It was a cold wintry day in Lun Yang, but that would never stop Harutomo from getting his job done. He had woken up to a slow morning, but out on the streets on Lun Yang, that would all change now. He was the ruler of the streets, in his district. No other performer could even make a living when he performed within a five street radius. As Haru felt the excitement build up inside of him, he sprinted the rest of the way to where he normally did his performing, to see a very rare sight.
Standing in a circle where Harutomo normally performed were six small Fire Nation children. They had shivering frowns on their faces, and they were dirty. Immediately, Harutomo pressed himself to go even faster so that he could find out what was going on. As the sound of his footsteps echoed in the street, it seemed like Harutomo was going way too slow, and he noticed everything in fine detail for a moment, then a searing pain lashed across his back and he doubled over, gasping for breath. Harutomo fell the the ground, and looked up into the eyes of a bald, brown eyed, thug clothed in tan tatters of a once silken shirt. Harutomo grimaced as his eyes watered in pain, and he looked to the children and whispered hoarsely, "Run!"

Xin walked along the streets and yet paused when some commotion was kicked up, what ever had been happening was drawing the attention of the crowd. Previously her mind had been on finding a present for her youngest brother, something that would meet his fancy and yet as soon as the yelling was heard it vanished like a fleeting bird. Hurrying from the scene of a hunter ready to snatch it up for dinner. Her brown eyes cast over the crowd of people forming and her pale lips parted letting out a small gasp of surprise. The fact was, the fire nation capital held the upper class and many nobles, at the same time there was a lower layer of citizens, one that usually went ignored untill things like this happened
The sky was brightening over the red and black of the styled houses, made of wood and metal of all sorts, trying to show off the splendor of the fire nation though no one ever came in from other lands.

As Haru pulled himself off of the ground, he watched the crowd grow around him and his enemy. The raging man looked angry, but Haru had never seen that ugly man in his entire life. It was odd, because clearly, with a whip in his hand, the other man wanted to hurt him really bad. As the man approached, Haru opened his mouth to speak, but he was silenced by the crack of the whip as it snapped dangerously close to Haru's arm. The man snarled, and continued to approach.
It was then that Haru decided that it was time to fight back. This man was a pest, and therefore needed to be exterminated from the populace. As Haru thought of what to do first, his thoughts were interupted by an angel. She had probably been walking by the shops, and obviously belonged to royalty, by Haru's judgement of beauty alone. He stood there awestruck, until he was awakened by searing pain again. The whip had tore his skin on his arm, and now the man had a hold on Haru's left arm. By the strain on the whip, Haru could tell this man was stronger then him, so he only had a few choices. Taking action so as to get rid of this man, Haru sprinted towards him and jumped in front of him, pushing his foot out to kick the man in the face. Unfortunately, the man had pulled the whip forward as Haru had jumped, sending him flying past the man and into the crowd. He looked up to see the beautiful girl once again, and smiled, but the angry man pulled him back and kicked Haru in the ribs. Haru gasped for air as he struggled to stand again.

Xin paniced placing a manicured hand over her unpainted lips as the crowd surged back nearly bringing her away with them. Consern floating in her brown eyes she watched the man was beaten, the fight was barely fair, and no one was stepping in to help him. Her chest rose and fell rapidly feeling the burn of betrayal in her own people. The pain emmiting from her chest was too much. Those who would stand by and do nothing but watch order fall from the world, it wasn't just this, the war as well. The firenation only wanted to destroy, they wiped out the air nomads and were driving the water tribes and the earth kingdom to exstinction.
Moving foreward Xin extended her palehand creating a wall of fire between the two. With a scarlet blush on her face, and the fire reflecting off her eyes and body, she felt a wave of uneasiness wash over her from the energy it took she felt her heart waiver. Woman like her, even if they could bend, were not trained in it. Her fire bending was saved for her own amusement, never battle
"how dare you defile our streets with such filth, have you no pride for our nation?" Her voice remained strong though it wavered a bit, she was scared. Only being a girl invading into a mans affair was dangerous. Her black hair was loose over her shoulders and in her face, eyes large and doe like tried their best to remain spitefull and intimidating though the guise was shallow. Had her parents known about this surely she would be in trouble.

