was. It went against every standard of tradition, but they didn't care as long as it made Azar happy. He was such an angry young man before, but if this was the solution, then they accepted it without question.
Lei Lei perched her hand on her hip, watching her son lumber out the door, boiling with anger. Sighing, she looked off to the young man who Azar boasted as his lover, which did happen to be the direction where everyone else was looking. Ravi would receive a few stares, questions no doubt, but Lei Lei didn't want to subject him to that. Instead, she called him away. "Ravi honey, could you join me in the kitchen? You too, Jaleh."

Ravi sat next to Azar hoping for that hot meal, even though he wanted a bath first but sometimes a full stomach was a nice bonus to a hot bath. Perhaps if they we’re sneaky enough he would try to convince Azar to join him.
Eyes watching him Ravi felt the stares of Azar’s family members, especially Hyun-Yoon’s. Half wanting to say something witty like I am too pretty for you?, Ravi realize that there is no need for unnecessary tactlessness
My deal? Besides the fact I am sexing up your little brother? Thought Ravi as he was being pierced by Hyun-Yoon’s stare and question, was it really any of his business? Well probably but it was question he couldn’t answer right away. He thought on it and said, “I thought Azar would like some company, the road is very lonely.” He figured it was a good enough of answer for now.
However he heard Hyun-Yoon’s question about Azar’s lover Ravi frowned a bit not to much but still the question bothered him and obviously Azar. Jaleh returned and sat by her husband’s side and gave him an affectionate nuzzle. Vishal asked why Azar returned as Jaleh laid on thick goopy layers of sugared affection. It was annoying but Ravi had see worst and tolerated it however. Azar seemed more perturbed by it than he and lack the grace to ignore it.
Then everything turned to ash. As Azar like usual, lost his temper and blew everything away by putting Ravi on the spot as he announced who Ravi really was. This was something Ravi really should have prepared for and didn’t as everyone turned to look at the lithe dancer. Ravi felt looks of everyone stare into him, he took all with poise and confidence. Azar’s family seemed that didn’t mind it all and actually accepted it. As far as Ravi could tell, he didn’t hear any objections or words of disgust. Which was nice change of pace from what he was actually expecting to hear. Thinking it would be re-cap of what happened with him and his family.
Azar on the other hand didn’t take the slience as a good sign and pounded on the table and left with an angry grunt. Oh good show, Azar good show what a load of class my dear, Ravi thought bitterly as he watch Azar leave him to his mother and family. Lei Lei called Ravi to join her in the kitchen with Jaleh and Ravi did so politely bowing to Azar’s family and excusing himself in the table. He walked into the kitchen his head held high but still looked embarrassed by Azar’s childish behavior. “May I help you with anything Ma’am?”
