Jialing's 2008 Questions
1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? Took Summer Classes, played Hospice Nurse and handled a lot of gross bodily functions. I also got into three Art Shows with my Tongue Tied peice.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I can never keep these and will probably make a resolution and not succeed once again.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope
4. Did anyone close to you die? My father did.
5. What countries did you visit? Amish Country. Does that count?
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? I'd like to have a job doing art in some form or another. A job that pays well enough that I can afford my own small, but nice apartment and leave this area.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? July 13th will because it's the day my Father passed. Other than that, there really are no memories that truly stick in my mind.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Definitely being accepted to the Juried Art Show 'Make Believe: Virtual Truths in Digital Forms' show at the Studio Arts Center in Southbend, Indiana. I was one of 10 BGSU pieces chosen. This was the first show I had seriously entered and it was a huge success. It has given me the confidence that yes, I am a capable artist, that yes my work is beautiful and people enjoy it.
9. What was your biggest failure? I don't think I was as.. sensitive to my Father as I should have been before he died. I know that when I was staying up every night so someone would be available during the wee hours of the night, I should have actually sat in his room, been more attentive, struck up conversation. But when someone is dying and when they look like that, it's hard. You don't want to be there. You're physically scared and just so depressed. I feel immense guilt because of that. Immense guilt and I regret it everyday.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I personally have yet to get truly sick other than a nice cold that knocked me on my butt in the spring.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Best thing I bought? Probably my Mucha Books. His work inspires me so much. And my 500GB harddrive. It saved me when my old laptop crashed.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I think my Maternal Grandparents did. They really stepped up when we lost Dad. I also think Ikeru's behavior has improved the past few months and would like to toast to her.
My roommate Jenny, also put up with another two semesters of my horrendous mood swings, cleaning addiction, depression and crushes. She also introduced me to knew Music.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My Dad's Family. Truly Ugliness. My Great Aunt called the day of the obit's printing and complained that she wasn't mentioned. I threw the phone as soon as she hung up. She is a money and attention grubbing woman and this is only one mild example of what she does. No one on my Dad's family invited us over to Christmas Eve, as per tradition, which was a big disappointment. I've never been close to them and probably never will.
14. Where did most of your money go? Prints. Prints. Prints. And gunk.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? I got really excited about the new Goo Goo Dolls Single that Came out. I got really excited about UVERworld.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008? "未来の破片" By Asian Kung-Fu Generation. No, I can't translate it. I have no clue what it's about, but Jenny and I played the hell out of it.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? Sadder b) thinner or fatter? Maybe a little thinner..? c) richer or poorer? Richer?
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? I wish I had honestly spent more time with my Dad instead of hiding in my room.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Hung out on the computer.
20. How did you spend Christmas? With my Mother mostly, my friends here, and my Grandma and Grandpa. Also, Gave Kirby plenty of snuggles.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008? Kinda sorta?
22. What was your favorite TV program? House M.D., Scrubs, TimeWarp, Ghost Hunters.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Oh I'm sure. I hate my Great Aunt now. I'm not so forgiving of my Uncles.
24. What was the best book you read? I didn't read much this year, nothing that wasn't school related. *shrug* Sorry. I am however looking forward to reading my GIANT Mucha Book in 2009.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? UVERworld, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, We The Kings
26. What did you want and get? I got my desk easel.. and I got a DS which I didn't ask for, but it's very nice to receive.
27. What did you want and not get? I didn't really want anything. I did want a Leon Magnus Figurine.. and I didn't get that but I can buy it myself.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? ...I don't think I saw any films. Well I did see The Dark Knight. I liked that.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Didn't do much. Went out to dinner with the family. It was quiet. I turned 22.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Dad beating Cancer. Hands down.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Slumpy. Jeans and Hoodies.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Probably Takuya from UVERworld
34. What political issue stirred you the most? Uh.... Er.... Um..... I got real sick of the Obama fandom real quick despite the fact I voted for him. Real sick of 'em rubbing it in the McCain fandom's face. That's really rude and dispectful. Sore Winners.
35. Who did you miss? Honestly, My two best friend, Alicia and Gage. They never contact me.. and I'm probably too proud to contact them.
36. Who was the best new person you met? Zhi.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. Oh god.. I learned probably so many. I think I learn a lot of humility. I am easier on people I think and I've learned to cherish the faith that people into me.
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "Revolutionaries wait For my head on a silver plate Just a puppet on a lonely string Oh who would ever want to be king?" - "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I’ve ever made a new years resolution before but I may make one this year, just not sure what it’d be, heh. Maybe to meet up with some good friends in time.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope
4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes, my Grandfather passed away January eleventh of 2008
5. What countries did you visit? None, never been outside of the U.S.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? May 8th, the day I registered on FS heh
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Hmm, Graduating from High School, also, being selected to tutor for the Middle Eastern Humanities class I aced last semester

11. What was the best thing you bought? Probably my MiG-17 Aircraft Book. Also, a book for someone, hee~
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Not sure
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? The way my mother’s siblings started to act in the wake of my grandfather’s death. They’re systematically removing my grandmother’s freedoms as she now lives alone. My aunt recently got her driver’s license taken away on a technicality and they’re plotting to force her out and into a home. Sick.
