Ekram Kiros, Ambassador of the Mighty Fire Nation, stood in his room, getting measured for the ball. The smell of rich mahogany and sweet peach incense filled the room, the smoke causing an ethereal haziness to it. A wide grin was set upon the gentle mouth of Kiros, glad to be home after months of traveling. He stood on a small oak stand, legs apart and arms stretched out as three women hounded over him, taking measurements with pieces of string. They, like everything else in his home, smelled of blossoms and honey, and along with the incense it created an aroma of nature and beauty. He despised a dirty home, and his servants made sure that his home was ready upon word of his return, for even one speck of dust would incite his wrath.
Although his clothes were kept clean and well-taken care of on the road, nonethless, an occaison such as this one required new clothes to be made. His parents were throwing a ball to welcome their son home and many esteemed and powerful people would likely be there for both him, and for his parents. It would provide yet another opportunity for him to increase his reknown and power. Only the best would do. And so, the young women took great care in their work, measruing twice, sometimes thrice, to assure the proper shape of his outfit. Without a sound, the trio finished their work and shuffled out of the room and somewhere into the depths of the mansion.
His parents were retired now, living out in some village, and he had inherited their mansion in the capital. Not that he needed to inherit it really. He made plenty of money at his position and more than enough to buy this place. But he liked it, it brought memories of his grandfather back to him. That's also why he kept the smell of peaches with him. It was his grandfather's favorite insence. His thoughts were cut in two. It was Maki who had knocked at his door.
"I'm sorry to interrupt Master Kiros, but your tea is ready."
"Excellent. Thank you Maki. Tell my parents I'll be with them shortly."
The young man, barely visible through the thin bamboo of the sliding door vanished without a trace. The onyx river that Kiros called his hair, laid loosely at his shoulders, as he took a few final breaths of the sweet odor. Finally, he descended from the stand and walked smoothly over to his closet, picking out a simple ashen grey hakama and jacket, with a thin crimson cotton obi among the elaborate outfits he normally wore. It was his third day back, and he was not in the mood to dress up just because his parents had suddenly stopped by to visit. Nonetheless, he had to look at least presentable. With another deep sigh he nimbly brought his hair up into a top knot, two red jade pins holding it in place as he wrapped a black ribbon around it's bottom. One last look in the mirror and he turned on his heel, out of his room and towards the dining hall.

A new home was not what healer would have wanted but well. Beggers couldn't choosers right?
Sekar of course was no beggar. After working as a Fire Nation medic in Earth Kingdom for sometime was given permisson to go back home well sort off. Colonel Shinu sent the Raven Healer back to the Fire Nation with alot of gold a his old physican's clinic in Lun Yang. Sekar was disappointed that he wouldn't be in Hokage but Lun Yang was were his old friend Hao was. So it wouldn't so bad.
The clinic was named. "Hut-On-In-City" after the old "Hut-On-The-Hill" Lun Yang was busy and busling allowing alot of traffic for Sekar to work. His new house was offically "his" after Tomo screamed on the top of her lungs when she saw a jar of perfectly perservered eyes being used as a paper weight and finding a "stained" loincloth in the middle of living room and with it's owner on the futon passed out naked. Nevertheless after Motoko, Yuka, Tomo and Sarumi stood by Sekar steadfast helping him adjusted to the new city.
On afternoon while Sekar was working on manipura yoga poses and simple firebending forms, Hao arrived silvered haired and with his bamboo cane. "OI! Raven-man what are you up too boy?" Sekar got out of his trance and greeted his old friend. 'Well well the old dog has finally come out of his house. It's good to see that Gita lets outdoors once in awhile." Hao laughed and embraced Sekar warmly. "I'll make ya pot of lotus petal tea, alright?" Sekar took him into his messy dwelling and pulled out the tea kettle for Hao to make tea.
"When I hear that you were in town I nearly jumped for joy." Huo remarked pouring Sekar tea. "So I have something that will help you get accostomed to the city. My patrons the Ekram family is throwing a ball, I was to be invited, but I'm sixty-two Sekar what I'm going to do at bloody ball, so I thought, Hey your young and now single this would be a great oppertunity for you." Sekar noticed the invite on his table and quirked and look at his mentor and friend.
"Huo I can't go to a ball, I mean I have patients and-" Huo stopped him. "Sekar you need to stop wasting your life away, now I know you love your job, but Gita and I think you need a good break, your going to the ball." Sekar sighed, "But-" Huo silenced him with a look. "Now I think, I can let my talior make you a nice new robe...something in burgandy will do" Sekar drank his tea, knowing full well that he was now trapped.

