Name: Xia Feng
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender?: No
Group: Flame Dancer Gypsy Caravan (formally Earth Kingdom Citizen)
Physical Appearance: With the typical brown hair and green eyes, Xia Feng looks like a normal Earth Kingdom girl. However, there is more than that.
Xia Feng stands at a sturdy five feet. She is round with the fat from a recent baby, but the roundness of her face and hips suggest she was a little on the heavy side even before the child's conception. Her hair is a mahogany brown, slightly wavy due to the fact that she mostly keeps it in a long rope braid down her back. It reaches to her knees, since she was always taught to wear it long as a child. Her eyes are a pine green, widely innocent and almond shaped. They are rimmed in black-brown eyelashes, and are the example of eyes being windows to the soul.
Xia Feng's body is obviously heavy from her former pregnancy. Her waist and hips are thick and robust. Her breasts, though big from her natural weight and lactation, her saggy and covered in stretch marks, with matching ones on her lower stomach from her baby. The rest of her conveys a woman of pampering and not much physical activity. Her hands are small, soft and pudgy and her feet and dainty and slender. Her ears are proportioned to her head, her breasts are full like a woman's and even fuller due to lactating.
Clothing/Armor: Xia Feng usually wears various cheongsam dresses with calf-long loose pants underneight of earthly colors such as greens, golds, browns and grays. Her favorite one, the one she usually wears, is a pale jade cheongsam dress with a high mandarin collar. A pattern of spring blossoms incircles the collar and trails down to just above her bust, and a pair of golden phoenixes circling one another near the bottom of the dress is embroidered into the fabric, which is light and thin, not very good for wintertime or cold nights. The dress is also trimmed in gold thread at the hems. The dress falls to her ankles, and under her dress are loose pants of dark pine green, ending about midway down her thigh. She is shod in soft, flat brown slippers that show off her ankles. The dress is held closed by several latches; one at the neck connecting the two collar pieces, two over her heart where the dress folds over, and two on her left side. They are all wooden toggles (buttons, more or less) carved in the shapes of blossoms and painted gold. The dress and pants are trimmed with gold, and patterns of spring blossoms in gold are sewn into her dress.
When she needs to be nation-neutral, Xia Feng wears a golden yellow tunic trimmed in brown embroidery of lotuses spits on either hip and reachs her knees. A sash of pink satin clings to her waist, and trousers of rough cotton dyed a deep, rich brown tied off at mid-calf, though they are not skin tight but snug. Simple flat pink slippers and straw chinaman hat completes her outfit.
Weapons: None.
Personality:
Xia Feng, to put it simply, is timid. When she was little, her father and mother raised her to be seen and not heard -- a little old fashioned, but Xia Feng didn't realize that at the time. She is meek, obedient, and quiet. Xia Feng normally gentle and very motherly, but she can be quiet and almost secluded, giving one an impression of timid-ness, which she can be.
Xia Feng is sensitive and high strung. Though more likely to cry than rage, she is a nervous creature, always worrying and conscious of other people and events. She is surprisingly intuitive, especially about the feelings of others. She's always careful about what to say, hence why she is quiet. However, all of her words are from her heart. Since her pregnancy, her mood swings have worsened as well.
Xia Feng is caring. Love is the essence of life to her, and she gives it to everyone. She wishes only for another's happiness, often sacrificing her own for it. Gentle, she would never hurt anyone intentionally and acts similarly to a mother hen around others. She can get attached to anyone easily, and will dote on her friends. She loves deeply, and trusts too much, which is not always a good combination.
Xia Feng has a problem with pleasing people. She would do anything to please anyone, even a complete stranger, and this is her downfall. To this end, Xia Feng is caught somewhere between happiness and unhappiness. She loved her late husband, but feels that something is missing, even durning her pregnancy, and that it was a mistake to marry him.
Not that she has found out that Jing is dead, however, she is very unsure what to do. Although she did not truly love him the way a wife should love a husband, she does grieve for him, even though she is beginning to notice other men, to which she feels terribly guilty about.
Lately, though, Xia Feng has been free of anyone to tell her what to do. This confuses her. She is finally at a place in her life where she can be her own woman and reach her own happiness, but she is unsure what to do or how to do it. She had trust her parent's guidance and her late husband's authority, but as she travels with the Flame Dancer Gypsy Caravan, she is struggling to find what's best for her and her new son.
Background: Xia Feng was born to a wealthy trader and his wife in the village of Xing. She was the second and last child, one that was not at all expected due to the age of her parents. But they were a happy family, living a very comfortable life. Xia Feng's older brother, Daiki, was already seventeen when she was born, and one of her earliest memories was her clinging to her mother Nuo Xue's dress when her brother left for the war.
