Im new here and waiting for my character to be approved but I do know a good bit about the styles used for the four bending arts (this is what attracted me to the show along with the fact benders can control elements with it)
First, Fire is based off of Northern Shaolin, as it is with northern Chinese style they are given their power and momentum by the movement of the arms and other than kicks the legs dont play a major role. Firebenders use their breath control to control their fire.
Next, Earth is based on Hung Gar a style from Southern China based of the movements of animals such as (if i am correct) Tiger, Crane, Snake, Dragon, and Leopard, as opposed to Northern styles Hung Gar uses the power of stance shifting to power its strikes
Then, Their is Air, also a southern style if i am correct, based off of Pa Qua which uses very circular motions, just like airbending, it is very evasive.
Finally, Tai Chi is the base of waterbending, it uses very fluid movements like water, (i dont know if this is a southern or northern style) waterbenders also get much of their power from the moon and chi, like wise firebenders get power from the sun.