The beautiful young man floated down the hallway of his home, silent as a long night inthe far north. Along the way were many sliding reed doors leading to dozens of areas. The kitchen, the storage room, the servants quarters, and even the dojo. He didn't train there anymore though. He preferred training outside, if he ever had the time. It seemed easier out there. Less daunting on his shoulders. His feet finally brought him to the door of the dining room. He looked over his garments once more, adjusting the obi and jacket so that it closed more tightly, and he entered the room.
Upon entering, an entrant would find himself suddenly parallel with two towering statues. One depicting a dragon, the other a fierce lion. Each was crafted of red and green jade bodies with golden accents for claws and teeth. The two eyes of the beasts were fit with one ruby and one emerald each, the jewels sparkling in the soft candlelight of the chamber. The room was hot, mainly because of the candles. Dozens upon dozens of small candles lined the perimeter of the room, the glow refelcting the amber color of the walls. The floors in this room were of the same material as most of the rest of the house, minus the party hall which had marble flooring, oak. The table was grand and made of a dark rosewood imported from the east. And at that table were seated his parents. He removed his sandals outside of the door and made his way to the table, bowing to them.
They were dressed int he finest silks, as always. His father, a traditional man, wore a simple brown kimono that barely concealed his growing pot belly. It would seem the old man had been living the good life since retirement fromt he military. His mother, the picture of grace and looking at least 10 years younger than she was, dressed in an sky blue kimono, white clouds and cherry blossoms the subject of its design. He took a seat and his attendants immediately brought out the Jasmine tea and poured three cups, piping hot and of the best quality.
"It's good to have you home son," his mother said in the doe-like voice she seemed to have possessed since he could recall. His father simply nodded as he took a sip of the tea, a man of few words, he was not someone who showed affection except on the field of battle, buthe was proud of his son and his work to aid the Fire Nation, even if he was doing it in a way that did not follow the family tradition of serving in the military.
"It's good to be home, mother. And good to see both of you. You seem in fine health and it appears the retirement has done well for both you. Though father, I do believe you...could work on that stomach of yours before the ball." His words were coupled with a gentle, sweet smile and a soft chuckle, returned by his mother, his father barely smirking, replying in a simple tone. "We expect you to be in your best accord here. It is important that you show that your trip has shown you both the majesty of the Fire Nation and expanded your mind in terms of knowledge. There will most likely be a host of events like this while you are around, so be preapred." Kiros nodded accordingly, and spoke softly before taking another sip of his tea. "Of course Father."
The silence crept up on them for a moment before his mother quickly took the sign to speak and break it. "So, Kiros. Do tell us about your recent travels." Kiros looked up at her and nodded, beginning with tales of ride acros the ocean.

Hao left with a polite bow and smile to Sekar. "I'll come by later with Sura and Nana work on your outfit for the ball." Sekar sighed again worried that his faithful attendants will probably ambush him soon and carry our their heinous plans....
"I hate baths.." Sekar said frankly as he turned a corner to find Sarumi with a grin. "So...I hear you’re finally getting a life doc? Well well well...you know what this means right?" Sekar froze, they knew. "Whatever do you mean?" Sekar said his voice trembling a little. Then he was ambushed by Motoko who grappled him to the floor. "No no no! Absoult-" Sekar was cut off as he was lifted from the ground and thrown over Motoko shoulder and taken to the bathhouse, and was quickly followed by Yuka and Tomo.
"This is mutiny I tell you! Mutiny!" Called the Raven Healer as he was thrown into the bathouse and cornered by the four women. “Sekar, don’t get us wrong,” Started Saurmi as she opened a basket and pulled out bottles of shampoo and soap.” Motoko and Yuka with great effort began to strip Sekar down to his fundoshi. “We do love you, but you do need a bath Raven-Man.” Sekar was immediately shoved into the warm water as soon as he was whipped free from his loincloth. Sekar looked his attendants with his patented, “Death Glare of Dread” Sarumi clucked her tongue and began pouring the soap in the water and creating a thick lather. Yuka got to work scrubbing the Raven Healer’s back. Sekar sighed knowing now it’s too late. “You know for this act of betrayal…” Yuka began scrubbing his hair, while Motoko and Tomo worked on his feet, making the doctor yelp with indignity. The girls giggled at this making Sekar’s cheeks flush pink. Hot water was dumped on him making his hair a limp mess and the bubbles scatter. “Oh so that’s what Sekar’s BAD! looks like” Commented Motoko, Sekar yelped and shouted, “THE LOT OF YOU OUT!” The girls giggled and scatter just in time before a fireblast nearly scorched Yuka’s gown.
The Healer got out of the tube and dried himself off finding his robes and towel for his hair. Sneeking out of Bathhouse he walked over to his meager home where Hao was waiting. “Oh good youre out of the tube. Sura and Nana are waiting.” Sekar sighed.
Wiill this never end?

