"Well," he said, "Soccer practice, maybe. I'm not sure... it depends on who shows up at the lot this morning. Nothing else much. We don't get much business on the weekends." They continued walking, and soon they were close enough to the dining room that they entered the line. It was long. But Yasu was too deep in thought to bother paying attention. Taka would probably be busy all day. She'd probably have to stay out of his way. She crossed her arms over her chest, delicately tapping her chin with one finger, oblivious to the look Taka was sending her.
Yasu suspected the Taka wouldn't want her hanging around him the whole time, now that they were home. Maybe she should speak to his father, and get a new mission? No, she was too tired. She needed her rest befor she went after more Fire Nation soldiers. Besides, all her arrows were lost. She sighed inwardly and moved a bit further into the line. She would have to speak to his mother then, and see if she could get a job around here. He did suggest getting a job at the Inn. That sounded good. Perhaps she could work as a server or something. Surely Taka wouldn't want her hanging around him. But I want to see him play soccer, her mind inwardly whined, I wanted to see an actual soccer game...
But then again...if Taka hadn't wanted her to be around him, he would'nt have "invited" her to the dining hall with him. Unless he was just showing pity on her because she had gotten herself lost. She was so muddled in the brain that she jumped when a voice reached out to her.
"Eggs?"
She blinked at the server, and then looked down at the tray she held in her hand. When had she gotten that? "Yes please," she answered softly, holding the tray up. The server handed her the eggs and she passed by the biscuits, sending a look of utter discuss toward them. She found some fruit, and then headed after Taka. It was when he sat down that she noticed he looked a bit...down. Did she bother him that much? Argh!
She sat down quietly across from him, not looking up at him as she began to eat the eggs. Mmmm, so good... she thought. She finally looked up and scrutinized the teen in front of her. Finally, she spoke up, "Taka-kun, are you feeling alright?"

Taka was still eating his eggs when Yasu suddenly asked, "Taka-kun, are you feeling alright?"
He eyed her for a moment, thinking. Did she say that because she was concerned about him? If she was, that was a good thing. It meant that she was nice enough to care about him when he felt down. He supposed that that was his reason for looking all mopey. He had subcoinciously hoped she'd say something.
He smiled weakly, and said, "Uh... yeah... just a little tired." He thought a moment, and then said what he knew would sink him... she'd see Arai at the practice. "Why don't you come with me to soccer practice? You aren't doing anything today, are you?" he asked. He hoped she would come, even though he knew she wouldn't like him afterwards. If she even liked him now. He finished eating, and sat back for a moment, letting the meal settle. He then took a drink of water, before getting up. "I'm off. Coming?" He started walking outside to the door. The sun shone brightly through the windows, and a cool breeze was enough to make the day bearable. He was wearing sandals, but he'd take them off as he got outside. He played barefoot, just like the other kids did.

Yasu Al looked at the teen across from her nervously. If his breakfast was going to suddenly re-appear in front of her, she wanted to be ready to bolt for the nearest door. She was queasy around that stuff. She wasn't a big fan of seeing other people getting sick. That nervous soon become something of an uncomfortable silence, because he was suddenly eyeing her. Her face flushed and she looked down at her eggs and fruit. She poked at the fruit, picking up a bite and placing it in her mouth. It was awkward, but she felt uncomfortable. And when uncomfortable, eat!
"Uh... yeah... just a little tired." She looked back up at him, narrowing her eyes quietly and looking at him hard. Yes, he did seem tired. Would he be able to play soccer if he was tired? "Why don't you come with me to soccer practice? You aren't doing anything today, are you?" he suddenly asked. He seemed a little distracted, and a little hesitant on asking her to come. Her eyes saddened. Maybe she was just a burden. But she swallowed down the lump in her throat and lifted her head, smiling shyly. "No, I'm not doing anything," Duh! "I'd like to come watch you."
She finished eating in silence. "I'm off. Coming?" She jumped in her seat and looked up. He was already standing and walking away. Her eyes widened and she quickly finished her drink before following quickly behind him, her braid bouncing behind her. She walked outside, and took in a deep breath. It was sunny out today, with a cool breeze. It was a perfect day. They never had days like this in the Fire Nation. It was always really hot there. Tropical. The Earth Kingdom was so different. She breathed out.

