I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
My love for the Kyoshi warriors has been rekindled. I had no idea they use katana and some sort of fold-out shield. Not to mention the battle was against Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee. Too bad they cut it short...grumble...
In it, we are also shown some airbending nuns, baby sky bisons, and several other nifty-looking animals, like the giant beetle, vulture-lion, and porcupine-boar.
So that's all I have to say. It was a good episode that explained a lot, save for that guru...could he read minds or was he just very perceptive? I'd like to see that explained more fully...

Well, the guru was an obvious take from Buddhism, much like whatshisface in the swamp. However, he had unusually sue-like abilities... Ah well, I liked him ;D What I was interested in was the flashback of the Eastern Air Temple. For one, it looks larger than either the Northern or Southern temples from what we've seen, and it almost looks like that's where the bison are bred and housed. Also, now we know that female airbenders 1. have arrows on their head, and 2. also have hair, its just kind of... shaved back almost. I donno, I'll have to watch that part agian. But *yay* for a female air temple! And for young! Appa

That episode was so good, but so sad. I nearly had to turn it off at one point because it was so depressing and I felt bad for Appa. Anyways, what I wanted to mention was the Water Tribe ships/boats that Appa flew over.
Very interesting to me how they showed one man's fast out of all of the men, and zoomed up on it for just a few seconds. I swear that must have been someone important. Like, for instance, Katara and Sokka's father! -le gasp- If you compare the face of that man to the face of his father from Sokka's memories in "Bato of the Watertribe", they almost look alike (maybe, having trouble finding the picture of the man). But I thought it was just interesting, Water Tribe ships in the Earth Kingdom, a random man looking up at the sky to see a flying bison (wind bison?). I don't know, that's just what I thought.
And let's see, what else? There were a lot of new creatures in this one, you know? Like the porcupine-hog, and the huge-butt beetles. And the Kyoshi Warriors rocked! I was screaming like, Nooo! And HAHAHA (when Ty Lee was like: "You are not prettier than us!" ...jealous much? :3) But then they froze the end and I was freaking out. I really hope they don't kill Suki. That would be so sad!
And the guru (sp?) guy was funny. But he was really smart when he faked-dead until Appa was comfortable with him. Aaah, it was so intense.

As soon as I saw that scene, I was positive the man was Hakoda. He looks just like him - the cheekbones are definately the same, if nothing else - and besides, he had an expression on his face that reminded me of Sokka. I hope we learn more about the Air Nomads. The Eastern Air Temple looked so beautiful! And yes, now we have a close-up view of Air Nomad women, and we also know their hair color ^^

They did a great job with this one. I think one of Avatar's strong suits has been giving their animal characters real emotion. Appa's Lost Days shows the more than anything. It couldn't have been more obvious what was going on if Appa was talking. That's great TV.
I also wouldn't count on the Kiyoshi warriors to last too long. Those three fire nation girls are pretty much ownage. I thought the fact and the way they waved away Appa was inspired.
I hate this Earth Kingdom guy... the way he snagged Appa was so amazing though, you have to respect the man.

I think that the Eastern Air Temple was indeed a breeding place for flying bison since it has been stated its a girl temple (pretty sure) so why were a bunch of boys there unless they had a special reason (getting their bison) this episode was very interesting I think youre wrong about the Kyoshi Warriors they ARE very talented and Im sure that they could all take those three the guru is wierd hes the first guy IVE seen in the show that seemed more Indian than Chinese or Japanese or whatever the other one is
I KNEW long Feng mustve been an Earthbender and the way you saw him just slip into the ground explains his 'appaering out of nowhere'