Soft chuckles and the low whispers of Kiros' voice echoed lightly in the room. It was nice to be spending some time wit them. Admittedly, his mother could be intrusive, and his father was cold and aloof, but it nice having someone around that was more than just a servant. Not that Maki wasn't close, they were close friends, but it was different. Speaking of....
"Master Kiros, you have another guest. A master Hao."
He looked to his parents, eyebrow raised in questioning before waving to Maki to let the man in. Immediately, his three lovely lady servants appeared and were preparing a place at the table, as well a cup of warm Jasmine tea. The elder man entered and bowed to the three of them taking a seat, a warm smile breaking the silence.
"Ambassador Ekram Kiros. How nice to see you have returned home. I just wanted to stop by and check up with you on something."
"Of course. What is it?"
"Your parents cordially invited me to your return ball, and I graciously accept the invitation and the opportunity, however, I'm getting old, and that sort of event, just really isn't me. So, I was wondering i you would mind if I sent my apprentice in my place."
"It's no trouble to me. You've been a friend of the family for quite some time, and I'm sure you apprentice is as gifted and honorable as yourself. I'll have the guest list updated immediately." His fathers words cut through Kiros' own, not interrupting, butg certainly not waiting for a decent pause. "So tell me, Doctor, how goes the business?"

Huo took out his fan of gold and scarlet and sighed. He really enjoyed working for the Ekram family here in Lun Yang. They were well-mannered and fortunate people. So in that he and Gita were very well off. Though reaching his seventies Huo was getting old for parties and festivties, Though thats what having young friend like Sekar was for
"Business is well Master, I'm working on some new accupunture therories at the moment and I'm treating few people with poor sight with new mixture of coltfoot." Huo fanned himself and took a swig of his tea. "As for my apprentice, he is a brillant and gifted young man. The son of Toya Praagi I might add, the only physcian known to use firebending in medicine. Sekar Praagi takes after him. He's remarkable cleaver and excellent physcian. I will have to introduce you to him Master Kiros." Huo took another sip of his wine and bowed to his patrons.
"Now I will have to depart I need to get Sura and Nana to Sekar's Clinic..."
Currently...
"NO NO NO!" Sekar bellowed as Sura and Nana worked on his measurements. Hao watched them making notes at they did. "Ahh calmed down my wise raven. They are just making sure everything fits. No, no, no Nana, not the ivory, try bone white or light cream he looks good in that. Sura, use apple color a deep crimson, that will look very nice with those . mango colored eyes of his." Sekar grumbled with his eyes being discribed with as a fruit
"I hope there is reason why your dragging me out of my comfort zone-Hey! Thats my thigh!" Sekar barked out as Sura was measuring for pants. Huo smiled internly at Sekar assumtion. He was right, there was a reason. Huo was getting to old for his job, and Sekar being the son of Toya and Hikari Praagi were brilliant healer, he would be perfect to take his place when Huo and Gita retires. Sekar will be set for life, not mention easy pickings when came to apprentice for Raven Healer himself. But he would not tell Sekar of his plans now. There was no reason to..when has introduced Sekar to Kiros maybe he'll hint at something.
Huo left Sekar taking his taliors with him. "I'll come back later with your new robes." Now he need to get back to Ekram House

