These are the rules that govern Feng Shui. These rules are designed to keep things organized and to keep Feng Shui a fun place to roleplay. Not everyone will like or agree with these rules, and you are welcome to that. However, as long as you are a member or guest, you are expected to follow them. You may be corrected at any time by a member of the staff or issued a warning to your account. We may also choose to discuss our reasons behind a punishment with you at anytime, and you will always be made aware of what rule was violated and under what circumstances. You may always appeal to a higher mod. Rules are divided into multiple sections.

General Rules[/u] - In accordance with Proboard's Terms and Conditions, you MUST be 13 years or older to play on Feng Shui. If you are under 13, you are in violation of Proboard's Terms and Conditions and you will be putting Feng Shui in legal jeopardy. We will ask you to leave if it is discovered that you are underage. If you do not leave, we will forcibly ban you.
- Please help us keep this site PG-13 and respectful. Please do not attack anyone based on their race, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or mental or physical disabilities, or their capabilities, be it with the English language, art, or other reasons. Bite your tongue if you must, or find someone who you can complain to. Above all, be respectful of everyone. We all complain and have issues with people, but if you take it to another level we will put a stop to it.
- Signature images may only be 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels wide. Avatars may only be 100 pixels by 100 pixels. We do this to prevent our site from stretching from its designed layout. Signatures and Avatars MUST be PG-13 and may not contain any sexual imagery or nudity.
- Karma is a system to allow you to see how you stand among others. We encourage people to give exaltation when someone makes a good RP post, does something nice, or is very active. We encourage people to smite when someone makes a rude comment, makes a terrible RP post or has misbehaved. However, we do not allow repeated, periodic smite or exaltation of someone by one(1) or a group of people without some basis to back it up. We consider that spamming. Smite once and then move on. Self exalting using multiple accounts (which we can see), will also not be tolerated.
- Plagiarism is an unacceptable offense. If you copy character information from Wikipedia, another RPG, books or other media we will find out. Copying RP posts from another RPG, books, or other media is also unacceptable. This will result in a warning and you will have to re-write the copyrighted material.
- If English is a second, third, or even fourth language, please tell a moderator. We will NOT ask you to leave but we would like to know so that we can be more helpful and more lenient when we read your profile and posts. We understand that the English language and grammar can be hard to grasp. Teiú, one of our best members, taught English to himself and he is a great example of how a member can overcome the language barrier. Obrigada!

Characters- One user name per character please. Please sign up with your character's name, if at all possible, and please use standard English font characters. Not everyone's computer can display other font characters. If your character is a mother or a father or else-wise cares for a minor character, such as a child or an animal familiar, you will not be required to make a new user name for that character. You may create a secondary account for that character if you wish but then they will be subjected to the same profile review as your primary.
- Please choose a name that is not currently being used by any other active character. We know "There are a million Lees", but that doesn't mean that they all have to be on Feng Shui.
- We will not accept any character that is directly or indirectly ripped from another anime, manga, show, video game or other form of media. Yes, you may use a character from any of these media to graphically represent your original Feng Shui character in avatars and signatures, but that character is NOT yours. You may not use their name, their personality, their history, or really even their clothing in your profile. Your profile needs to fit the Avatar World. We don't care about signatures or avatars fitting in.
- Your character may not have a relationship with an Avatar Canon Character such as: boyfriend/girlfriend, sister/brother, long lost child or cousin. We know the immediate family of the canon characters. Exceptions may be made under certain conditions as long as they make sense, such as a metalbending police officer having worked with Police Chief Lin Bei-Fong or an air acolyte having studied with Tenzin.
- The maximum number of characters per player is three(3) characters, one(1) of which may be a Canon. You may request more once you have established yourself as a reliable player.
- You must identify your character with one nation. Fire Nation, North/South Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom or United Republic. You may not claim to be neutral and your nation MUST be the nation your character belongs to by birth location. The United Republic has it's own culture and is a recognized nation, so any child born in the United Republic must list United Republic as their nation. They may however choose to identify personally and culturally with a nation that their heritage stems from, for example, a United Republic Citizen who identifies strongly with her Water Tribe heritage, choosing to dress and practice their customs.
- Your character may only bend one(1) canonical element. Water, Fire or Earth. The only airbenders are those descended from Avatar Aang through Tenzin unless canon proves otherwise and Aang's other two children have air benders. No light, shadow, bone, or tea bending (unless you are the spirit of Iroh). You may not bend multiple elements. Absolutely no blood bending unless you are playing Amon/Noatak or Tarrlok. If you MUST have a blood bender for some reason such as a juicy plot that can get the whole site talking for weeks, Discuss it with the moderators.