Haru pulled himself up off of the ground as the wall of flame rose from the street. Haru grinned. This woman was a fire bender. He dared not set eyes upon her for fear of losing concentration again. With the skill of over a thousand hours of practice, Haru quickly reached into his shirt and revealed a small rocket. He lit the fuse from the flames, and pointed it skyward. It flew up, and everyone rose their heads to watch it. Then, it exploded in an extravagant pattern.
Just as it was exploding, Haru produced another peculiar item from his shirt pockets. He had a smoke bomb. He hurled it onto the ground and by the time it exploded, he was a already running towards the lady who had provided him this chance. Once in front of her, he picked her up as gentle as possible, and carried her fireman style. And then, he ran as fast as he could, to his home. Once there, he skidded above the steps and slammed the door behind him. Then, his face burned as he realized what he had done. He set the lady down, and lowered his gaze.
He had to say something. She was so beautiful, so graceful, and so....good. Haru had seen many women who had gathered to watch him, but this one took his breath away, and made fires burn in his cheeks. He had to find something to say!
".......You...okay?" Was all he could mutter. He felt so strongly, but could say nothing! He felt like a plant, who's ambitions and goals and ideas were all gathered and put into the color of the blossoms. The blossoms in Haru's case being his cheeks.

Xin blushed letting all her emotions have free roam of her face, to carry a lady as such was well, unspeakable. Rationalizing she knew he ment nothing by it, she was in no danger and yet now she felt so tired from the whole experiance. Her brown eyes gazed at the floor as her mind let it's self calm down. A delicate hand touched her breast as to make sure she was still in one peice, by agni's grace today was turning into such chaos as she had never before experianced. Hands quickly running over her skirt smoothed it untill it was once more acceptable. Finally as the world peiced it's self back together she let her eyes wander up to the man who'd wisked her off, with a soft and controlled gaze. " I am . . . fine, but you're the one who I'd be conserned about . . . are you alright . . .?"
It was no lie that he didn't look the best at the momment. Places where he had been hit were roughed up, either from physical blow or the result of the impact from them. Her fire seemed to have done little damage but she never ment for it to. Had someone been hurt she'd have a hard time dealing with it. Her black hair was more mussed then ever, strands falling delicatly around her face with a slightl curl to them from moisture in the air and heat.

"......"
"......"
An awkward silence followed Xin's concern over Haru, as he wondered what to answer. He knew it hurt like a mother, but her concern numbed the pain, and he finally answered with a slight stutter.
"I'm fine."
Thats all Harutomo had to say. His strong points were not being social or even talking to people. He barely even spoke durig his daily routine. He decided, while looking at the woman in his house, that he should probably pack up. Someone in Lun Yang wanted him dead, and even Haru didn't know why, he didn't intend to stick around. He could already hear commontion outside of his house, so he rushed for his pack, and grabbed some of his mother's jewelry. Then, he stopped in front of the door. He looked at the woman and summoned all of his courage.
"What is your name?"
It wasn't the best thing he had to say, and it wasn't really what Haru had planned on saying, either, seeing as he had to either get this girl home safely then leave, or take her with him. It was quite a crisis, but Haru was working his way to that problem.

