Teijo lay restless in the small bed next to her sister, who slept soundly. She rolled onto her back to look at the simple ceiling begging for sleep, but unable to give up her hectic mind. Nyoko gave a soft groan and rolled over, tugging the blankets away from Tei. Normally she might have shaken her sister wake and demanded her blankets back, but tonight she simple tugged a little and her sister subconsciously gave her back her half of blankets.
Tei snapped upright in her bed panting, after moments of trying to regain control of her breathing she noticed she had finally fallen asleep sometime while looking at the ceiling. Her sister still mumbled next to her and Tei wondered what had woken her. She couldn't remember falling asleep, but the more she thought about it she started to remember her dream. For some reason she had been running outside the city towards the docks, but she didn't know why.
"Mother... I..." Tei looked down at her little sister who started talking in her sleep. Nyoko's face was scrunched like she was in pain almost, but she didn't scream or anything. She watched as Nyoko's face relaxed, but remained guarded. "I... Trust... You..." Her voice trailed off in the small room and Tei watched wide-eyed as Nyoko got up.
"Nyoko, Nyoko, wake up." She whispered to her not wanting to wake her grandfather in the next room. Nyoko didn't listen, just continued walking, taking the blankets with her.
Tei followed in silence making sure Nyoko didn't wonder anywhere to unsafe. Her sister wove between buildings, her cape of blankets trailing behind her. Several times Tei tried to call to her softly in attempts to wake her, but it was no use. She also lost sight of her a few times, but her hysterics were eased when she found her just around another building. Tei stopped following as Nyoko turned towards her. Her yes were still closed and her body seemed almost puppeted.
"Why do you follow me, can't you see I hate you?" She said in a voice that wasn't hers, but all the same the words stung Tei like a whip and Nyoko turned running.
"Wait!" She yelled chasing after her sister, but she could barely keep up. Some how, she didn't know how, she had ended up outside the city running in the direction of the ports. She didn't stop to think how she ended up where she was as she followed her sister, who was slowly becoming a speck on the horizon. "Nyoko, stop!" She yelled, but her sister kept running. In a whirl of ice, snow and sky every bone in Tei's body jolted and she stood on one of the wooden docks, Nyoko standing at the end.
"You have failed me child, I will take her from you and there is nothing you can do." Nyoko said in her strange voice as she turned from the waves to look at Tei. Her eyes were open now, but they glowed a pale blue that disturbed her. Looking into those eyes she knew that voice it was her mothers. Nyoko's body fell back into the biting sea and was lost.
"Tei, wake up." Nyoko's same sweet voice woke Tei along with her shaking. Tei was covered in cold sweat and was panting furiously. "Someone is here for you."
