Yes indeed. Collasping Jin.. with a twitching problem. Jialing groaned softly.. rolling her eyes at Ting. This was one reason why she left the farm.. farm work. Now.. she was stuck doing farmwork with the mother of her intended. Jialing's head dropped and she shrugged her shoulders.. "Sure, why not?" She then sighed and lifted a hand to her forehead, running her hands through her bangs. Oi Vey... Jialing gave Reed and Kai a helpless look, turned on her heels and shuffled out. Jialing.. HATED farm work. Stepping off the porch that surrounded the house, Jialing dumped her quiver and bow on the ground, leaning them against a rock.

Kai, Reed and Hoto layed eyes upon ther job. Reed walked over to the water pump. "I'll get the water flowing you guys can making some tunnels then we can get started on diggin' the water ways." Kai nodded and Hoto sulluted. The two got ready, feet spead out, hands steady. Kai jumped up and swung his hands as he landed making the land in front on him push back and gather at the back. Hoto did his a little diffferently. He stood in the middle of the little lane and pulled and pushed his hands in and out by his side. THen with on last push the dirt went flying to diferent sides. The two kept this up as Reed dug a small path to lead the water to the cannals. Reed once again started to pump the water. The water started to flow out faster and faster. The water made its way out of the small channel Reed had made to the other other ones Hoto and Kai made.Reed looked upon the newly canalled planting area,"Nice job, Guys."
Minge walked out side with to baskets handing one of them to Jialing. "The chicken coop is just over here," Minge said leading Jialing to the entrance of the small barn like estabblishment opening the door, "So how did you meet Reed?" The old woman inquired.

Jialing took a basket with negative enthusiasim, sighing heavily like an angsty teen as she tucked it under one arm. Her head dropped forward as she followed the elder woman. Stupid chickens.. and their evil egg laying ways. Evil eggs. Jialing HATED eggs.. except when they were accompanied by cheese.. and a LOT of spices.
She lifted her brows at Minge's question, having.. not really paid attention. "Er.. um.. Kinda.. actually ran into him.." Literally. Jialing rolled her eyes..sighed again. "He offered me a job working with him. I could use the money.." Haven't gotten paid yet.. instead drug halfway to the fire nation and back.

Minge sighed, “ That’s my little boy.” She said shaking her head, “ I will be sure that Reed pays you for all that you have worked for,” Minge said as she walked over to where the chickens layed there eggs. There were about 9 to a dozen chickens most of them on their little laying things, laying their little eggs. But these laying coop things were different from most. Every time a chicken would lay an egg, the egg would sink through about 4 layers of straw and softly land in a woven bowl shaped container underneath. So all you really had to do was switch that basket container with the other basket for a few minutes while you take the eggs to the kitchen then come back and switch ‘em. Minge unclipped the metal clips that were holding on the egg container, with one hand under it, she took the other basket and clipped it in, “ Ting made this for me to help me out,” She lightly chuckled, “ Quite a strange contraption don’t you think?”

"Wow.. that is impressive." For once, Jialing didn't sound boredly amused but actually impressed. The contraption for retriving eggs didn't even involved disturbing the hens, whom Jialing always remeber as being fiesty and angry when disturbed at her farm. She chuckled softly.. "at least they don't try to peck your eyes out like they did in Lochan." Jialing knelt down and pulled a basket full of eggs out, replacing it with an empty basket. She then stood, her knees cracking and she passed the basket off to Minge. Jin sat beside her, on his best behavior despite the numerous tasty chickens that squawked about. He sighed tiredly, looking up at Jia as she stepped over and snagged another full basket of eggs. "My mother's chickens were mean, hateful creatures.."

