Kinue laid back on the hills of outer Ba Sing Sei. The grass was soft and cushioned the curves of her body as she looked up to the clouds. The sun had begun to set and the walled city was glazed over with a warm, orange tint. The sun’s rays felt soothing on her skin, as became upon a more comfortable position. Kin had remembered the stories her mother had told her and the songs she used to sing about the clouds and the skies; Having been just white in the beginning but then being painted by the spirits.
Kin hitched a train ride back to her home. As she pulled a piece of paper stuck in between her door and the wall, she entered the house and walked into her room looking over the flyer. The teen’s eyes scanned the paper as a smile appeared on her face. Finally! It was her turn to travel to the North Pole! Well, that would be if she could find a partner to go with her and her grandmother would sign the registration forms. This happened every year when the kids, who were skilled in their studies and reached a certain age point, could go on a three week trip to go to the Northern Water tribe, or the southern water tribe or , the less famous, Whale Tail Island!
The young lady had changed her clothes and set the paper on her dresser; she would tell her grandmother about it in the morning.