After the good doctor left, conversation continued, if strained. It was more so just talk of business. How the trip went, the standing of the war, the same things he'd be discussing at the ball. It was really more so of a drilling. After all, he WAS the face of the Fire Nation after all and he would of course need to represent the Ekram family name well. Any slip up in the political world of the Fire Nation could easily lead to demotion and loss of face. It wasn't long before he grew tired of his mother's reactions at his trips and his father's cold ineffectual attitude. As soon as there was a decent pause in the conversation he excused himself, claiming he was still a little tired from the return trip. And he was a little tired, but he had enough of their presence. He never much cared for his father, and his mother still treated him like a child. He already missed the quiet days on the road and the adventure that seemed to appear from nowhere at the same time.
After they left, he exited the beautiful dining room and retired to his chambers. Removing his jacket and kimono, he kneeled in front of the western wall of his room. On the soft amber wood was a large painting of his grandfather. In Kiros' eyes, his grandfather was greater than the Fire Lord himself. He would never say that publicly, but it was how he felt. With the utmost precision, he sparked the incense with two rocks, the peach smell rapidly spreading through the piece. He laid down on the soft mat, his small frame seemingly engulfed by the large bed. Slowly, he slipped into a embracing arms of cold sleep. Such sweet sleep.
THE NEXT DAY.....
Kiros' eyes settled on his target. In the crystal blue water, beneath the flicks of golden glitter of the sun's reflection on the pool, was the fish. It had been at least 2 months since he had done any training with his Kusarigama, and having some free time to do so was nice. He had never really like physical activites. He had originally done them just to keep up inschool and to impress his grandfather. But when he had started to improve, he began to enjoy it, especially his ksarigama training. It felt right in his hands. He cleared his mind once more. Eyeing only the fish. The chain made hardly a sound as he began twirling it at his side, the only sound coming from the holes in the blade, the presistent hooting of a owl on the hunt. Finally, he released the blade, brilliant shining of sun on steel as it cut through the air, into the water, and....around the fish....by a centimeter. It seemed to mock him as it didn't even move out of the way. His eyes scrunched, only to widen at the sudden feel of pain in his calf. He hadn't paid attention to the follow through and was now bleeding, having cut himself. He sighed and placed the blade down, placing his feet into the pool of water, looking at the fish.
"You think you're funny, hmm? I'll get you yet, mortal enemy, Shen. Oh yes I will." The same fish he had been trying to catch with his kusarigama since he was a kid, looking up at him, his catfish whiskers hanging down beside his face. That dumb fish face, his mouthopening and closing, laughing at the young man's efforts. He sighed again, and watched the red line curl out from his wound into the water, washing it away.

After being released from Huo's taliors. Sekar did his normal rounds working with both attendants and panticents. He was getting tired however, and needed to rest. After sun down, Sekar closed up and left the emergancy only sign up.
Laying bed he closed his eyes and felt the darkeness enclose him, it was normal for hims to feel swallowed by darkness still it was unsetting for him. Dark memories of his childhood told him that the dark was bad. Bad things happen. Closing his eyes Sekar slept, fitfully and woke up often,
NEXT DAY
Sekar woke up with sun glaring on him like usual. House to the east was befinical but in the same time, annoying. The Raven Healer got up and dressed in his noramal healer garb. Tomo was serving breakfast to some of the inbound patients, Motoko was doing som moxibution on another. Sekar did his morning rounds and his afternoon with little worry. When evening came Sekar was in his study looking at five diffrent journals on diets and digestives. When Tomo walked in looking confused. "Master my I ask you something?"

Kiros sat in quiet meditation in the garden, shirt off, sitting in his simple ashen kimono, legs crossed seated on a rock in the large pool of water. Shen was swimming slowly through the water, not a care in the world. And that was what Kiros was trying to emulate. Until Maki opened the sliding door to the outside oasis, kneeling down and speaking softly.
"Master Kiros. It's time to prepare for the ball now. If you don't hurry, you'll be late to your own welcome party."
"Yes...I know Maki. I'll be there momentarily."
He took one final breath before standing up slowly on the rock. Taking a glance towards the fish, he hops off and onto the pebbles sorrounding the garden, making his way into the large home. He slipped through the hallways soundlessly, like a ghost, checking up on the home to make sure it was clean and running smoothly. Satisfied, he finally made his way to his dressing room where Maki and the three ladies awaited him. Hanging from the cieling, the sunlight breaking through the thinner silks causing an interesting plaid pattern on the wall. He stood up carefully on the stool and they undressed him and begun preparing him for the ball. There was still much to finalize.

