Naru drifted between the burnt ruins, often pausing to look at a once great building and try to imagine what it was once like, before this. Before the Fire Nation. It saddened Naru to think that this is what Omashu and Xiam could have faced. It hurt to think about it like this, like burnt and crumbled ruins. "Come along," Naru's Grandfather snapped not unkindly. Naru was yanked from this dreamlike state that the once great city of Tachi Dai seemed to pull him into.
"Grandpa," Naru said, "is anyone left here, ... in Tachi Dai?" He looked curiously up at his grandfather waiting for the answer.
"There are some..." His grandpa replied still staring straight forward. This lightened Naru's spirits just a little. Feeling a good bit better Naru returned to his normal behavior. Soon, they arrived in what city was left of Tachi Dai. Immediately finding an inn for the night Grandpa Liung said, "Naru, we will meet back here at near sunset, ok?" Naru nodded his head and began to run off into the city to find some enjoyment. "Be careful, and stay in the city!" Liung added, as he turned and entered the inn.
The city markets were full of noise and commotion. There were fruit sellers and traders and an amazing assortment of colors and people. "This may be more fun then I thought," Naru said with a smile as he stared around wide eyed at this amazing sight. Instantly he ran off seeing if he could find something truly interesting to hold his attention. "Amazing," Naru thought, he had never seen so this many people in one place. Though it was true the city was now little more than a big village, and the number of people was not that many, still Naru had never been exposed to this sort of place. After all Narus village was small with maybe 8 other children and their families as well as a few others.
Soon, Naru found himself on the very edge of the market area getting very near the ruins, and out of the city. "I'll be fine," Naru thought confidently, and he rushed out to explore the ruins of Tachi Dai.

A week ago Sekar recived a letter from a friend in the Earth Kingdom. He told him of an epidemic that hit of the outskirts of Bai Seng Sei. On a village that was in control of the Fire Nation. So hearing his plea for help. Sekar took with him a large medicine bag, money, his sabons and various items for a long journey. At first he was reluctant to go, but that "fox" Yuka and the "ox" Motoko pushed him into it. Telling him that the Hut-On-The-Hill would be fine.
Now after week of travling from Hokage to here, Sekar was lost. In the ruins of an old village, Sekar couldn't help but feel that he was in ominous place. Great Phoenix help me...
Sekar tripped over logs and stumbled around the ruins when he saw a boy. "OY! Over here" Maybe he could tell the healer where "here" is.

Naru turned to see a man in healers robes. He waked up to him, revealing he had black hair and gold eyes.He must be fire nation Naru thought. It was obvious, in a way, that the man did not quite know where he was because he looked around a few times as if in search of something. Should i tell him where the village is? Wouldn't one less fire nation citizen be an improvement on the world? However Naru's more compassionate side took hold This war isn't his fault he just lost. He looked the man up and down a time or two then said, "I can lead you to the town if you want, it's not that far." With that he looked into the man's gold eyes waiting for a reply.

Sekar sighed. Thank the gods He walked towards the boy and bowed. "Thank you my name is Sekar, Healer of Hokage. I need to get to Ba Seng Sei. I have a friend that desprately need my medicine. Do you know where I can stay for the night?" Sekar eyes had bags under his eye and he looked tired and drawn out.
"Please I need rest and food. I have no place to stay and I'm really lost." Sekar hated begging but he was desprated and tired, he need food, shelter, a bath and needle to the wrist.
Sekar stumble around looking at all the blacken wood and charred earth. Sekar shook is head. "I believe that fire refines and purfies. But seeing this I can't help but feel nothing but hate and sorrow." He looked at boy questionaly "Do you have name child?"

