Of course, an idea that is (unfortunately, as I am a complete Kataang) growing on me is that the man ALSO said that it shows the ones we love. Although Katara and Sokka's visions were both lost and loved, the man didn't say it had to be both. Aang could at some point begin to love Toph instead of Katara.
...Maybe. ;D

My new theory after thinking about what Kura said. DH POST: I base my tehroy in this off of "The Swamp", when the man said that we see what we have lost. But, "Time is an illusion," so HAVE LOST can become WILL LOSE. I think that Toph might eventually have to leave the group, but at the same time, I was speaking with Kura on FS about this, and my theory NOW is this: Aang will start a two part episode by dreaming about the swamp. He'll see the man, "We see the things we have lost. Time is an illusion..." and then he'll see the girl, and it'll come around to Toph's face. He'll wake up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. And then he will defy nature, and save her from whatever fate would have befallen her. That makes it a nice, happy ending for all those 5 year olds out there. Right? Right. Good then. My 6 and one half cents. ;D You posted this on DH? Anyway, if Aang were to have that dream, he would think it was just that -- a dream. It may disturb him, but I can't see it leading to him defying nature to save Toph.

If he does try to defy nature, that defiance will kill Toph. Say he tries to put Toph in some safe house or a cave or something. It'll crumble and kill her. See what I'm saying? If she will die, it's sort of a fate thing. Perhaps they will die together.

It seems to me like this is all taking Hue's words too seriously. As if by taking his attempt to explain the swamp's tendencies literally, you can predict exactly what will befall Toph. By taking only those two things he listed ("people lost and loved," etc.) as the only possible visions that can be seen, it kinda ignores all the other possibilities that are there, but simply weren't mentioned during their talk with Hue.
Not to mention that Toph has had people on her tail since she's joined the show. It's only a matter of time before the Gaang meets up with Shin Fu and Master Wu, likely soon now that Appa's gone and can't fly them around so fast. There's also Ozai's Angels chasing after them, so at any given time they could be ambushed and suffer a loss of the group. Toph is the most likely candidate for elimination simply because she's the newest member and people are unsure whether they mean for her to stick around til the end.
Then again, there's always the possibility that Hue's explation of seeing loved ones including Toph. By no means does it mean a Tophaang pairing, but it does mean that they could come to love each other as friends. It'd be wierd if they ever said it out loud, but I'm certain there's a certain amount of love betweem each member of the group so far. Loving does not necessarily mean being in love, so Toph could have simply appeared in Aang's vision for that reason.
Finally, though, there's still the random possibility that Aang saw Toph because he needed to find a teacher. He is the Avatar, after all, and likely has help from the spirits of his past lives. If they felt he needed help in finding a teacher, sending a vision certainly would be one way to help.
In any case, Toph's fate is up to the writers, but I wouldn't assume anything concrete just because of the Swamp.