Growing up, she was of course taught to read, write, and figure arithmetic as well as history and to paint a little and flower arrangement. She put her heart into her studies to please her parents, who were a little old fashioned in the way they raised her. They taught her to be silent, to be kind and gentle, and to do what people asked of her. She was a good child, never doing anything mischievous, even when the temptation was strong.
Xia Feng led a normal life until she became old enough for her father and mother to start considering her marriage. They scouted for candidates, and after a thorough search, they found the Bao family. Their son, Jing, was a lieutenant in the Earth Kingdom army and considerably well off himself. He was seven years Xia Feng's senior, but like her, he was gentle and sweet.
After two years of courtship, Jing Bao of Ba Seng Se took Xia Feng Hui of Xing as his bride. They moved to a little village just north west of Omashu and started a family.
Jing was more often at war than not, but Xia Feng dutifully acted as a housewife. She hired a maid who helped her through the day, but it was more because of her loneliness than anything.
One day, after her parents passed away from old age, Xia Feng discovered that she was with child. The thought that life stirred within her brought her great happiness, and her mood lifted. She sent word to Jing right away begging him to come back as soon as he could.
While Xia Feng was waiting for Jing to come home, a man claiming to be her uncle came to her house in a large village. No one was there (the only maid was out shopping). The man, Keji, said that the Fire Nation was going to attack soon and that she should flee with him immediately. She refused, scared out of her wits, and after numerous attempts, he finally ceded and handed her a map with a way to him should his prediction should show true. He said that they could take care of her and her baby.
She thought about burning the map, but instead stowed it in her desk. From then on, she totally forgot about the map and the mysterious man… that is, until the Fire Nation actually came to her village and raised it. She wandered around, weak and scared and near her time, looking for her husband, until she met a group of people who helped deliver a healthy baby boy, Tarak. On the day Tarak was born, though, she found out that her husband, Jing, had died in battle -- a hero's death.
Her conflicting joy and sorrow did not last long as a fire broke out in the woods, forcing Xia to run from her new friends and into the arms of the Flame Dancer Gypsy Caravan. The leaders, Huang and Juning, though of Fire Nation decent, took her in and cared for her. She learned that the Gypsy Caravan entertained the solders of the Fire Nation, but stayed out of the war, and even had members from the Water Tribes and her own Earth Kingdom. She made friends with Bai-Wu and Li-Wu, as well as another mother, who had wandered into the caravan shortly after Xia, Kura and her two children.
Together, they spent a month before Kura had to go back to her natal home and Xia decided to unburden the Gypsies with her presents. The twins, Kura and her children, and a man named Fukuro traveled to Kura's village, and made their way on to Tachi Dai, where the map said that her uncle's camp would be. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?), a battle had been fought there and there was no trace of her uncle, so Xia Feng made the decision to stay with the gypsies.
Sample RP: Xia gave the Twins a tight smile. It was so very kind of them... and it wasn't just her fellow citizens that died here, but her fellow human beings as well. It was important that all dead where honored, whatever they did in life.
Wasn't this all circumstance anyways? Herself could have very easily been born in the Fire Nation -- or even the Water Tribes. The gypsies proved to her that not all Firebenders were bad, or that all people from the Fire Nation wanted to see her dead. Everyone was just caught up in war... Did anyone even know what all the fighting was about anymore? Tears stung in her eyes. She didn't want to raise her son like this. He didn't deserve a world with so much violence. Kissing the crown of the fuzzy head, Xia turned back to the Twins, at a loss for words. Obviously, whoever waited here for her was gone, and with no clue as to who to go to, she was stuck. She felt very alone now...
"I... There's nothing for me here," she murmured. Her parents had long passed away from old age, and she wasn't going to return to Jing's parents... she was her own woman now. The only hope was her older brother, but she hardly knew him, as he had gone to war before she was even born. Still, she loved him very much. But he lived in the far-off city of Ba Seng Se, and it would be dangerous to ask any of the Caravan to escort her there. Besides, she would only be a burden to her brother's family (was he even married?) and she would once again be trapped and possesed, probably even arranged to marry someone else.
"I... I have something of a favor to ask," she said slowly, looking from one twin to the other. "There... there is nothing here for me. Likewise... there is nothing back home for me. Would.." she hesitated. She didn't want to be a burden on anyone else in the Caravan, but at least she would be happy. "Would it be possible to stay with the Caravan?" she asked awkwardly