Hes not bad... Naru thought with a slight smile. "Im Naru," He said kindly, "Follow me... I know where to go..." With that Naru began to walk towards the town, weaving between charred wood and scorched marks on the ground. I wonder what Grandpa Liung will think... Naru pondered to himself, after all old Liung was once a skilled soldier of the Earth Kingdom army and might have mixed feelings about Naru helping a citizen of the fire nation. They did not speak to each other during the journey, but rather stayed focus on the destination ahead, and soon arrived at the market area. "Welcome to Tachi Dai," Naru said. He continued to guide the man through noticing as well that the sun was beginning to set. "We must go quickly, my grandfather is expecting me at the inn" He added. The man did not make a sound and they continued...

Sekar saw the small village and smiled. It was quaint, and didn't look as crouded as most villages that he passed though did. Naru lead them to the inn and entered it. A few of the patrons glared at him and shook their heads.
"Doesn't seem that I'm wanted," commented Sekar as he walked up to pay for a room. But the hostess shook her head,
"Rooms are full." She stated simply. Sekar look at the wall and saw dozens of keys. Sekar sighed. "Please, let me have a room tonight?" Pleaded Sekar. But the woman harshly said, "No rooms for your kind!" Sekar sighed. This wasn't the first time it has happened. People are naturally predujest. He sighed again, the exasasuted healer had no choice but to sleep in the woods again. "I'm sorry Naru, but it's obvious that I'm not welcomed here."

Naru frowned and looked at his feet. He hasn't done anything wrong...at least not that I know of... Naru thought. "Who started this war ma'am?" Naru asked, then cut her off, "was it him, has HE done something to you?" Naru said these words accusingly pointing at this man he had met only so recently. The woman stared at Naru grudgingly for what seemed a long time, until finally she loosened up a bit and harshly said as she turned to retrieve a key, "One night...then I swear I'll have you booted out the door..." Naru faced stretched into a large smile, and he grabbed the man's wrist and dragged him along. "You have to meet my grandpa!" Naru beamed, still pulling the man behind him regardless of how the man might feel about a child he just barely met dragging him around. "I'm sure my grandfather would like to meet you...though it may not be for a good reason...on second thought maybe you should go to your room, YES that's what you should do!" Naru laughed a little rubbing the back of his head with one hand and having a large embarrased smile, he waved to the man, "Well bye now!" He continued nervously, and ran around a corner. He leaned against a wall. "Whew, that wouldn't have turned out good!"

Sekar was being pulled along by his new friend. Telling him that he should meet his grandfather. Then he stopped and changed his mind.
"I'm sure my grandfather would like to meet you...though it may not be for a good reason...on second thought maybe you should go to your room, YES that's what you should do!" Said Naru in one breath.
Sekar shook his head. "So be it" The healer head to his room and tossed his luggage on the floor, he pulled out his pipe that Yuka got him a before he left telling him that he need something to ease the weariness of travel. Sekar use to smoke, but he lost his pipe years ago. Now he has a new one and he can smoke again. Though he would prefer his needles. Infact. Sekar lit his pipe and pulled out two of his sabons and stabbed his wrists. "Ahh now to find Naru."

Naru snuck through the halls of the inn. He didn't want grandpa to know he had helped a firebender, at least he assumed the man was a bender since he didn't seem to carry any weapons. Naru peeked around each corner before he made a mad dash down the hallways. He had to make sure the man and his grandpa didn't meet. He was not sure exactly how his grandfather would react to meeting a firebender. Horrific images began to fill his mind, everything from his grandfather squashing the man, to spearing him on rocks or to suffocating the man. No grandpa wouldn't do that, of course not... Naru thought. At that thought he peeked around a corner to see the man coming towards him, Sekar, was that his name? Naru could not quite remember. He turned to start running in the other direction and ran straight into a tall old man. "Naru, where have you been I've been searching for you for almost an hour, you need to return to our room and get some sleep", He said, "we leave tomorrow!" Naru began to feel sick. This is just what he was afraid of. The horrific images in his head returned. Sekar was getting closer, Naru could feel it. "Let's go to our room now, ok?" Naru said nervously and pushed his grandfather down another hall. "Nonsense, our room is that way!" his grandfather replied pointing back the way Naru had come, and he began walking down the hall and around the corner. It was going to happen Naru could feel it in the earth, Sekar and Grandpa Liung walked right into each other.

