Dan-dan smiled warmly at Kulap. He was amused at her display of gymnastics and couldn't help but think she looked like a roosting possum-chicken, hanging upside-down from the tree branch. He also couldn't find a bit of coincidence that she'd faced the same kind of question he had earlier that day.
"Well, I'm always up fer spendin' some time with ya," he replied after she was done. Dan-dan stood up and swatted and Kulap's hanging braid playfully, setting it into a rythmic swing. "And I wouldn't give to much mind to what the other girls think... It'll happen when it happens, and it ain't none o' there business anyhow." He gave another encouraging smile and reached up to brush her cheek.
"But I gotta another hour or so 'fore we head back out to catch some crawfish-snails," he said. "Maybe we can find somethin' fun to do til then."

Kulap blushed shyly. She wasn't a very affectionate woman, kisses on the cheek occisonally and hugs in private, but she was still getting use to being a wife.
"Thanks Dan-Dan, I know yew mean well" She gently took his hand and held it. "Hmmm I wunder whut we could do? You like swimmin'? We can always do that." She leaned in and swung his hand playfully. "I dunno, we could just take a walk together. Honestly Dan-Dan I don't care whut we do.." She sighed and dropped his hand before sitting down, "I'm just sick of the routine, I want somethin' more, sumthin' that isn't so....bland. I know you have alot to do, but I don't. I guess thats why I suggested we can cause some mischief." She slumped and pouted her lips and smiled sadly. "I guess I'm kinda pathetic that way.." She got up and took the left over food and wrapped it up, she kissed Dan-Dan briefly on the cheek.
"I'll be waitin' at the river near our house, We can go swimmin' there." And with that she went off.

Watching Kulap talk was always something that kept the simple Dan-dan interested. His shamn wife had a habit of saying quite a bit, quite fast. Dan-dan occasionally got the impression that she was simply speaking out loud her entire thought process and wondered if she even realized she was making sounds. However, he hardly found it annoying and throughout her whole series of suggestions, observations, and eventual decision he wore a smile plastered onto his face. He didn't even need to be an enlightened Shaman to read her mind... He just had to listen.
As Kulap came to the decision that they would pass the time by swimming, Dan-dan could only manage to smile and nod before she gave him a peck on the cheek and started off toward their tree-house. He watched her go for several seconds, letting his brain fully digest her miniature rant while his eyes occuppied the time by following the curves of her figure. But eventually he decided he shouldn't keep her waiting and climbed to his feet. He brushed some of the dirt off the set of his loin cloth, picked up his oar which was resting against the tree trunk, and started toward their house.

Kulap smiled softly as she walked over to wear the house was situated. The tree house was built into a rather large willowly tree over looking river that was conserabily deep that fed into a pool that was use for bathing, she climbed up the house with Butchie was waiting. She pat his head and sat up on the balconly ledge over looking the river. She smiled broadly and lept off the edge.
"WHOOOO HOOO!" She dove head first getting good soaking as she did. Butchie quickly followed chasing after his human companion. "Graahh!" He called after her as swam around her. Kulap got on top of her familar and rode on top as she looked around for Dan-Dan. "Ooh were is he. I wanna dunk him." Butchie growled in affermation. She jumped off of his and dove through the clear water and then floated on her back. Married life was complicated. She just hoped that it got eaiser.

Past the huts of the the rest of the tribe, Dan-dan could see the tree-house he and Kulap shared. He even smiled as he saw her jumping into the water with a whoop of glee. It looked like she was starting the fun without him, so he picked up his pace a little bit and arrived shortly at the edge of the water. Kulap was floating lazily in the water, staring up at opening in the canopy of the Swamp.
Dan-dan shifted his grip on the oar in his hands as he watched Kulap floating and a mischievious grin tugged at the corners of his mouth. She didn't seem to have noticed him just yet, and her previous suggestion of stirring up trouble was still fresh in his mind. He stepped forward with one foot, lowering the front of his oar close to the ground. Lining up thepaddle with Kulap, he pushed down with his back hand and yanked up the front. In response, the water in front of him stirred and rose up several feet, starting a wave about a dozen feet wide that started rolling toward Kulap. Dan-dan watched with amusement as the wave swiftly advanced on the floating shaman and lifted her several feet up in the water before dropping her back down.

