SO, I saw the Avatar movie recently. It was not the best movie I have seen. I did enjoy it despite its many differences from the cartoon show. Movie and cartoon show are two different media, so some differences were expected. I enjoyed the bending. I thought it was really cool, not just the effects but the martial arts involved. It was intriguing that fire benders couldn't all create fire, but simply control the flame. Except for MIGHTY IROH, of course, who is the Dragon of the West for a reason.
I wanted to get the opinion of those who have seen the movie and how they felt about it compared to the show.
I loved the scenes where you could see the whole northern water tribe city which was HUGE. I didn't like some of the casting in the movie. And to my knowledge this is where most critics ripped the movie. I didn't like that Zuko was a teen and Sokka was a young adult (seems the opposite in the show). I didn't like the Gene Hackman look-a-like that played the master waterbender (Master Pakku I guess...) The actors for Aang, Kitara, Zuko, Iroh, and Ozai were great picks to me. I didn't like how the water tribes actors seemed White and not Inuit-esque.