He sighed as they approached the field. There it was. On either side, stone grandstands rose into the sky about 35 feet. It was amazing to see. On the plain dirt field, the orange dirt was backed into a hard surface. The lines drawn were in harder stone, so it was easier to see. The two goals at either end were stone as well, with nets hanging down. There was only one person there right now... and it was Arai. No mistaking him.
He was a giant, nearly a head taller than Taka, and almost two heads on Yasu. He was their forward, a giant whose headed scoring none could stop. He was muscular, much more than Taka (again), and he was...well... good at looking cool. He waved over at Taka. "Hey Taka-kun? Who's that good looking girl you got there?" he asked, playing. It was his sweet talk, of course. And most girls fell for it. It sounded cheesy to Taka, but heck, he couldn't tell.
"She's Yasu, from the Rebellion," he said. Before Yasu could stage protest, he said, "All the kids on our team are from the Rebellion too. No need to be secretive over here." He playfully punched Arai on the shoulder. "She ain't mine to 'have' anyway. Cmon, let's drill. The other will be here soon."
He took on Arai one on one for a while, stopping most attempts Arai had on goal. One spectacular save was when Arai came at him full blast, but Taka slide tackled him and sent him to the ground, while he had the ball. Others came soon, and they had a full field scrimmage going. The skill on the ball depended on the person, but most of them were good.
Taka stopped everything that came his way... the goalkeeper looked bored. But every now and then, he would glance over at Yasu. Was she watching him? Or Arai? Please be watching me he thought. Please be watching me.
Then, when they were sprinting up on a counter attack, one of the opposing defenders badly cleared a ball straight out to Taka. Taka, not usually one to shoot, took one touch outside with the ball, before sending it straight up to the goal, moving like a missile. It struck the top bar, a ping sounding off that shattered the near monotony of the practice. Many of them players whistled, laughing. "Why can't you do that in the game, Taka?" joked Arai.
"I could do it if I got the ball a bit more. It's hard to shoot from half field!" he called back. He looked over to Yasu. Had she seen? Had she seen? Why was he like this?
He grinned as he looked over at her. Arai, the captain, called a break. He walked over towards Yasu. For once, he didn't actually stink. They'd been mostly playing around, not really going at it. So he didn't mind being around her. He smiled at her directly. "Is it any fun, watching I mean?"

They walked in silence. That was okay. It was heavy, but Yasu was too busy looking at everything around her. The town had grown. It was looking much better, she'd admit it. THey paused outside the field, and Yasu's eyes widened slightly. On either side, a stone grandstand rose into the sky about thirty-five feet. It was a plain dirt field, the lines drawn were in stone, and the dirt was an orange-ish hue. There were two goals at either end, with nets. As Yasu's golden eyes made a quick look-around, she caught someone walking over.
Woah. This kid was huge. Taller than Taka. And she thought Taka was tall! He was muscular, and looked completely laid-back. He waved, and Yasu glanced over to Taka curiously. Who was this kid? "Hey Taka-kun? Who's that good looking girl you got there?" called the boy. Yasu flushed and looked down, unconsciously stepping a bit closer to Taka, a bit behind him. Yep, that's Yasu for you: a shy little prude.
"She's Yasu, from the Rebellion," he said. Yasu's head snapped up and she lifted a finger, beginning to come up with some corny story for making up for what Taka had said, but Taka beat her to it. "All the kids on our team are from the Rebellion too. No need to be secretive over here," he explained. Yasu nodded slowly as he playfully punched the kid on the shoulder. "She ain't mine to 'have' anyway. Cmon, let's drill. The other will be here soon." She looked around, and decided against sitting on the stands. She waved shyly to the kid before sitting herself down on the ground, right where she stood. She was out of the way here, but she could still see clearly.
For a while, Taka played against this new guy. From the knowledge Yasu had gathered, Taka was pretty good. But so was the other kid. Taka could keep the ball away from him, and save the ball from hitting the net. Soon, other kids started coming. The guys looked at her strangely as they passed her, and she wiggled nervously. Were they giving her those looks because she was Fire Nation? Or because she was just a girl?
Yasu kept her eyes on the boy from earlier, and on Taka. The way he reacted to the ball. Most of the time, she was watching Taka. The kid in the goal was looking kind of bored; Taka kept the ball away from the net and the kid in the goal. Taka would stop every once in a while, but why, she couldn't tell. Was it part of the game? She frowned in thought. Of course, from where she sat, she couldn't tell that he would be glancing at her.
While Yasu kind of dazed off in thought, she heard something ping against the top bar. SHe jumped, eyes wide awake now. She looked around. The boys were whistling, and laughing. "Why can't you do that in the game, Taka?" joked the boy from earlier. She sighed, deflated. She had missed something, hadn't she? Of course she had. She sighed again, but smiled brightly. Whatever it had been, it had been something to do with the opposing goal, right? So he must've done something really good!
"I could do it if I got the ball a bit more. It's hard to shoot from half field!" he called back. Yasu smiled at him when he looked over in her direction, acting as if she had indeed seen. She felt bad for missing it, for some weird reason. He'd probably come running up talking about it sooner or later. That was okay. She'd rather him explain it to her anyways.
He grinned as he looked over at her. The kid from earlier called a time-out or something, and Taka walked over towards Yasu. "Is it any fun, watching I mean?"
Yasu couldn't help but smile up at him, because: one, she just wanted to smile; and two because she was still sitting down. "Yeah. I like to watch. Its the only way to learn. Plus, you're all really good. Its exciting!" And she meant it. She grinned up at him.