Kulap floated hear hair was unbraided and floating around her like some form of seaweed. Her eyes were half closed and dream-like, when felt something rise her up and then suddenly...
"AHHHHHH DAAAAAAN!" SPLASH! Kulap fell sinking into the deep water. She waded to the shallow end of the river and glowered at Dan. "Yew idiot! Yew scared me sh*itless!" Her hair was mopped over her face and in a tangled mess, her loincloth clung to her legs, highlighting her smooth thighs and curvy legs. She moved her arms akimbo and stared at Dan-Dan, with a dark frown before pausing and glaring, and then suddenly she broke into series of quick giggles, and then a belly laugh.
"Whewwww that wus good 'un though. I hafta adimt that. Hee hee, Yew know that!" She ran up took Dan-Dan arm and tried to pull him in the water. "Yer Goin' in Dan!"

Dan-dan was laughing too hard to notice Kulap's outrage, and by the time he managed to wipe the tears from his eyes, she was alread wading her way towards him. "Sorry!" he began, "But yer little speech on stirrin' up trouble got my mind workin' that way..." His soaking wife stepped up to the bank of the stream and reached out to pull him into the water. Still smiling broadly, he tossed his oar aside and allowed himself to be dragged in. At 6'1" and with a 50 lb weight advantage he could have probably just stood his ground, but he was enjoying himself and figured that Kulap deserved a little retribution.
He gave up a token resistance as the shaman pulled him into waist-deep water, but then found a spot to plant his feet and he pulled Kulap close to him. He wrapped her in a tight, but not crushing, hug, that stopped her from pulling him any further into the stream. "Were you thinkin' to push me under?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Kulap laughing as she drags her husband in to the river just before he grabbed her by the waist and held her close. Her cheeks flushed being presses close to him both of them bare chested.
"Were you thinkin' to push me under?" He asked, Kulap made a cute squeek and said in small voice
"Maybe..." She looked at him and blushed a little deeper. He was warm, and chest a was quite smooth...no hair not yet. She kinda like being held like this.
"Yer kinda warm...but woudja let me go? Yer makin' me blush something awful." She wriggle free and swam to the other side and sunk a bit to hide her red face. "Darn you Dan-Dan fer makin' me all hot and bothered." She blew bubbles before completely sinking under feeling annoyed and hot. She swam and snuck up behind Dan-Dan to grab him from behind. "Got yew!"

Dan-dan had been somewhat amused by Kulap's reaction to their simple embrace. That isn't to say that holding her close like that while she was shirtless hadn't stirred any feelings within him, but it was far from the fierce blushing that it caused in her. He let her go when she attempted to wriggle free, and waded a bit deeper into the water himself.
Casting a few looks toward Kulap while she sank down to her eyes in the water, he responded to her by calling out, "I can't help it if ya find me irresistable." He then turned his focus toward the water around him and used his bending to guide a stream of water out of the surface and swirl it around himself. He wrapped it around himself like a blanket, enjoying the cool water on the muggy swamp day.
He'd barely been aware of Kulap's actions for those several seconds and he startled slightly when she grabbed him from behind. Dan-dan let the water drop from his control and craned his neck around to look at her. "Yeah, ya got me," he observed, smirking, "but now whatcha gonna do?"

Kulap climbed up on Dan-Dan wrapping her legs around his waist and arms around his neck. Her lips where resting by Dan-Dan right ear. "Hmmm I dunno I guess I could hang around here" She pressed against him before springing off and going back in the water.
After while of swiming and getting use to the coolness of the water. Kulap relized that Dan-Dan should be getting back to work. And so should she. She pouted and sighed.
"Dan-Dan, I think it's time fer us to git back to work. I have salves and tinicures to make and people to see. Yew have fish to catch. Speaking of which I'll make something with that Hogmonkey haunch that Butchie caught yesterday. I nice spice rub will work wonders." She swam over and looked up at Dan-Dan. "It wus nice to go swimmin' with me. I really like it." She blushed as she pressed her lip agaist Dan-Dan's before wading out and drying off.

It had been a fun enough retreat, swimming with Kulap. It was also one of the rare times they spent quality time together during the day. Dan-dan couldn't help but reflect with astonishment that only a month or two ago she had made every effort to ignore him completely whenever they were forced into proximity. But as he dried himself off, bending the water off his body and clothes, and kissed her good-bye he was glad she'd seen fit to change her mind about their marriage.
Dan-dan headed back toward the wharf with a smile on his face and his oar oer one shoulder. He arrived to see several of the boats already drifting in the small pond and noticed that Jugo was almost ready to cast off from the felled tree that served as their pier.
"Running late again?" he called out, tossing Dan-dan a grin, "Ya just can't keep away from yer woman for a minute, can ya?" Da-nda returned the grin with a smirk of his own as he hopped into the boat and pushed the craft into motion with a sweep of his oar.
"Or the other way around," he said with wink, prompting Jugo to laugh in amusement. The two set off after the rest of the boatman to set out the cages under the water and mark them with boueys.

