You know like Toph's Earthbending is based on Southern Praying Mantis. As long as it shares the same ideas and principles is it within reason? For example Tae Kwon Do could possibly be a firebending art so could Changquan (LongFist) and I was wondering if i could base my characters bending off of a art similar in style to Hung Gar like Xing YI (a very linear art that uses internal power, and spine snaps too produce power, its main stance San Ti is a very sturdy stance as well) well actually i wanted to base my char's style on a combination of the 2 but youve got the basic idea

As long as you give a legitimate reason why your character is using a different style of bending, then it should be fine. However, benders currently aren't being accepted, so you would have to wait to submit this character ^^;

Well I meant to base my current characters bending off of Hung Gar and Xing YI so the only difference really would be in how I described him Earthbending

That should be fine, I don't really see any problem with that.
