Lin sat on a hollow log lying still in the woods, pricking the last of the splinters from her clothing. She picked now at the ones stick in her hands, oftenly having to refer to her teeth to pull them out. As she tried to pry the splinters out of her hands, a large beetle had crawled up her arm. Once Lin saw it coming up her forearm, she immediately shook it away. She went back to taking out the splinters.
But after a minute or two, another bug went up her other arm. She shook it off. Then another minute later there were two bugs up her arm. Soon, they began to multiply in numbers and were all over Lin. She felt their little legs tickling at her skin, which made shivers travel down her spine. She immediately screeched and tried to sweep them off of herself.
Damn bugs, she thought. She checked her arms, legs and back to make sure there weren't any more of them on her, and then she looked down at her feet. She saw them crawling by her feet, and she screamed again. She clawed her way up a tree that was only twice her size and sat on a sturdy branch. She looked below her at the mingle of the bugs crawling all over the ground. It disgusted her, seeing them climb over each other and make that creepy insect noise. She shivered, holding tightly onto the branch.
Great. Stuck like a cat in a tree. Literally.

Lin sighed, sitting on the branch and staring down at the insects. She let her legs swing and hang over them, letting time slip by. She didn't exactly know why those bugs were there, and she didn't know why there were so many of them. That was her consequence of being so naive about the world around her.
She looked up beyond the leaves that broke the sun's light into shattered shadows. She saw the clear blue sky, watching the soft clouds slowly drift by.
Should she go home?
Lin turned back to the ground. How did that thought come into her head? Then she thought it over again.
She left the North Pole and traveled far down south mainly on her own. Sure, some help every now and then from a few people she'll run into, but she still wondered how she made it down here.
But why was she down here?
It hit her like a speeding arrow killing its target. She had forgotten her purpose for being in the Earth Kingdom. Out in the open. Away from home. She didn't have any inner voices anymore to tell her what to do. She had immaturely forgotten what they have told her before after all that she's been through. But was she even ready to go home? Could she even go back the way she came? She curled up her legs and hugged them to her chest, leaning against thr trunk of the tree.
She wanted go to home.