Kulap smiled as she sauntered back up stairs to the hut. Her brown eyes sparkled with joy as she let her earthly hair stay loose at her back, as she walked into the tree house. She had a hogmonkey haunch ready for roasting tonight along with swamp apples and potatoes. She cut the potatoes up and the apples and took some herbs from the kitchen and began making a rub to put on the hogmonkey for dinner. Butchie growled as he chewed on his bone. The shaman rubbed bay leaves, tyme, garlic, pepper, lemongrass, and spice-weed on the hogmonkey before stoking the fire. “Now I wonder where I put that cider. I think me and Dan-Dan should enjoy some cider with dinner.” Butchie rumbled in agreement. Kulap looked in cupboard for the keg she saved from her apprentice days with Mulkat. When a knock rumbled on the door, “Comin’ Baijeong! Door is open.” The lankier of Kulap’s friend walked in with a chubby toddler on her hip. It was her daughter, Ranka. “Kuuuulaaap! Hey there, yew got any of that talcum powder? Ranka has rash on her rear…and I wus wonderin’ if yew got any left over.” Kulap took a pouch and handed it to Baijeong. Who squealed with joy. “Ahhhh! Thankies Kulap! Eh? Are you makin’ dinner for Dan-Dan?” Kulap nodded as she put the hogmonkey on the spit. Baijeong smiled something wicked and whispered into Kulap’s ear. Kulap stood up and told Baijeong to leave or her hut or she’ll put a hex on Kinah. Baijeong dropped few silvers in her basket by the window and bolted quick giggling. Kulap sat out the mugs for cider and plates for the meat mumbling about Baijeong. “I’m not gonna put an aphrodisiac in the cider.” She grumbled as she sat and waited for Dan-Dan.

The fishermen made a full circuit around the village's local waterways and ponds. After starting at one end and laying down a few cages lined with bait to attract the tiny crustaceans that littered the bottom of the swamp, they went in a half-circle around the radius of the village and layed down a half-dozen more.
By the time they deposited the last trap, about a half hour had passed and they looped around back to the beggining to retrieve the cages. Another half-hour passed and the men returned to the village with a good-sized catch Dan-dan and Jugo tied off their boat. Together they carried a cage full of crawfish-snails toward a low hut near the center of the village. They stepped inside with the other fisherman close behind and dumped the crawhish-snails into a trough of water. The rest of the men followed suit, and once the last of their catch was in the water, Dan-dan and Du breathed an icy mist over the trough and frozen the water solid.
"Good haul," Tho said to the rest of the men as they all left the hut. "See ya later."
The men dispersed and Dan-dan waved Jugo and the others good-bye as he started for the tree-house. The sun was starting to descend but there were still several hours of good daylight remaining.

The Shaman began to make the bread for dinner. She took the flour from the pot near window and fresh possum-chicken eggs and water and began to make the slurry batter stirring as she check to make sure the meat was cooking. Butchie, sniffed the batter as Kulap added the yeast and began kneading it.
“’Ere we go, in out, in out.” She kneaded the bread into small loaves and put them in the oven to back. Kulap was beat, it has been a busy day. Dull, but busy. She smiled at the thought of Dan-Dan and her swimming that afternoon. She laughed as she sipped the cider. She turned over the darkening meat and the potatoes. She toss a burned one to Butchie and went to get his dinner. She took out a liver of a possum-chicken and gave it to her familiar, who devoured it with delight. Kulap looked at the sun setting and sipped her cider as she saw a figure coming to the house.
“Dan-Dan! It’s supper time!”

Dan-dan climbed up the winding ramp to the tree-house, whistling the tune of the Swamp folk song 'Caught ten fish by the riverbed' as he ascended up to the house's front landing. He heard Kulap calling him to come eat and a smile spread across his face. "Comin'!" he called back, stepping through the hanging curtain that covered the upper half of the doorway and catching a whiff of the cooking meat. "Smells great," he said, tossing a grin to his wife before heading towards the near corner to deposit his oar and hat.
The fisherman then moved across the room, picking a pair of clay cups off a shelf and gathering two drinks of fresh water. He took a seat beside her around the clay oven in the center of the room. A warm fire burned at its base while their dinner cooked on the ayer above. It smelled delicious and Dan-dan could already feel his mouth watering.
"Anything else happen after I went back to fishin'?" he asked Kulap, starting up a little dinner conversation.
