The sun was just beginning to trace it's downward path in the sky as the lonesome birds called out into the air for their lost brothers. The shadows became elongated in the distance reaching for a goal that seemed to be unatainable. When the colors of the sky began to change a solitary traveler came walking into veiw. Her hand gripped a staff set firmly in her grasp as she walked on her tread path. Soft leather boots padded on the earth below them in a comforting, steady beat. She brought a spare hand up to her face pressing hair away from her tired face. Even though she had been a trained martial artist the hiking had been something new to her. Never before had she needed or wanted to cover such ground in a single day. Life in a single town was no where near as exciting though. The brown haired girl doubted she would ever be able to settle in one place again.
Her hair feel ageinst her back in a braid hevey moving only with rough steps or longer strides. The sections of her hair left over her shoulders shifting with her actions were bound in a soft white cloth stark in contrast to the deep chocolate her hair yeilded. Soft brown eyes which were bright in the morning seemed tired and worn. A city was comming into veiw and if nothing else the high walls did. Her eyes widded slightly as her grip on the weapon became increasingly harsh. "fire nation...? " The map she had stored in the sack at her hip had told her that the approuching city was Omashu. One of the great cities the Earth Kingdom had to offer and set The distinct red colors of the Fire Nation Flew. No other kingdom would dare fly those banners.
As she came closer an emblem of fire was shone in gold stark and harsh to the eyes ageinst the vibrant red. Her heart swelled with distaste and rage. What was going on here? Aside from soldiers and poor looking earth kingdom citizens no one could be seen from the vantage point she had. Her eathy brown baggy pants ruffled and gave soft sound from their shift and movement. The Soldiers watched her with harsh gazes as she approuched. Some of the people looked up with interest, what would happen, would this girl be turned away as well? The weapon in her hand seemed promising and yet at the same time would she be on their side? The green colors of her collar and sash as well as the trim on her shirt showed her nationality and her trust. The yellow of the cloth on her clothing also dictated the house and town she resided in. Only one thing set her apart. A worn wodden necklace. With the symbol of the air nomads. Her prized possesion.
"hault! no one is permitted beyond this point!" A soldier with a black beard glarred at her and stepped foreward. The spear at his shoulder looked dangerous, unsettlingly so.
" I've come a long way and I have a longer way to go I need to resupply" She glarred and began to push past him but solders crossed their weapons in her path barring her from the city.
"drop you're weapon and leave little girl, this isn't a game you know...." The girls face hardened and she slackened her hold on the staff. If there were firebenders she had no chance. In her veiw she counted seven guards. Random assortments of people watching this event would provide no supportment even in her wildest fantasys meaning it was her and seven armor clad men. Fighting groups with intent to harm was another new thing to the brown haired girl.
She scoffed and glanced off. " I guess the rumors about fire benders were right, all they can do is bark orders."
"we'll were not firebenders brat, we take action" With the contempt in the mans voice he made a grap for the girl and with a hint of amusement she twirled the staff around her fingers hitting his hand causing bruises to welt under the surface. The guard let out a grunt and another soldier grabbed her shoulder put as she passed her staff around her back she ended up slamming him in the gut with the bulk of the hevey wooden rod. " okay, so she's a bit more than a brat, but soon she'll be black and blue!" Two garuds hesitantly came foreward towards the singular earth kingdom girl and she gasped a bit taking a step back. After all it was just a girl, even with orders should they honestly hurt a little brat like that?
"two ageinst one isn't fair" Her staff jabbed the one man in the gut making him curl foreward grabbing his sides in pain. The second man came at her but she hopped onto the armored back of the first soldier her yellow and green cloth moving with her movements untill she jumped off causing the two men to collide, one tripping over the other. That ment four down, but they'd get up soon, she didn't want to knock them down perminantly. Strong arms grabbed her around the waist and mouth and letting out a small yelp she tucked her body foreward slipping out of his grip twisting her ankle a bit wincing and letting the attacker rummble foreward onto the ground. She huffed a bit, hiking was tireing enough and there were still three left to 'impress' "look, just let me through.... " Her body was protesting this, she was a great fighter back home, that was with sleep a full stomach and a rested body
The main gaurd smirked. One little girl may think she knows what she's doing but obviously she was getting worn out. A few of the men she knocked down got to their feet with anger written plainly on their faces as well as annoyance that a little girl was messing around with them, she didn't do any serious damage. As a martial artist it wasn't her style to give up and yet she could feel her face pale. They moved in position to surround her and she held her staff and herself firmly in the ground. Her native style would have to go. She couldn't give up any ground to them. " It amuses me when women think they can hold a candle to men, those blows of you're were weak." The sadistic grin on his face make her stomach boil and he knew she was getting aggrivated with it. " girl I guess, but after we show you you're place we could fix that problem" Some of the soldiers snickered and regained their courage. " if they'd want a willowy little scrap like you" The girl blushed deeply, not from embaressment. From anger. They weren't holding back, neither would she even if she had to limp out of here.
" Trust me, I'm more of a man then the lot of you will ever be!" The brown haired girl sprung into actions spining the staff around her body from one carefully trained hand to the other. The foolish men who stepped foreward were sucessfully knocked to the ground, even though they surrounded her she had the upper hand for having a weapon that was long enough to hit them before they could get close enough to touch her. One of the soliers grabbed her staff and she could feel her heart jump, it they managed to get the weapon away from her she wouldn't have a chance. She closed her eyes groaning as she forced her weigt foreward suddenly pushing the staff the man had in both hands into his gut. He let out a low groan and winced releasing his hold enough for her to pull it back. She nearly stumbled her legs protesting each movement but she got back up before they could retaliate and move in on her.
When she had the chance she ducked down tripping an attacker and ramming the other end of the staff into a mans jaw at the same time. Spinning around the loose braid left her back folling to motion as she slammed her staff onto the fallen mans stomach making him cough as his air was ripped from his lung mommentarily. When she finally got to the loudmouth she glarred at him darkly as he was the one back stepping this time. " my name is Tali, and I think I'll make a woman out of you" With the she whipped the blunt of the staff ageinst his face.
Citizens sitting, watching in disbeleif as the firenation men groaned from the dirt they were sent into had wide eyes at the events that revealed themselves. In their wake was an angry girl with thick brown hair and a staff set rebelliously over her shoulder marching tiredly into the city of Omashu. Tali, the earth warrior would not be pushed around. Once she was out of sight of the gaurds and the by standers she slumped ageinst a wall of a bleached building panting and letting her body feel all the pain it wanted. She definatly wasn't used to this.... this pain this loss. It was true leaving home was dangerous in and of it's self, but doing that on a daily basis would kill her sooner or later.... spirits forbid she ever come up ageinst a true fire bender.