Minge smiled as Jialing handed her the basket, " Ting is quite the inventor. She thinks after selling her products we will all 'live like kings'," Minge quoted.
" You live in Lochan? I've heard the scenery is beautiful," Minge stated. " I think that's enough eggs for few days. Besides the rest are hardly full at all," Minge said her arms arpuund the baskets. " I should get started with breakfast," Minge slightly chuckled, " I'm sure it will be an adventure watching Ting trying to cook again. The girl is stubborn."
Minge started to lead the way out of the chicken coop. It was good to be out in fresh air after being surrrounded by the smell of chickens. The boys were still in the yard looking over their work like old times. MIge sighed as she continued to the house. At least they were having eggs for breakfast.

"...I guess..?" Jialing muttered, shrugging her shoulders in response to the question about Lochan's scenery. To her.. the rolling green hills and spotted forests had been the best playground ever. Lochan itself was located within a valley, overlooking the river from the valley's rim and edge where the fields of rice and other farming crops were. The river flooded every spring, leaving behind a rich soil which allowed the village to farm as well as it did. Unfortuantly, the farmable soil was few, thus, the village never farmed much beyond what it needed to sustain itself.
Jialing's mind skyrocketed itself back to reality, her head shaking to clear away the clouds. Her dark brown eyes flickered up to glance up at Minge through her wildy and frizzy hair, which was quiet ironic considering that Jialing was tall for most women.. Jialing followed her obdiently, listen to her.. her mind rolling back to her discovery earlier. Well that was a secret she'd take her grave.. she had found her intended..yuck.

The boys were done with there ‘to do’ –ness Reed beckoned the guys to follow them as he met up with Jialing and his Mother in the kitchen. Of course their work was a lot easier with two earth benders, but that wasn’t the point. Ting had started to set up the necessities for breakfast like cleaning and setting the table, lighting the fire under the stove, right underneath the cooking part, with flint stones, and burning her self in the process. The girl never did learn, and when she did, it really didn’t matter to her. She was an odd duck. Ting reached over to the pots and set one on the cooking area over the fire. “Ok, who wants their eggs poached, fried or scrambled?” Ting asked looking to the small party. All the boys answered at once, “Scrambled.” Ting sighed, “You guys are so bland! And I can’t believe you still want to eat, Kai,” Ting paused and looked to Minge, “ Auntie Minge? Do you want something different for a change?? Maybe. . . . ramen or something?” Ting stated holding up a bag of noodles. “Jialing, how ‘bout you? Their rameny..” Ting said extending the last syllable of the word.

Jialing looked uneasy to the eggs, and cringed mentally. Eggs were never her thing. They didn't sit well with her either.. the idea of eating eggs creeped her out. Sure she ate them as a kid, but that was before she knew what eggs were. Jialing forced a smile at Ting. "Yeah sure..! I'd love some ramen. I haven't had ramen in forever. Ramen is so good... and.. Rameny!" The cheerful tone in her voice.. was transparently fake. "Heh.. heh.." Jialing quickly beat a hastly retreat and sat at the kitchen table, with a perfect posture. She linked her hands infront of her, actually twiddling her thumbs. She really had no idea of what she could do.. or was suppose to say.. her eyes darting back and forth between faces. She still couldn't believe it..

Reed recoiled into his chair at Jialing’s happy-go-lucky-ness. I think I liked the smug Jialing better. . . . . Reed thought. Ting brought her fist in to the air, “Finally! Some one who actually wants to have a little change! Reed, I’d like to see more of her,” She pointed to Jialing, “And less of him,” She finished pointing to Kai. Kai ran his hand through his hair, “Not gonna happen, shorty.” Ting cringed, “I am not a shorty!” She said running up to his side, Kai standing up. Ting was only to his collar bone, even on her toes. “Hmph…” Ting concluded making her way to the stove and preparing the eggs and ramen. Ting chopped the vegetables, added pork and miso. Once she was done she poured the ramen into the bowl and placed in front of Jialing with a pair of chop sticks. “Tell me how it is, Kay?” Ting asked to Jialing before serving the others their eggs.

