Oh that had been abyssal. Absolutely terrible. They were certainly the laughing stock of the Fire Nation now.
It had been two months since the performance at the Yubi Estate in the Fire Nation. It had gone well enough, entertained who it was suppose to entertain and the nobles certainly got a kick out of the submissive role that the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe citizens played in the group. As far as they knew, for they had sticks too far up their asses, it was how the Flame Dancers always where. Everything had gone as planned: Li-Wu had beaten Auina in their one-on-one bender. The Firebending performances were flashy and grand, only highlighted by the other bending arts, paying homage to the Firebenders.
Li-wu came off the stage after that final, fantastic performance which involve multiple twisted coils in fire in multiple colors, fireworks, earth bending and a whole hell lot of shirtless sweating swearing he wouldn't bend for a month due to exhaustion
And he had done just that.
It had been amusing for a while, until Bai-Wu became desperate to find SOMEONE to spar with Fire bending wise. The two of them became so disorganized and so out of sync with each other, it was almost as if they were actually two seperate people instead of mirror images. To be honest, it worried some of the others. Their mother and father just shrugged when concerns were brought to them, having seen the two brothers go through this before and of course; just knowing their sons. The entire trip back to the Earth Kingdon had been filled with awkward moments.
Just why were they returning to the Earth Kingdom? Sure, half of the troop had been left behind but for all the pride that Huang Wu felt for the Fire Nation, the Earth Kingdom had been his home for much of his life. His wagon with it's rickety wheels, ostrich-horse down filled mattress, and the warmth of a camp fire was home. While his heart sang to see the golden and scarlet roofs, the clean and straight streets, the white walls with their dark wood trim and the crimson banners of his nation flying, Huang knew he belonged with his family and make-shift family in the Earth Kingdom.
After a weeks worth of traveling, the two groups met up and reunited at the prearranged meeting spot in a Colonial town named Chen Zhu thanks to letters sent via the Fire Nation's network of messenger hawks. It was outside this town, alongside a small creek that they set up camp for the next few days to discuss their next plans. The wagons were circled, tents brought into the middle around the bonfire among the weeping willows, tall maples, and shrubbery that had been cleared and since piled alongside the outer rim as a deterrent to any creatures that might come scurrying by. Silhouette figures were gathered around, some sitting on the ground among the cool grass and dried leaves of summer while others had pulled up chairs and made use of logs. Some children even were even using their family's ostrich horses as lounges. There was laughter and stories once again as friends and family talked among themselves. The cats of the troop found their homes in laps once more and a giant pot held the remnants of Juning's and the other womens' fine cooking.
The two twins, as out of sync as they had become, sat together with their backs against a dirty log. Li-Wu was leaning back, his arms stretched outward across the flaking bark and cool flecks of dirt and soil. His head was back against the log, neck stretched out with his adam's apple creating jutting angle. Black hair was splayed against the bark, falling away from his hairline. Golden eyes were closed peacefully while his legs were stretched out infrot of him. Next to him was his twin, the more energetic Bai-Wu who sat up and alert with his chin resting on his drawn up knee. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail resting against his neck. Neither was wearing their goldenrod bandannas and both had recovered nicely from their time out at sea. Granted only one got sick...