SHE WAS SMILING! He felt his stomach leap up into his throat. She looked so cute when she was smiling like that. She'd seen him after all. He went into a babbling ramble about his shot, and how it'd been so close to missing, but that only a person with his expertise could have done it, generally making a fool of himself. But then again, most guys did around girls.
He continued rambling on for so long that he didn't notice another boy behind him. "HEY! Dunce! This is OUR practice session. Scram." Taka turned round, quite angry that his moment was ruined, and saw, quite possibly, the last person he wanted to see.
"What are YOU blathering about, idiot? Northwest doesn't practice until after lunch. We asked too."
"THE SCHEDUALE CHANGED!"
"WELL NOBODY TOLD US!"
"DUNCE!"
"IDIOT!"
"WOULD YOU TWO PLEASE SHUT UP?!" yelled Arai, who had finally came over to settle the fight. By now, to Yasu, it had to be obvious. The other team was Tachi Dai Northwest, the team that Tachi Dai North was playing in a few days.
Arai started to try and cool them both down. "Look, scheduales get messed up all the time, okay? Give us a break. Besides, we can scrimmage. Right Taka?"
Taka glared at the boy, grinding his teeth. "...Right. I'll see you on the field Touya."
The boy just smirked and walked off. "We'll be skins. You pale people can be shirts. Your girl looks pale enough to catch fire!" He laughed as he ran off towards other boys. Various sizes, various ages, and they were all against North.
Taka grumbled about 'idiots', and then turned to Yasu. "I'd get in the stands if I were you. This could be a bit ugly." He wished he could stay longer and talk, but that's all he could say before he ran back on the field to get into position. A true game was about to begin, and it would be MUCH harder than the first one Yasu saw.

