Enitsua shook her head sympathetically, "It's easy. Come on, I'll teach you." she offered. She rose gracefully from the bench and returned within seconds, her face hidden behind the enormous brass instrument. "First, you have to hold it. Then you gots to put your mouth to it. Then you gots to blow. Remember to press the buttons. I don't know what they're for because I never tried, but you press them and they make pretty sounds." she explained somewhat lamely.
The boy was older. Surely he could figure out which of those buttons to press and when...it couldn't be that hard, could it? She handed the instrument over to him and crossed her arms. "Now you try, go on. You can do it!" she cheered.

Sho held the intrument awkwardly. Apparently Enitsua didn't see Sho's I don't know how to play as a I don't want to play so leave me alone, like it was meant to be. Trying to politely ignore Enitsua's glare, he was just about to refuse once again. However, some of the crew was now taking notice of the new arrival holding the instrument.
"I... erm..." he mumbled, color rising in his cheeks. By the looks of everyone surrounding him, he had no chance but to play something. Even if that something made everyone run from the room. And.. he thought, Then they'll never ask me to play again.
Now slightly calmer, Sho positioned the horn. Slowly he brought the instrument to his lips, closed his eyes, and blew. Out soared a relatively warm and steady note. Sho opened his eyes, and started pressing buttons. Perhaps he could fake a melody after all...

Enitsua applauded enthusiastically. "MORE! You can actually play? You know I was kidding right? Well, now that you are, morrreee!" She set her drums aside and stood, her nightgown swishing around in the wind.
She drew her arms across her neck and began a soft mourning dance, making elegant gestures and taking delicate steps across the deck. It was very haphazardly done - her legs trembling, her stubby fingers anything but graceful, yet her dancing was very emotional - an attempt to mimic the elegant dancers she once so admired.
The music quickened and fused into a hearty march, a new set of voices accompanying the music. Enitsua spun and sang, flashing images of laughing hangovers swirling around her. This was the best time of day, where she could sing and dance freely, and nobody would remember it the next day. Nobody can spoil this for me...

Sho tried to follow the rest of the musicians as the tempo and the mood changed. Out popped many odd sounding notes, but Sho actually found it quite enjoyable to try and keep up and contribute somehow. It was almost like this music thing was a long lost hobby.
The notes Sho played now became a bit more enthusiastic and his volume greater as he played along with Enitsua's dance and the singing of the crew. In fact, the whole place seemed to be loud and full of activity. Why, it was a chaotic party.
Even if Sho worried a bit about everyone's obxiousness, the feeling of his lips against the cool metal seemed to ice away his feelings. The music continued like this; loud and full of feeling.

Enitsua bobbed a curtsy and rose to an eruption of applause. Beaming she drew herself to full height and marched over to Sho before sitting. The men began a drinking game in which she could not participate in. Oh you just wait...
Suddenly, a defeated looking man rose from his seat and walked over to the rail. He wiped his sweaty brow before hurling, loud retching noises cutting off the music. It wasn't unusual for drinkers to have upset stomach...but what was wrong with this man? His body began trembling wildly, and just as another crewman stood to help him, he tumbled off the rail and landed in the murky waters.
"MAN OVER BOARD! MAN OVER BOARD!" she panicked, screaming as the people around her dashed around, tossing ropes, calling for extra aid. She trembled and clung to her seat as the chaos around her unraveled. Something could spoil...how ironic

Zuko had not been able to sleep with the full noise of music night and the thoughts that passed through his mind. Someone was playing the Sungi horn (rather awkwardly) and someone else was singing along with it. The noise was faint at first, then it grew louder as the men of his crew cheered.
Suddenly, he heard something different; the music came to a halt and a scream echoed. The only word he was able to get out of it was...'overboard.'
That was enough to get Zuko to his feet and dashing out of his room toward the deck. As he ran, the shouts of crew members became more drastic.
"I don't see him! Where is he?!" one man yelled.
"What if he's uncounsious?!" said another.
Zuko shoved his way to the railing a searched the ocean frantically, looking for any sign of a person floating along the water...

It was obvious to Sho that the man was not coming back. Being drunk, sick, and exhusted from vomiting (not to mention swimming in/near your vomit) probably did not enhance your swimming ability. Sho searched the ocean, hoping that he was wrong, but there was no sight of him. Then man had been down a long time, it would be stupid to imagine he was still breathing. Sho gave a sad nod to the others searching.
"He's gone." Sho commented to the prince who was one of the others searching. "Or at least, it's unlikely to the point of being stupid to imagine he's still alive."