"Of course Tomo, what would like?" Sekar replied with a light smile. Tomo had her face averted and her eyes closed. "You have been very good to me Master, you help me become a great healer and saw potential when others choosed not to. I want to thank you for you kindness, master." Sekar rolled his eyes. Tomo was known for her dramatics, but they were just formalities.
Sekar knew Tomo for years, since he was just a young apprentice in Hokage, he would see her around often at the Hut-On-The-Hill borrowing herbs and medicines. Turns out that Tomo's sisters and herself worked in brothel. Though her mother was well known medicine woman, but after she got remarried, Tomo's stepfather became abusive and cold and needed money, so when Tomo was ten he sold her to brothel for money, she and her two sisters.
Tomo became shy around men and very quiet, the pimp had no use for her, except that she was good at treating sicknesses and knew the right herbs to prevent pregnacies. But she rarely took a costumer, and the pimp was ready to sell her again. If it wasn't for Sekar and Toya who stepped in and made a deal with the pimp and bought Tomo her freedom. However Tomo wanted her sisters freed as well and she works at the clinic to earn money for their freedom as well. Still Tomo holds Sekar in her hightest honor for freeing her. She was excellent doctor and midwife, she also rarely ask for much, so for Sekar to see Tomo ask for anything was a bit of a surprise.
"Master, the girls have been wondering who you are taking for an escort to the ball. Yuka says that she is the best bet because she's oldest worker but Motoko said the is the best choice. But I was wondering.....if....." Tomo paused and looked at Sekar timidly. "If you would take...me." Sekar smirked so Tomo wanted to join with him to ball. Tomo was the most quiet. Her calm engery could prevent him from panicking.
"Alright Mouse, you want to join me? Alright talk to Sarumi, you live with her and Aunt right?" Saurmi and Motoko both have relitives in Lun Yang. Yuka and Motoko, lived with Motoko's older brothers Raj and Mankia.Tomo and Saurmi lived with Saurmi's aunt.
"Yes master I do." Sekar stood up and looked for a new journal to study. "Ask her Aunt if she has any old dress you can spiffy up in. I want you in your best this evening. Alright?" Tomo covered her mouth with a gasp and bobbed her head quickly. "Yes, Master Sekar, thank you!" She hurried out of the hunt and when to tell the other attendants of her good fortune.

It felt like being a piece of cattle, she’d only just settled into a life in the earth kingdom when an announcement for a party in the fire nation presented it’s self. Her brothers were too young, too wild, to be sent to ball. She on the other hand was nearly a woman, without a fiancée. A sigh escaped Xin’s Painted lips as she rummaged around in her room. It seemed like a very old museum to her, nothing had changed, the layers of dust were kept away by the staff but her room no longer held the warmth that it should have. There was just something cold about it, something missing, a piece of her now shattered to pieces from the transition back and forth.
Home hadn’t changed at all, but she wasn’t so sure if that was the same for her. It didn’t shock her when the first tears started to fall down her pale cheeks but she shook her head and wiped them away with a cloth before her makeup would be ruined by their incessant reminders that she was in the fire nation once more.
Her home but not her home, there was no love anymore, her family had sent her back to try and win a prized piece of meat to get their status boosted. Of course she wouldn’t do anything against it, this never meant she was completely fine with the way they treated her. Suppose she was a son, then she’d be given freedom, like her young scholar or even her blood thirsty brother. Jealousy flared in her heart followed by a deep guilt for even thinking such a thing.
The young woman brushed her hair clean and straight before securing it into a pony tail, the ride left her with sea sickness and if she were to attend such a gala affair she’d need rest. Lying down on her old bed even the warm scent of her room was gone, the sheets were cold and pressed but sleep took over her, throwing her to the dreams and nightmares of her subconscious mind.