Taka seemed stunned about her answer, and for a moment, didn't speak. Yasu Al thought she had done something wrong and she began to retrack in her mind what she had said. Just as she was about to say something else, Taka began to ramble on about something about a shot, and how it had been so close to missing, and that only someone with his expertise could have made it. Yasu blinked a few times, and then her smile widened. So, she had missed something! She had missed a shot of his! She mentally kicked herself for her mistake, but smiled anyways, because he seemed happy with his shot.
Soon, Yasu's attention was pulled away from him. Some boys had appeared, and one of them came up behind Taka. Yasu slowly stood with the grace of a noblewoman, something she did without thinking periodically. A few years at the Fire Nation Academy for Young Girls did that to her,
"Hey! Dunce! This is our practice session. Scram." Yasu winced at the boy's tone, and Taka turned around.
"What are you blathering about, Idiot? Northwest doesn't practice until after lunch. We asked, too."
The talking turned into yelling, and Yasu felt herself beginning to get irritated. Stupid boys. Fighting over a silly game. She sighed mentally and stepped back a little, looking around some more. Yeah, more boys had turned up. And from...Northwest Tachi Dai, she guessed. From what Taka had said, that's what she had gathered.
"DUNCE!"
"IDIOT!"
"WOULD YOU TWO PLEASE SHUT UP?!" yelled the boy from earlier, who had finally came over to settle the fight. Yasu was pulled from her thoughts at this point, because his voice was loud enough. "Look, scheduales get messed up all the time, okay? Give us a break. Besides, we can scrimmage. Right Taka?"
Yasu glanced at Taka, who wasg laring at the newer boy. "...Right. I'll see you on the field, Touya."
The boy --Touya, Yasu's mind supplied-- just smirked and walked off. "We'll be skins. You pale people can be shirts. Your girl looks pale enough to catch fire!" He laughed as he ran off towards other boys.
Yasu's eye twitched, and she thought hottily: If only I had been born a bender, then we'd see who'd be on fire... But she hadn't been born a fire-bender, and therefore her thoughts were pitiless.
Taka grumbled about 'idiots', and then turned to Yasu. "I'd get in the stands if I were you. This could be a bit ugly." Yasu nodded and spun around on her heels in a huff, an irritated scowl on her face, her braid swinging over her shoulder with the force of the turn. She sat herself in the stands, glaring at the boys from NorthWest. Beat their sorry butts into the ground, Taka...

Arai kicked the ball backwards, as the game began. The game was immediately dirty, with both sides committing fouls that normally could have been ejections. But in this game, it was no holds barred. And it was obvious. Taka, angrily defending the goal, slide tackled Touya hard enough to send him slamming face first into the dirt ground. Taka took the ball upfield, meeting a player at about half field. He took one touch inside, then one out, in quick succession, succesfully tricking the defender. He then sprinted up the side, undefended. He saw Arai in the box, and, hoping that he could get in a good header, kicked the ball, which curled outward, towards Arai. Arai leapt into the air, and, turning his head to the left, slammed the ball past the Northwest keeper with his forehead.
Arai pumped his fist and yelled in triumph, and the whole team congratulated them. It was a well scored goal. Northwest, however, was angry. Obviously.
On the next possesion, Touya hit a shot from a long way out, which the North keeper did well to save. But it was still a corner kick for the opposing team. Taka knew he had to clear it with his head. As the corner kick came in, he jumped up to hit it out with his head, but he was elbowed from one of the Northwest players. The ball was somehow in the net, and he was bleeding from the nose, holding it on the ground. He had no idea how he got there.
"Whatcha gonna to girly? Whine about it?" asked Touya.
And in that moment, Taka knew it had been him that did it. "THAT IS IT!" he yelled. He punched Touya in the face, and the brawl was on. Everybody hit everybody, blood was coming from everywhere, and Touya was on the ground, holding his nose. Taka was about to kick him in his anger, but stopped, because Touya was down. He instead went after another Northwest player who was going after the goalkeeper.
After another few minutes, both teams, bloody and beaten, sat down to rest in opposing camps. Both agreed to hold off the fight... at least until the game.
Taka, bloodied in the nose, and still very angry, walked over towards Yasu. A glare was on his face, but it wasn't her fault. He breathed out, and said, "I'm steamed. I'm going swimming." And walked off towards the swimming river, putting his sandals on.