Zuko breathed heavily. A death on his ship is not something he would take lightly. On all days, this had to happen now?! Just when he thought it couldn't get any worse. He was responsible for his crew and this was something he was afraid of happening.
There was a heavy silence on the ship. Zuko sighed and continued to look the waters. Soon he was the last one standing at the railing, watching the waves in the distance. Anger rose inside him, his hands steamed as he gripped the railing. He was mad at himself; he was mad about this day and all the painful things that came along with it.

Most of the crew had wondered to the other parts of the ship, but Sho remained on deck. Leaning against the side of the door that led into the kitchen, Sho observed the sky. It was peaceful out here. Especially when you took a look at the stars twinkling. However, Sho still had a mildly restless soul from the recent events.
He turned his head torward the prince, who was still at the railing. Steam began to rise from him, and Sho suddenly had a pit in his stomach. Was it sympathy, or dislike? Sho couldn't tell the difference. He began to take a few cautious steps torward Zuko. Soon, Sho was down the railing from the prince. He stared awkwardly into the sea and pasted frequent glances over to the prince. Sho's feelings about the death were a bit unclear to him. Sure it was depressing, but wasn't it fate? Unsure exactly what to say, Sho sighed.

Zuko took a glance at the boy standing not too far from him. It was the same boy from earlier; the one he ran into on lower deck. Judging from the way the boy approached him, it seemed that he was trying to say something.
Sighing quietly, Zuko let go of the railing; his eyes still fixed in the distance of the ocean. "What is it?" he said to the boy, with slight anger in his voice, "Is there something you need to tell me?" Zuko kept his gaze firm and tried not to seem too angry. He wasn't in the mood to talk, but he pushed it aside and asked the boy anyway.

Sho sighed again, random words still trying to piece and sew together his thoughts and emotions. His slid his finger along the railing, and passed a long thoughtful look into the ocean.
"Well..." He started lamely. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry that happened. But situations like that are just kind of meant to be, aren't they? Can we really control death?" He stopped to let the words sink in before continuing. "I mean. I guess I'm just sorry and I hope you won't get to worked up about this, well because, it's kind of beyond control."
Sho put his full wait on the railing and waited for a reaction. He would surely be told to never lecture the prince and that he really had no right speaking. It was still worth a try.

"It's not just that," said Zuko immediately. "Its...this whole day."
Why was he talking to this person? This crew member probably had no idea what Zuko was even talking about. No one knew or understood. But Zuko rarely had anyone to talk to in the first place. He always had to keep his thoughts locked up.
"Forget it. I'm going to bed..." said Zuko tiredly as he walked away, rubbing his right eye. He never liked touching his scar, and on a day like this, he didn't even want to think about it. But it was always there, following him around like a perminent reminder.

Sho looked after the prince expectantly, like he would suddenly turn back around and tell him something. Sho had been itching to here what he had been about to say. However, Sho noticed that Zuko wasn't stopping. Feeling like he needed to spare a parting word, Sho ran up close behind him.
"I'm Sho, by the way." He said trying to muster up a weak smile. He reached the door and took a step inside. "And if you need to talk to me, I'm always around." He continued down the hallway into where he was sharing a room with the engineer. His 'roomate' was already asleep, so Sho tiptoed to his bed and slid in, mind still going over the events. It was like his brain couldn't stop thinking. He eventually feel into a dream-filled sleep.

Enitsua fled from the scene, not wanting anything to do with the death. No one ever died on the ship...atleast she'd never seen it happen. She wasn't even suppose to be outside...she was suppose to be sleeping. How many other's died with her back turned? Did the same thing happen to the merchant that supposedly 'died of a mysterious mauling'?
Her door stood ajar, her bed, warm and inviting - but sleep wasn't what she wanted. She hesitated for a moment before sliding the door shut - she needed some food to calm her nerves.
Shadows lined the corridors and the pipes hissed overhead. Why am I beginning to notice everything? she thought wildly, clinging nervously to the banister. Soft illuminating light shone from the galley and a dark silhouette shook in the room. It was too large to be a mouse...it couldn't be, could it?

Zuko walked down the dark corridors of the hallway, his mind rewinding the sequence of events of the day, and the list of things he would have to do tomorrow.
'The day is almost over...' he thought to himself. Sighing, he rubbed his temple and opened the door to his room once he had reached it.
He already had his red trimmed robe on and so he slid comfortably into the covers of his bed. He was exausted and his eyes were heavy with sleep. In a matter of minutes, he fell into a deep sleep, not wanting to wake up for a long while.
