Name:Taiki Nakamura ('Great Presence', 'Center of the Village', Last-First)
Age:21
Gender:Male
Nation:Northern Water Tribe
Bender?:Waterbender
Physical Appearance:Nakamura has straight brown hair down to about the middle of his ears which contrasts with his bright blue eyes. His brown hair is notably lighter than most other Water Tribe members. Nakamura has a medium build, not necessarily strong, and 5' 9.5'' tall. His face is fairly pointy. His eyes are narrowed most of the time, but this is mainly because the sun hurts them. He has a fairly light complexion for where he's from, his skin only slightly tanned.
Clothing/Armor:Nakamura wears a wrap around blue long sleeve shirt with plain navy long pants. The shirt is held closed with a white obi just above his waist. The ends of the shirt hang down like upside down triangles on either side of his torso, the flat ends of which have white trim. The pants are made of heavy woolen material so they are warm in all sorts of weather, and they are a bit baggy, making ventilation easier. Both have white trim around the openings (ankles, waist, wrists, neck). If he is traveling, or needs to be hidden for some reason, he wears his brown cloak with a hood. If it's cold, he wears his blue parka, which has long sleeves, and white frilly fur around the outside of the hood, the bottom, and the sleeves. Other than this, his parka has no ornamentation. The parka itself is very thick, although it acts as more of an insulator than anything else. Thus, even if it is overly hot, he doesn't sweat in it. This is good, because then his sweat would freeze, and he'd be cold. He also wears his blue mittens, which are blue, with white frilly fur around the wrist openings. He always wears his brown leather boots. He also wears a brown waterskin, made from leather, which has a small rope attached to it that holds it over his right shoulder. It comes down to hang on his left side, with a cork in the top to hold water in. It holds water for him to bend. He also carries a backpack, carried over the shoulder. The backpack's colors are dark navy. It's a small backpack, but it isn't so small that it can't carry what he needs it to.
Weapons:(none)
Personality:Nakamura is pretty quiet, shy around most people, but if you can get past his exterior, he's a good friend. More often than not, he'll be enjoying himself looking at the moon. It comforts him when he looks at it, because it's much more peaceful than the sun, and it doesn't hurt his eyes. He isn't very strong as muscles come, but he has a bright mind; he can think up solutions to most any problem. He sometimes seems cold to others when he doesn't mean to be, but as the old saying goes, "Cold hands, warm heart." Sometimes, he can be very blunt, although this is simply his way of speaking. He doesn't have many friends, so he speaks his mind, because he isn't used to speaking.
After he traveled, he became more outspoken about his views, and has generally become headstrong, though he isn't stupid about it. He really wishes that he would be allowed to marry, though that seems far-fetched right now. He still believes that he did no wrong by helping Raine, but he still feels obligated to fulfill his punishment, nontheless. His loyalty to his tribe and his own idealism clash within him, and create contradictory actions and viewpoints within him.
Background:Nakamura was born into a lower class family, and he was raised in the North Pole. As a lower class 'person', he learned it was his job to keep people 'above' him happy. This made him very shy, somewhat timid. As a young child, his father taught him waterbending, since he was a master of it. Since the training began, he was very close to his father, looking up to him, and his father was proud of his son, for being a waterbender.
He was a shy boy, and didn't make many friends. He began to mature as a waterbender around the age of 10. He wasn't necessarily very good at it, but he wasn't bad either. He focused on making himself the best waterbender he could be so that he could serve those 'above' him.
When the Avatar came with his companions, he watched Katara fight Master Pakku. He was amazed by her waterbending skill. After she had trained, Nakamura was soundly beaten by her several times. His position after most losses was buried in a pile of snow, so he referred to himself as the 'Unfortunate Snowman', much to the other students laughter. Of course, very few people lasted long against Katara, so when he lost, he good naturedly got over it, although he wished he'd been stronger. He sought better bending skills because then he could better serve those 'above' him.
When the Fire Nation attacked, he was kept back as a reserve, simply to protect the women and children. Afterwards, looking on the ruined city, he decided he'd leave to fight the fire nation. His father and mother, however, would not consent. He frustratingly argued with them for some time over it, and yet they would not allow him to go. His father's consent was a great matter to him, since he was so close to his family.
So he gave up on leaving. Instead, he asked if he could further train in waterbending to defend his home. At this, his father consented, and so he trains with the interim Master, since Pakku left to help rebuild the South Pole Tribe. He is getting better in his waterbending skills, specifically in the use of ice.
After this, he met a girl named Raine, and helped her find her younger sister, who was lost. He then found out that she was a waterbender, and though he initially rebuffed her for it, they both reconciled. Her mother asked Nakamura to do the unthinkable- to take Raine away, so she could mature on her own, away from prejudice. Nakamura, who'd just had a fight with his father, was rebellious, and was stupid and naïve enough to do it. They ran off together.
They were shipped off to the Earth kingdom on a ship they found fixing damage in a bay near the edge of the Northern ice. Once there, they immediately found themselves in Zhy. Unbenknownst to them, Fire Nation soldiers were there- they were quickly captured, but they escaped. However, they were seperated. Nakamura ran east, towards Ba Seng Sei. Seeking safety, he kept going that direction.
He eventually met up with Thayari, and the mountain water benders. However, seeing them made him homesick, so he made his way North, and was taken back home on a trading ship of the Harta family. He was tried and found guilty of breaking the tribe's laws, and he was stripped of his male status. He was now the equivalent of a women, and was also stripped of his family heritage. He was to be one and apart. Forever.
He now lays in jail, waiting for his 'parole officer' who will be a woman, to come and get him. Jail is a boring place, though...
Sample RP:Nakamura sighed, looking at his boss. The boss smiled. "Busy day, eh?"
Nakamura grinned weakly. "Yeah."
His boss handed him some gold pieces. "Well, nice work today, boy. You can go."
Nakamura walked outside the restaurant, seeing it was dark. He didn't see many people out. How peaceful. His parka provided all the warmth he'd need, although his nose was being punished for protruding from his face so far. He sniffled. He couldn't smell much, although he was certain pleasing smells would come out of the restaurant.
He walked through the city, down the main street, towards the sound of running water, his arms held tightly across each other, to keep himself warm. As he neared the sound, the water became visible, running quickly, smoothly, through the night. He crossed over it, on a bridge made of ice. It arched over the water, which reflected the moon. Once he was across, he headed up a large hill. The night was beautiful. Nothing like it in all the world.
At the top, he sat down on the edge of the cliff, which was on the other side of the hill. It wasn't a straight fall cliff, more of a 100 degree cliff. Still, he didn't want to fall, so he backed up just a bit. He looked up into the night sky, admiring the stars, the moon, the simple SIZE of the sky.
He smiled. This was where he was truly at home. Among the stars, at night. They smiled down on him, as he smiled up at them. He stretched, pushing his arms upward, and his legs downward. This uncovered his chest, parka or not, and a blast of frigid cold sent his arms back across his chest. He laughed and got up. Tomorrow, he'd have to work again. He needed rest.
As he started back across the bridge, and down the main street, the moon looked down on him, watching over him.