"should you be moving around so much after that. . .?" Her eyes followed him as he moved about the room laced with confusion and conern. It wasn't like she met people that weren't of her social class often, the differances were obvious and all together a bit shocking, the house was a lot smaller than she thought it would be. Even the fact that she was here was a little disturbing. Though she was never one to speak out about such things, it wasn't bad, just foreign. Taking in the floors and the sparse furniture quickly her brown eyes found him. His question was met with silence for what seemed like a long time but could only have been no more than a few seconds
" Che-Shi' Xin" The girls eyes closed and she ducked her head down into a bow, under normal pretences she wouldn't be allowed to speak to someone like him at all. In all honesty it was her first time being exposed in society like this.
"is something going on. . .?" His actions struck her as odd and almost hesitantly she left her place in the room and moved closer to him, she didn't have to be aware of the tension to feel it. Was he a crimanal or worse?

Haru ingored Xin's further worry over Haru's wounds. They had stopped bleeding, and haru had to worry, so he had to ingore them for now. Thinking quickly as people outside began to pound upon his sturdy, but old, door.
"I think they are after me. Would you like me to take you home, Xin?" Haru said, his voice wavering as he grimaced in pain.
Not waiting for an answer, he rushed her behind his house to the backdoor, where they would be able to exit safely without the mob knowing of their route. He opened the door, and as the old hinges squeaked, he looked to her for her answer. Worry was spread across Haru's face, because he knew that he would never live it down if anything happened to the beautiful girl. She was caring, pretty, and probably had a loving family that would miss her, too. He just had to make sure she made it.

" don't concern yourself over me . . . they are after you so run." She blushed her brown eyes wavering while her mind let itself wrap around this newest problem. A soft sigh came from her lips and looked down following him quietly, her slipped making hardly a sound ageinst the floor. Pressumably once she got to a street no one would question her involvement in a fight, or even that was herself was a firebender. Being a lady would give her immunity and sympathy, men had everything so hard it seemed, she was of the high class after all. Placing a hand on his cheek she tenderly brought his face towards her. Leaning foreward her lips presses to the side of face. Gently her eyes closed allowing them to touch for a few momments. What drove her to do this, she herself had no idea, it seemed to be the proper thing to do.
Pulling back she cast her eyes downward a small blush tinting her pale skin a rosey hue. " do what you must to get out of here, we are no more than passing strangers, I'm in no danger"

As their lips made contact, Haru's eyes widened and he brought his hands behind Xin's slender body. Then, he leaned in, sweeping her off her feet for a deep, meaningful kiss. Haru's first kiss, actually. After a few seconds of bliss, Haru set Xin back down, and dashed out through the door. The air felt good on his burning face that was probably a deep shade of red by now. And, as he was about to round a corner and dissapear from her sight, Haru turned to Xin, and nodded with a bright smile. It was probably the last time they would ever lock eyes, no matter how hard Harutomo intended to return and see her again.
After that was over, Haru ran off down the street. He dashed by pedestrians, keeping out of their way and running along the wall when there was no other choice. When he had reached the gates to outside of the city limits, Haru saw a gang waiting for him. He quickly hid himself behind a nearby cart and made his way past them. With the wind behind him, and nothing but freedom ahead of him, Haru felt pretty good. He set his sights upon the south and dusted himself off. This was going to be a long journey. He planned to head towards Yin Rei, then let things settle down. After that he would retrun to Lun Yang with more money, enough money to propose to Xin. Now that he had her name, he could find her. Haru was determined. Nothing but an entire battalion of soldiers would stop him now.

Xin blinked a few times turning red and placeing her finger tips to her lips, what was supposed to be a kind gesture turned into something else. Her face felt hot standing in the door way as if she was being peered at by thousands of accusing eyes though she was obviously alone. It seemed likely that she'd never see him again, either he'd run or he'd die. The cruel truth of this world ment that future for that man. Why was she thinking about it now? this was a perplexing insident worthy of shame for her family. What would people say about a lady of the courts who was so bold and brash as to give her first kiss to a stranger. Shaking her head she left the doorway an made strides to the street once more, she still had shopping to do, perhaps it would distract her thoughts from these events. Was it cruel of her to think so little of the man. . . Yes it did seen as if this was a topic that her mind would not allow to rest for a time.
