Enitsua yawned softly, tipping master's meal onto the silver platter. She drooled enviously at the feast laid before her; quail eggs, preservatives, pot-stickers, ale, freshly churned butter, and the light syrup delicately drizzled over the custards, crinkling slightly at the edges. Too bad she was forbidden to have any of them, let alone allowing the food to spoil.
Her hands trembled slightly under the immense weight ever-slowly piling, her palms beaded with rivulets of sweat; it was a miracle cook could proceed with the next counter of cuisinery - indifferent to her quiet protests.
"One more thing!" cook snapped, grabbing her by the wrist as she turned to leave. With a graceful sweep, of sleeves, an ornate pewter teapot appeared at the far corner with two matching teacups. "Now go on and don't spill" cook said, giving her a gentle shove "...again" he added as an after thought.
Balancing under the platter, she retreated from behind the counter and proceeded to the door flap. Suddenly, the platter slipped from her grasp and clattered to the ground, food, teapot, and all strewn across the floor. Enitsua squeezed her eyes shut, her little hands balled up in fists under her sleeves. "shoot.." she whispered.

Leaning on the doorway of the kitchen, Sho laughed quietly. He'd only been on this boat for a day (one of the crew was sent away with a terrible fever and they had needed a replacement until his health was back up to scratch) and he could already tell that this was an average day for that girl. He slided up next to her, sweeping up a few shattered tea cup pieces before trying to grace her with what he hoped was a lighthearted smile.
"Looks like we have a little mess here." He said casually as he picked up the nicely cracked teapot. He examined it closely. "You know, I think I like it better this way. Now it looks... used."

Enitsua smiled delicately and turned away. "y-yea...it's supposed to be kept that way." she replied, "but I like it shattered...it looks creative. It won't be too much of use though." she said in a matter-of-factly tone.
She swiveled around and snatched a tumble of fluffy towels, "gimme a hand" she demanded, tossing half the stack to the boy..man...teen. Dropping the stack to the ground, she began retrieving the strewn objects...
Cook crossed his arm, breathing down her back. "I told you.. don't spill and you don't listen eh? well I'll tell you, making a hell lotta noise at dawn. You better hope'en pray your master's in a good mood, or he'll have yer neck and mine!" he hissed, his minty breath swirling around her.
"I know I kn-"
"Don't give me a 'i know' because none of it has gotten inta yer mind now, has it?" he asked, rapping her head with the spatula. Frowning, she threw herself onto the ground and swept the remaining of the silverware into bundles. Out of the earshot of cook, she turned to the newcomer "My name's Enitsua" she said, lugging the pile to the incinerator, "what's yours?"

Sho watched as the little one tried lugging the silverware. He felt sypathedic torwards her. She was clearly unable to preform any of the work she was asked to do, no matter how hard she tried. He tried to help her get the pile up to where it needed to be with a little push. He knew his help wouldn't do much for her, but it was worth a shot. People, or at least the cook, seemed to treat her unfairly.
Eying the the cook with dislike, he gave a mumbled, "Sho." He turned back to Enitsua. "Does he always act like that?" He asked, his voice in a fierce whisper.

"I'm no slave" Enitsua said, watching Sho's hawk-like glares, "I do this willingly. And don't go'en look at cooky like that. He's bit grumpy in the morn'ngs, but he's alright. One you should watchout for though is Master. Oh yea...him's bit nasty temper he is" she said, nodding as though agreeing with herself.
Humming to herself, she took another platter, and piled it with a bit of eggs and bacon. "This'll do for now...I suppose. I can't cook much" she said, shaking her head, "but bacon and eggs are just fiinne". Smiling, she heaved the platter to her right arm, and swooped a pot of tea with a matching cup. "we'll...I gotsta give this to master. See you 'round!" she said cheerfully, stumbling out the doorway.

Sho watched thoughtfully as Enitsua stumbled out of his sight. He looked at the place where she had left for awhile, thoughts about what she said randomly popping into his mind. His eyes seemed to narrow as he realized that doing this willingly meant that she had no other place to go. Sho just couldn't picture this little girl in her home, chatting to her parents with excited bliss about her dreams to be a servant in the palace. She was much to young for this work.
Still, he had other duties to take care of for now. Quietly, he headed to the back of the ship, where he would begin his first day duties. Perhaps he would see the little one later. Then he could observe her more closely.

"Winter Spring, Summer and Fall. Winter Spring, Summer and Fall. Four seasons...hmm hm hmm" Enitsua hummed, triapsing through the corridor. There was something very familiar about that tune although she couldn't seem to point out why.
Sho...funny person, she concluded. What was he doing here? Shrugging to herself, she glided up the stairwells and proceeded to master's quarters - pausing to eavesdrop at every door. Giggling to herself, she pressed her ear into the lock, trying in vain to stiffle her laughter.
Frowning to herself, she approached a heavy iron door, bolted three times shut. Smiling to herself, she unlocked them, one at a time, and marched inside, the door swinging shut behind her. Enitsua blanched, her knuckles whitening. Around her were artillery of all kinds; cannons, bombs - and...blood crusted pikes? "BLOOOD!" she screamed, pounding on the door that somehow managed to lock her in. "LEMME OUT, LEMME OUT!" she shrieked, the platter cast aside.