Nothing but contempt burned behind Jericho's eyes. Her face looked completely absent of emotion, but it was the calm before the storm. It was beneath the young woman to catch a literal temper-tantrum, but it was not beneath her to spend the evening in a bitter silence as way of expressing her disapproval to her mother, and the big oath Madam Masaki.
The young Fire Nation woman stood with perfect posture, assisting in only the slightest ways as her nurse-maids hurried to make her presentable. Hurried as they had just the other day when she was to meet Yishugei. Her eyebrow twitched in a slight scowl, there was no point to her going to this ball other than making a family appearance, if Madam Masaki was pushing her into another potential relationship maybe it wasn't beneath Jericho to catch a temper-tantrum.
She scanned her image in the mirror gingerly, not expressing anything more than venom in her eyes. This was the second day in a row she had been forced to put on a kimono. Though she didn't hate the garbs, she rather liked dressing up occasionally, they had their limits in movement and were considerably uncomfortable- made more so when one did not want to be in them.
Lairs of silk confined her, and though she enjoyed the feeling of the elegant threads on her flesh she hated their ulterior motive. The deep scarlet of the outermost lair was complimented the royal purple obi and the gold tie around it. The bottom of her kimono was embroidered with golden flames that seemed to dance in the light as if they were alive, form the flame rose Phoenix, and from them rose golden stars. Jericho took no pride in the story of rebirth the elegant clothes told, not at the moment. All she could thing about was how pointless this whole venture was going to be.
Her messy bun had been tamed, though her bangs were left free to hang in front of her heavily charcoaled eyes. Hand blown glass flowers- panda lilies to be precise- and beads hung from the two ebony chopsticks held firmly in her bun. Her full lips painted red, and her cheeks touched with rouse; for all the vile she held for this night Jericho could not help but feel pleased in her appearance. As long as Madam Masaki didn't stick her snarling face in she wouldn't have to lie and say she hated everything about this night.
"Jericho." Ai's soothing voice came from the opposite of Jericho's door. She could just imagine how lovely her mother looked. It wasn't until she reminded herself that her mother was one of the forces behind this night that her brow immediately hardened into a scowl. She would not answer back, she would stay strong in her silence. After a long stretch were no one, not even the servants in the room, dare make a sound Ai continued "You've fifteen minutes."
In fifteen minutes her looks would have already been finalized, then it was off to attend another inflated welcome home party for a spoiled, pompous brat.

It was difficult not to feel in awe and reverence when in the Palace's main Ballroom. The roof shimmered with gold the burning zenith of a noonday sun, Fire Nation symbols and images of similar proper design were painted throughout the ceiling, mixed in with vast murals of victorious battles and heavenly inspiration spanning several yards through the sectioned domes. From the cross points hung silk streamers etched in burning red, black, and a soft orange, resembling magma lines floating in the sky, each leading to and through a crystal chandelier that took all the light around it and reflected it back five-fold, pausing for a breath before continuing on to another volcano in the seemingly endless island chain. In the center of the roof, there was a vast hole 25 yards across, covered on the interior with a lens that let the soft glow of the full moon spread through the room, giving everything a semi-divine radiance. The immeasurably tall windows were partially open with crimson veils fluttering like the eyes of a young lady about to receive her first kiss veiling the windows. Tables surrounded the grand ballroom floor, keeping as fine a vigil on the guests as the guards that lined the red and white speckled marble walls. At the North of the Hall, there were several large thrones made of the same material of the walls, but balanced with gold and rich, mahogany. These thrones were clearly meant for the Fire Lord, the guest of honor, and his two parents. But they were empty at the moment, the Lord not having shown his face yet, and Kiros and his parents mingling among the still burgeoning crowd. Interspersed throughout the crowds were waiters and entertainers, serving exotic foods and feats of wonder and beauty to the patrons. Dressed in his best silken robe, the one with all the accouterments, Kiros definitely stole the show, attracting both men and women alike with equal frequency, but managing to bait them all off to each other with simple ruses and a few hushed whispers of rumors and the like. It was far too simple to get the normal people out of his way. And so, he continued the idle chat with some of the older members of the regiments, really just keeping himself preoccupied until a few choice people arrived.