14. Where did most of your money go? Raspberry Italian Sodas with Half and Half from the campus Java City place and some art supplies I really haven’t really had much inspiration to use yet.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? Definitely happier than I was, as Grandpa was in and out of consciousness in the ICU about this time b) thinner or fatter? 18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Wish I’d have practice driving and studied moar for my classes, well, math, at least.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Procrastinate, I could really do that a great deal less.
20. How did you spend Christmas? Same old, same old, though I did get up at noon on Christmas day, ffffff, that was rather lame, but we did all of our usual traditional Xmas stuff as a family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008? Maybe a little.. *skitters*
22. What was your favorite TV program? I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I’ve always been a Stargate fan, at least when it came to the earlier episodes.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Some Soviet marches maybe? I’ve picked up heaps of music with my Shiftay Methods.

27. What did you want and not get? Oh, Call of Duty World at War, I suppose, though I’ve heard from pretty reliable sources that it wasn’t that great. A few new pairs of jeans would have been nice too.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don’t really follow celebs or the like so no one.
34. What political issue stirred you the most? I was rather passionate about the election, though didn’t register in time to vote. Due to California’s usual leanings, however, my vote would have been rendered rather worthless by the Electoral College system. Still missed out on the props though, was hoping to help knock out 8 (hate) but meh.
35. Who did you miss? Prolly my pals Cody and Eric, the former is extremely busy these days and the later is attending college down in NM.
36. Who was the best new person you met? Jia, Heb and Tali, love you guys.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. I suppose that life can be tough, but there’s always someone out there worse off than you are, and someone out there better off than you are.
Also, sometimes you have to stop being stupid and listen to friends? Maybe? And, last thing, sometimes you can do dumb things on impulse and find they come out alright, though, not something I’m going to make a habit out of.
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. I’m really bad at this sort of thing, don’t think I can really do it. Hmph.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? Been supreme oppressive dictator admin of a site. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't think I've ever made a New Year's resolution in my life. There's no reason I need to feel worse about letting myself down. 3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, that was last year, suckers. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Not yet... 5. What countries did you visit? Spain, and The Netherlands I guess. The latter only to switch planes, for some reason. 6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? More patience, particularly with people. 7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? January 1st, the night/morning I met my love. 8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Not losing my cool on countless occasions, and winning the approval of some people who once hated me. Yes I mean you, Jia. 9. What was your biggest failure? Spirit Crisis! Joking. Probably that I couldn't be the kind of person I wanted to on so many occasions; sticking to the background, not making a memorable impression on new and interesting people when I could, not keeping old relationships alive, generally not being a reliable friend, and dwelling on unhealthy thoughts. That was not a question I wanted to answer, mind you. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not that I recall? Other than the 428 times I stubbed my toe, or all the minor bruises to my pride. 11. What was the best thing you bought? My iPod. 12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My friend Tony, sort of. I'm not gonna go into detail, but he got better after a huge crash and burn. 13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My friend Thom. Amazing I still consider him a friend... 14. Where did most of your money go? Clothes... 15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The Avatar finale, but it wore off after it aired. Kind of obvious there. 16. What song will always remind you of 2008? "Fly" by Sarah Brightman. 17. Compared to this time last year, are you:a) happier or sadder? Sadder, regrettably. Dot, dot, dot. b) thinner or fatter? I think about the same. So, not applicable. c) richer or poorer? Same as above. 18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Interacted outside the internet. 19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Overthinking, overanalyzing, obsessing. Oh, and sleeping. 20. How did you spend Christmas? With my love. We made pizzas. Yay for weird traditions? 21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I sure did. Let's hope it lasts. 22. What was your favorite TV program? Avatar and Heroes. 23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Not sure...? 24. What was the best book you read? What are these 'books' you speak of? 25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Anggun. I soon became a devotee. 26. What did you want and get? Nothing major. I'm pretty complacent. 27. What did you want and not get? The face of the world to change permanently and significantly for the better. 28. What was your favorite film of this year? What are these 'films' you speak of? 29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I actually mostly lurked around Feng Shui, but also went out to eat at Tokyo, a local sushi restaurant. I turned 22. 30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? That's a loaded question if I ever heard one. Apparently so loaded that I missed it the first time around. I guess just succeeding at what I try, and wishing the same on others. What else can I do? 31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Fierce. Seriously though, not too shabby. 32. What kept you sane? Feng Shui and its members, though they sometimes did just the opposite. 33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None. I don't follow such things. 34. What political issue stirred you the most? As much as I'd like to repeat what I said above, it was proposition 8. 35. Who did you miss? Auina, but in a more vague sense of the word, a certain aforementioned person who gained considerable stupidity and lost common sense. 36. Who was the best new person you met? *copies Heb shamelessly* Zhi!37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. People may think what they will about you, but quietly standing off on the sidelines won't help. 38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.Go away desperation now's the time to leave me alone, on my own Go away all regrets I never want to see you again, it's your end Go away far from here and back to where you come from Run as fast as you can away from my home "Go", Anggun