"Trust me, Ting, you are a shorty." Jialing would counter at the girl, throwing a sideways glance at Kai, her lips curling into a grin as she chuckled softly. Jialing grasped a pair of the wooden chopsticks, laid to the side of her shallow bowl and carefully wound the ramen noodles around them as others began to sit down and dive into their eggs. Jialing stared at the noodles for a moment, she really didn't feel like Ramen either.. Oh spirits it was too early in the morning for anything! She blew gently on the noodles before slurping them off the chopsticks. She recoiled, they were still hot! and curled a hand under her chin. After a moment of fanning her mouth, Jialing smiled and laughed softly.. "Actually, Ting.. they are really good."

Ting frowned at Jialing's agreement with Kai. Kai nudged her with his elbow, you'll grow a few inches before you start shrinking again. Don't worry," Kai said sarting to eat. Ting went bck to the stove and started to pour her self a bowl wearing huge oven mits. There's no way she was going to get burnt again . . . . . Right? "I'm be right back kids. I'm going to go get some fresh air." Minge started as she walked out the door," Oh and Don't forget to was the pot, Ting," Minge called back into the house. "Already takin' care of." Ting said setting her ramen on the table and pulling up a seat. Ting slurped up some noodles. She wanted to get to them when they were still hot. She thought they were gross when they were cold, especialy when the soup was cool. Yuck! Ting perked up when Jialing said they were good. "Really!?" Ting said swollowing some soup. "Do you really like it!? .... . .Or . . Are you just saying that to be nice?" Kai responded before anyone, " She's probably gonna dump it out." Ting's forehead flopped against the table, " It can't be that bad.." She said muffled against the table.

"No no.. it's really good, Ting.. I'm serious." Jialing's voice dropped to a sinsister level as she stared at Kei, sneering as if threatening him to say that again. She finished her ramen before the others had even finished breakfast, never one to stay in one place and sit. She stood, excusing herself from the table. As she left the kitchen, she tapped her thigh, calling for Jin who was seated at Kei's side.. whining for scraps. The poor pup turned and glanced at Jialing, then back at Kei's plate.. and back at Jialing.. and back at Kei's plate. He gave up and followed the young women outside.
She lowered herself onto the porch, leaning against one of the support beams with a sigh. Pulling a knee to her chest, she slung her arms over and threw her head back. As nice as Reed's family was.. Jialing didn't want to really stay much longer. She was too used to moving around constantly.. and this reminded her too much of Lochan.
Lochan. She wondered if the mysterious Aunt would recognize her, or her name..

Reed finished his breakfast slowly. Jialing had left andTing had chased Kei outside and continued to chase after him with a wooden spoon as he easily swerved out of the way. "Mum. . . . . When...is dad's... Funirul. . . ?" Reed could barley get to words from his mind out his mouth. The, no longer young, woman closed her eyes looking as if holding back tears. " Tomorrow at sun-set.. . . . . .Your relatives should be here between tonight and tomorrow morning." Reed stood up and held his mother in his arms. A few moments later she broke the embrace and looked towards the fields. She could picture her husband walking back from it. " Go on and finish the farm work. . ." Reed nodded and walked out side towards the barn.

The sun was beginning to set, casting a fiery glow over the fields. Jialing sat on the porch of the farmhouse, leaning against a post with Jin lying below her in the grass. Her hands twisting and knotting a dirty old rope, the same she had held earlier on Kai's ship. She wrapped her fingers around it, then wrapped it around her fingers, keeping her hands busy while her mind sunk into idle thoughts. Poor Reed.. his father dead.. She had watched the men work out in the fields and around the farm, hanging mostly with Ting around the house as the little girl did her chores. Jialing had promised to let Ting have a go with her bow and arrow sometime after the funeral.. both girls would sneak off to the far field where Ting could show Jia a thing or two. The young woman's dirty face grimace, yeah.. no twelve year old was suppose to be better with a bow than her. That just wasn't fair.