As dusk begins to come with her indigo gown. Sekar prepares for his night out. He complained to Motoko that he still had paticents and paperwork. Motoko told him that Yuka has taken over and the few patiencets residing in the clinic has already taken their evening medication. Still Sekar complained as he tried to fit into his dress robes,
"I look like an idiot." Stated Sekar bluntly as he tigten his crimson sash. He sat in front of the mirror as Sarumi styled his hair. Sekar was wearing a deep tuscan red tunic/gown with long bell sleeves fringed in goldenrod. He had goldenrod cloth in a soft sheer fabric around his waist with yellow pointed shoes and satin trousers. He looked very attractive to the girls. But the Raven Healer thought he looked like an idiot.
Sarumi styled his hair in the formal topnot of his people. Fletched with his totem bird, and set with his father's golden and garent hairpiece. Sekar was a rebel years ago and piereced his ears against his father's wishes. Now instead of wearing silver hoops as a youngster he had simple gold beads. Now he was ready. Yuka ambushed him however just as he was going to stand with some cologue. "ACK NO please!" But it far too late. Now Sekar a light musky odor of jasmine. He wrinkled his nose in distaste. "I will be back soon ladies..." He was slienced when Yuka kissed him on the cheek. "Oh hush you old bird. Huo and Tomo are waiting, behave." Sekar half-grinned and quickly took something off his desk and hid it in his tunic pocket, Motoko and Yuka didn't see it.
Tomo stood outside of the carriage Huo looked impatiant. "Sekar Praaghi it's rude to make a lady wait. " Sekar bowed and took a good look at Tomo. "Wow!" Was his only response at Tomo. She was dressed splendidly in bright apple red chengonsom gown. Embroidered by a lovely scene of flowers and phoenixes in canary yellow, Her hair was loosely braided and had a pair of peoneies tucked in at the start of her braid. She wore a slender gold chain with a pearl tear drop on the end and simple gold posts in hear ears, "Thank you master." Sekar took her hand and kissed it. "You look marvelous Tomo." Tomo's cheeks turned bright red like her gown. She could hear the girls giggle in the background. And with that she joined Sekar in the carriage.
At the Ekram estate Sekar refused to get out the carriage. "Master, please don't emmbarsse me...come on!" Sekar shyiness and unease around people came back to him in a heartbeat. Tomo and Huo had to pull him out. "Now now. Dr. Praaghi show some respect. Tomo keep an eye on this old scallywag." Sekar fumbled around his pocket and pulled out what he was hidding before. "Do you think my jarred eyes would make a good conversaton piece?" Tomo facepalmed herself looking very emmbarssed. "Master Sekar!" She exclaimed shaking her head Huo removed the jar from Sekar. "Lad, you're not doctor toninght. You are just a man tonight so none of this jarred eyeballs nonsense Ah there is Kiros now," "Master Ekram, I like to meet my friend Dr. Praaghi finest physican in the islands!"

Both Jericho and her mother Ai sat in an understood silence as they approached the Palace. The cart slowed to a halt. Ai graciously took the hand offered to her by the gentleman helping her out, giving a soft smile and word of thanks to show her appreciation. Her, Jericho's, mother looked lovely. Her Kimono was both a bit brighter- cherry reds and sunset hues- and less elaborate than Jericho's. Ai's was a power to command respect without the flamboyant disguise of dress. She was well bred, well read, and every bit as prominent as the other women that were sure to be in the manor.
Jericho, on the other hand, refuted the help offered to her by simple choosing not to acknowledged that she was being offered any help at all. She tilted her chin upward in a slight show of dominance, her already catty eyes thinning to make her look dangerous as if she were about to strike, but she held her tongue for now. There was no use, or point, to lash out now, not when they were so close.
Since the Xanine women had no male escorts, Jericho's father still being off in battle and Jericho herself being unwed, they were escorted into the palace by the diminutive man who had helped them out of the carriage. Though he was obviously beneath their status him and Ai made pleasant conversation, discussing the reason for the party, the young man it was being thrown for, and other polite pleasantries. Jericho's facial features stood steadfast, placid. She showed nothing, her lips straight and her forehead smooth, the only hint to her discontent were the fire burning beneath her amber eyes.
The moment both women entered the hall they were bombarded by sound. It was just like every other faceless party but when compared to the silence of the air surrounding the estate, the noise was crushing. At least to Jericho it was, Ai gave no hint that she was shaken by the impact. Everything was amazingly routine after that, Ai mingled courteously until she could set her sights upon the guest of honor to congratulate him in whatever, or mention how lovely the evening was going. Jericho silently scanned the crowd with her contemptuous gaze for anyone she may be interested in speaking with, any of her friends or, even better, her faux friends. The catty, annoying, giggling, nitwits who are perfect targets to get her frustrations out. A small smirk twitched on the corners of her red lips. Maybe this evening wouldn't be a complete waste after all.