Sekar was off in his own little world, he felt hard bump. "OOOUFF!" The healer stumble backward.
Sekar looked up to see Naru and his grandfather. Sekar smiled broadly. "Oh! Naru, it's good to see you again. Is this your grandfather?" Sekar bowed letting his needled wrists catch the failing sunlight in windows.
"I'm very grateful for your grandson. He really helped me out. I was lost and he lead me back. Oh! My name is Sekar of Hokage. I'm the local healer there." Sekar stood up. "I'm going to Bai Seng Sei. I have friend that need help. Do you know anyshort cuts?" Sekar notice the neverous look on Naru's face. Oh boy, I was rambling again. He tried to think of a reason why would Naru would be nervous. He glance at his wrists. "Oh? Are worried about me? I study acupuncture so I do this all the time." He chuckled. "It a better stimulant then tea sometime, I tell you." He looked Naru, he still look nervous. "Whats wrong?"

Grandpa Liung seemed to glare at the man at first. Naru just watched horrified waiting to see how his grandpa would react. The images played through his head again and again each one more gruesome then the next. Crushed by rocks, speared on stone spike, suffocated under ground... They played through his head and finally when Sekar stopped talking the old man reacted. "He helped you really!? I never thought Naru would help someone like you....er... because of the obvious differences" Naru stared wide eyed at his grandfather. He wasn't attacking Sekar. In fact he seemed glad to meet him, with a large smile on his face. naru was relieved and wiped the sweat from his brow. "I am Liung, and you have already met Naru, eh...may i ask where did you find him, you said you were lost so may I assume you met outside of the village?" Liung asked.
"Oh, yes in the ruins of the city," Sekar replied. Naru tensed up again and nervously smiled at his grandpa once more.
"Really, that is very interesting," Liung replied giving Naru a strange look, "very interesting since I told Naru not to leave the village! We will see you later Sekar I have a few things to talk about with Naru." With that they returned to their rooms.

Sekar sighed. Well he had to go back to his rooms as well, mainly to leave. He hated being in place where is not welcomed. Naru was a good boy, and his grandfather seemed kind. But Sekar need to find that gaddamn village or have the Phoenix take him.
"Well good night to you, Naru." Said Sekar huffly, tired and wanting to leave immeditatly.
With that, the healer man left for his room. Sekar kept the needles in though so he can have strength. But he quitetly packed his bag and began decended the stairs. He paid no heed to the stares as he left the inn.
The air was cold and brisk, Sekar lit a flame in his hand and move quickly hopefully he can find a road that will lead him to the village, or anywhere close. But for now he tied on a crimson travel cape fletched with raven feathers. And like the tengu he resembles. Sekar fled into the night.

Naru wiped the sweat from his brow and sighed with relief. Though he was still in trouble he was glad that his grandfather hadn't wasted Sekar. Naru and Liung quickly returned to their room.
"I told you to stay in the village," the old man said slowly and sternly, "You could have gotten hurt, we are in a war that sadly is not likely to end anytime soon. I have said enough, good night." Naru's grandfather blew out his lantern. The room grew dark and Naru lay down on his bed. You couldnt really call it much of a bed though, just a slab of rock on the ground. He kicked his boots off and gave his "bed" a forcehul nudge. It softened beneath him and a soft lump bulged out for a pillow. His eyes fluttered, he yawned, and soon he was asleep.
The next morning was a cold one and Naru quickly packed his few posessions into a bag. He flung it over his shoulder and yelled, "C'mon granpa we dont have all day!"
His grandpa chuckled at Naru's eagerness to leave so quickly and replied, "Alright, alright lets go then." Liung walked up to Naru and they both turned toward the woods and continued their journey to Bai Seng Sei.