Sho sighed as he walked into the long corridor, a steel box soon to be filled with micellanous tools, clutched in his hand. Hard work awaited him. It was one of the enginer helpers that left - a very important job that really took no skill. All he had to do was do whatever the head technical guy wanted. The work was supposed to be tough. Must have been why the replacement was so important. As he pondered what fun, grease-filled adventures awaited him, he heard a strange banging on a door.
He turned abruptly to a large, intimidating door, where the sound seemed to be coming from. He heard screaming, a girl's voice. "...Enitsua?"

There was a faint voice 'Enitsua'. Someone heard her? "he-no HELLO? ANYONE THERE? Oh stop faking and lemme out of this this..this torture chamber" she ended somewhat lamely. "please..." She began sniffling and slumped to the ground, rocking back and forth on her heels. Assuming the voice was a hallucination, she brought the Prince's breakfast to her knees and began her way through the cold slimy eggs and bacon.
'I'll just get another serving.." she told herself, 'master'll probably tell me to get some more. He wouldn't want this cold food' The more she thought on it, the more she craved the feast laid before her. Shrugging in the darkness, she emptied the platter, her back against the weapons. "Four seasons..for loove. Four seasons...for loove...."

Sho's eyes widened. Enitsua was stuck in there? Not good. He tried to push open the heavy door, but it was a hopeless attempt. The door had locked itself automatically. Sho stopped. That meant she had to have gone in willingly with a key... or someone had pushed her in there. He took a few passes of the hallway, but there was no one. Sho stuck his hand into his small pocket, but he only had a key to the supply closet.
"Enitsua! Do you still have your keys?!"

"SHO!" Enitsua shrieked happily, wrenching herself from the floor. "Keys? I-I don't have no keys...they don't give me no keys 'round here. You mean there isn't a lock? Isn't it bolted shut? I don't remember any keyholes to be exact."
Gasping to herself, she clapped her hands over her mouth. "I know what it is. Ghosts! They're spirits of the sea. Daddy told me a story about them once." She cleared her throat from behind the door and began in a gruff voice, a poor attempt to mimic her father "let's see 'Sea spirits hunt and eat little children who don't listen and respect their elders' I swear I didn't do nothing wrong!" she protested to nobody in particular.

Sho shook his head and rolled his eyes a bit. "There aren't any ghosts in there!"
His mind returned to what Enitsua had said before. Bolts? His eyes wondered to the door again. Slapping his head he exclaimed. "How could I have been so stupid?" It probably just been nerves. Keeping a cool head would be a smart thing to do from now on... especially with this one. One by one, he undid the bolts from the door. It swung open with a low groan.
"Now just what were you doing...!" His eyes wondered to the weapondry. "...in here?"

"uhh....eavesdropping" Enitsua mumbled, cheeks reddening. "I didn't know what was 'ere. Does get in the kicks don't it? finding bloody killing stuff... Anyhow, I gotsta git back in the galley. Got hungry waiting...see you in a bit" she continued quickly. She dashed off, the empty platter bulging from under her kimono. "Thanks again!" she whispered back, trudging back to cook. She knew what was in store...and wasn't looking forward to it.
Groaning, she stumbled towards the galley and threw the door open. Cook was red-faced, holding a pan of gasoline, muttering something about drowning rats. "EEEEEE COOKY NONONO! don't kill the poor rat, don't! Doesn't everything deserve a chance to live?" Enitsua blubbered, trying to restrain the cook.
"Yes, everything but you and more" he snapped, swatting blindly in the air. "STOP IT STOP IT! RUN MOUSY, RUUNN!" she shrieked, forcing cook backwards.

Sho watched speechlessly as she dashed away and laughed lightly as he heard the racket she was making in the kitchen. Quite a fire cracker that one. An amused smile on his face, Sho continued his walk to the supply closet where he piled the tools needed for the day's work. He was actually looking forward to getting to work. It wasn't the work so much he enjoyed, just the feeling of feeling needed and accomplished.
When Sho got back to his place, he started his work. It wasn't long before he was thirsting a snack and a break, but once he started it was hard to stop. When someone tapped him on the shoulder for a small refreshment of bread, he was surprised to see the the sun was far lower in the sky than when he started.

By noon, Enitsua had finally achieved what was meant to be completed by early morning - deliver her masters breakfast...lunch, in this case. Quite positive he would refuse the untimely meal, she dashed from his room as soon as the platter left her hand. Hopefully, when she returned for it, he would be long gone...
Satisfied with herself, Enitsua moved to wash the deck, a difficult task since the 'squid' incident occured a few days back. Refusing to accept that she was to blame for the tumbled cargo of fresh seafood, she moved to the supply closet and retrieved a bundle of clean rags as well as some fresh lemons from the frozen storage - and a pail of water. Sloshing water from the pail, she proceeded to the deck where there was sunlight - and oh Agni...she definitely needed some fresh air...