Yasu paid more attention in this game. She was rooting silently from the stand, watching with a not-so-trained eye on the ball. Someone just got tackled, and Yasu's eyes widened when she realized it was Taka who slid-tackled Touya into the dirt hard enough that he went face-first into the dirt! Taka took the ball upfield, and Yasu felt a small cheer rise to her throat, but held it back. Instead, she sat silently from the stands, watching with interest. There, Taka passed the ball to the boy from earlier. And he butted the ball into the net with a cry of triumph. Yasu couldn't help the small smile that rose to her face and the small 'whoop' that exited her mouth with a clap of her hands.
Northwest looked pissed.
Something else was happening now. Someone was hitting the ball from a corner. Taka jumped up to hit the ball with his head as it came, but Touya elbowed him to the ground. Yasu was standing now, eyes wide. Touya said something to Taka, and the next thing she knew, the field was broken out in a fight. Eyes wide, Yasu considered going down to break it up. Taka punched Touya to the ground, and she saw a bit of blood spurt out. Yasu, feeling queesy at the sight, slowly lowered herself to the stands once more, a hand holding her forehead up in shock as the fight went on. Boys were idiots.
A few minutes passed before both teams, all bloodied up and black and blue, separated to their own sides. An agreement, perhaps, had been set? Someone was walking toward her, and she lifted her head a bit more to see. It was Taka, his nose bloodied up, with a scowl on his face. Yasu didn't even flinch (she was, however, a bit neuseated at all the blood).
"I'm steamed. I'm going swimming." And walked off towards the swimming river, putting his sandals on.
Yasu watched him curiously. She glanced back at the other boys, who were separated. She bit her lip in thought. She had heard to stay away from boys after they had fought, because they still had the adrenalin and stuff. She considered herself safest with Taka, than with a bunch of other boys she didn't know. But she probably shouldn't go with him to the river. She blushed hard at the thought. Perhaps explore?
With a sigh she stood, brushing herself off as she hopped off the stands. Oh well, let's see what the day will bring. Maybe something else will happen besides a bunch of idiotic boys bloodying each other up...

::~4 hours later~::
Taka was walking back from swimming. He'd been able to wash off the blood and dry his clothes, plus get in some swimming. He felt good. A fight, every now and again, was good for you. It took out all your excess rage.
He yawned. He was tired though, and hungry; he'd wasted a lot of energy fighting. He'd gotten a little tanned from his swimming, though one might call it instead a light sunburn. It looked about the same though. He ran a hand through his hair, messing it up a bit. He really was kind of tired. He walked back slowly, passing by people down the street, though there were few. It was lunch hour. Few people would be out and about during lunch. Most shops shut down, anyway.
He headed over towards the Inn, hoping to catch lunch. He walked in the door, and turned left. There was a short line, and soon, he had a plate full of fish (quite a rarity around Tachi Dai), and some vegetables. But mostly fish. Meat sounded good right now.
He turned round, looking for a place to sit.

Yasu had spent the last four hours trying to figure out what to do for the next four hours, starting from the point where Taka had stormed off to the point where she had gathered some food and sat at a secluded table. She had done absolutely nothing, besides wandering around aimlessly. She avoided the boys from the field, a little annoyed with them and herself. She had thought about going down to her room, but when she neared the 'elevator' she chickened out and continued her aimless wanderings.
But now she sat at a secluded table, chopsticks in hand, as she gazed down at the cooked fish, vegetables, rice, and many other goodies on her dish. Her mouth was drooling by the time she brought the first bite of fish to her mouth. It smelled delicious! She was so envious of Taka; he could eat this whenever he pleased! She shut her eyes and sighed heavily as the fish seemed to melt in her mouth. She didn't even realize how hungry she was until then! She could have eaten a platypus bear if she didn't get any food in her any later!
Something, she didn't know what, made her look up. Curious at what had made her do that, she looked around. She saw him. He had just left the line. She looked around, as he looked around. She was farther away from him, so of course he might not be able to see her. She bit her lip nervously; should she call out? She would be too embarassed for that. She could already feel the blush coming up. Shaking her head, she looked back at her fish, still pondering. He might not want to sit with her. She bet he was tired of her by now.
But still.
She looked back up and he was still there, looking around. She sighed heavily and lifted her hand into the air, and waved it slowly. "Taka-kun, over here!" she yelled softly. Her cheeks flushed in embarassment as a few people looked her way, but she kept waving him over.

"Taka-kun, over here!"
He heard the call, and recognized the voice, but couldn't find Yasu. Maybe she was further back? Now that he was looking around, he could see her. He was glad that he'd washed off. She probably wouldn't have wanted to be near him if he hadn't.
He grinned, and waved back, and made his way over to her. It wasn't easy; he had to work his way through all the other people. They stared at him, some of them grinning, assuming that the two were close. But they weren't. And that was funny.
As he got closer, he could see that her face was a bit red. Maybe she got sunburned? No... Fire Nationers couldn't possibly be sunburned. No way. But whatever it was, it faded as he got closer.
Since she was seated in a booth, he sat beside her. It felt kind of nice just to sit beside her. Besides, she didn't seem to mind. "Hi Yasu-chan... er... sorry about the fighting..." he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.

He looked around some more, and seemed to spot her, so she lowered her hand into her lap and turned in her seat so that she was once more facing her food. She blinked a few times, and then looked back up to where he ha been standing. She was still getting strange looks, but most of them were now directed at Taka as he made his way over to her. She noted that he had washed off all the blood; that was a relief. She sighed and as he got closer, she shifted in her seat and picked up her chopsticks once more.
She was sitting in a booth, and just thought that he would sit across from her. But he sat next to her. Was she blushing? No, she was fighting it down successfully and for that she was thankfully.
"Hi Yasu-chan... er... sorry about the fighting..." he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. 'Yasu-Chan'? she thought with a blink, the chopsticks that were brought to her mouth paused at the lip. She glanced back at him. Now that she thought back on it, she had started calling him 'Taka-Kun', hadn't she? She took on a puzzled look for a moment, but then a small smile returned to her lips. It made since, she wasn't a child, per se, but she was younger than Taka by a good few years, so it made perfect sense for him to call her -chan!
"It's okay, Taka," she said softly as she brought the bite to her mouth. After she had swallowed, she looked at him and gave him a small smile. "You told me that your two teams fought, didn't you? It was expected. But when you said 'fights' earlier, I hadn't assumed something like that." She frowned and looked back at her plate. "Are you alright, though? Didn't you hit your nose pretty hard?" She looked back at him with a tinge of worry.

She frowned and looked back at her plate. "Are you alright, though? Didn't you hit your nose pretty hard?" She looked back at him with what might have been worry.
He thought a moment. Well... he WAS okay. But his NOSE hurt a bit. Not really enough to bother him... not if he didn't touch it, anyway. "Yeah, I'm alright," he said. He was alright! After all, he was just fine. He stuck his thumb against his nose, and ran it over the ridge of it, the gesture, 'No skin off my nose', without thinking.
He should have thought.
"OW!" he cried. He held both hands over his nose. That HURT! How could he forget so fast? He needed to quit showing off in front of her. A single tear slid down his face. Dangit, crying now, he thought to himself. You wuss! Another tear followed, and he tried to blink it back.
"Okay... okay," he said hoarsely. "I'm ALMOST fine..."
The panging hurt had slowed to a dull throb. It still hurt bad enough that tears kept coming. He kept his hands over his nose.

"Yeah, I'm alright," he said after a few minutes. Then, he stuck his thumb against his nose, and ran it over the ridge of it. Her eyes widened when his eyes did, as if he suddenly realized how painful it actually was to do that. "OW!" he cried. He held both hands over his nose. She started to giggle; yes, she was laughing at his pain (kind of sad, but she thought it was kind of funny). But that small laughter quickly stopped when she saw a single tear slide down his face.
Never had she seen a man cry before. Well, okay, that wasn't true. She had seen a few men after a battle cry, a few Rebel men from the Fire Nation. But that was only after a battle when they had returned back to camp.
"Okay... okay," he said hoarsely. "I'm ALMOST fine..."
He kept his hands over his nose, and even though he was tearing, Yasu couldn't help but give off a bitter laugh. Stupid boy... She stood and scooted her way out of the bench. "I'll be right back," she said absent-mindedly as she looked around a moment. Then suddenly her eyes snapped back to him, and she gave him a hard look, her golden eyes flashing slightly, almost in determination, "Don't move."
She disappeared into the aisles and aisles of tables and chairs and went to one of the kitchens. She came back out about ten minutes later, and she walked back to Taka and her table. She grabbed his hand and faced it palm up, almost forcibly, and placed a bag of something cold and wet into it. Then, her hard and determined look fell and she smiled brightly. "That should help. Its ice; I was surprised the Inn even kept ice. But it does!" She sat back in her seat. "Just put it on your nose, it should numb the pain." She glanced back at him and then suddenly blushed, and looked back at her dish.