Role-Playing:- You may not post in the RP boards until your character has been accepted. If you post and you are not yet accepted, we will move the post and lock it until your character is accepted.
- We expect your characters to be as powerful as REASONABLE for a person of their age and training. This does not mean your sixteen year old who trained for 15 years of his life will be the supreme fighter; we just won't allow something like that. Be more down to earth. A 14 year old punk will be easily overpowered by a 35 year old hardened soldier.
- In lieu of that, we play on the Honor System. You are expected to take hits and damage. Your opponent is expected to take hits and damage. We will call you out on it. Since we do not have hit points, it is up to you and your partner(s) to decide when the fight is over and who is the winner and loser. Please discuss this. Also, you may NOT control what happens to the other person unless they give you permission.
- Please no Out of Character (OOC) talk in the RPGs. A basic ((Should we end it here?)) or a ((Sorry that took so long)) is fine but no conversations. Also, no txting, no chat-speak, and no emoticons/smiles. Please make an effort to use proper grammar and the spell check that is included in the forum (or Firefox if you're like half the internet). It is considered standard to write in third person (S/He said, did, ran, belched...).
- Please do not use size, color, or font codes in the RP boards. You may do as you see fit in the OOC boards, but please do not change the standard in the RP boards. It can be hard to read for people with sight problems and on certain sizes and types of monitors and screens. We will change the code.
- You may use cursing in the RPs. We'd be happy if you come up something creative and Avatar themed (Spirits damn it!). Please do not curse like a sailor, (unless you're character is a sai—never mind!).
- All RP posts MUST be 150 words or more. We have a code that counts your words located at the bottom of each post box. It's easy, I promise.
A character may only be in one place at a time, and you should move through time linearly. If you are in the North Pole but you want to go to the Earth kingdom, you will need to finish your North Pole post first.
- You may move about threads freely, with no restriction regarding time. However we do ask that you govern yourself and your posts SANELY. Please do not handle more than you can chew and please understand that you do not need to be in EVERY SINGLE thread. Give folks some breathing room and respect when a thread says it's closed to certain people or open to only a few.
- Remember In Game Actions do not necessary equal Out of Game Feelings. Just because Lee hates your character, Chen, does not mean that Lee's Player hates Chen's Player. Or it could, but it does not not ALWAYS. We don't want to hear you complaining about Lee being mean to Chen unless it's the PLAYERS being mean. Characters are characters.
- Try and be on the same page as everyone else is when you are joining a thread that is active. Do not expect a standoff or duel to come to an abrupt halt to acknowledge your character's big entrance. Likewise, don't expect to have your character acknowledged by others if they continue acting as a bystander or off in their own world.
- Give people a chance to play and let them get their posts in. Don't assume that they are going to run down the street. Give them a chance to have their character throw on their track shoes and warm up. They may run the OTHER direction just to surprise you.

Profile Rules- No pictures whatsoever. Save any drawings or pictures of your characters, their weapons, or outfits for the General Board or your avatar and signature. In this forum we use words to create images. We want to see your writing skills!
- Do not add fields to the profile form, such as a field for nicknames, or a field for family, or a field for special kung fu. The standard profile form has areas for ALL of these to be included. Exceptions are made for Pets/Animal Sidekicks/Dependent children or adults who will not be played full-time. These folks should should have a small mini profile located at the bottom. This should include Name, Physical Description and Personality. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
- Underline and Bold all the fields. The fields are Name, Age, Nation, etc. etc. etc., not what your actually writing. Or better yet—when you go to look at the profile form—do you see that smaller box with the smaller text inside of it? That's the code you need. Just copy and paste that. Do not add any other coding. Everything should be plain text other than the profile form.
- RP Samples must be of your character. This is to ensure that you meet our quality standards and that you simply didn't copy and paste someone else's work. Also, it must be at least 150 words, as stated in the Feng Shui Rules.
- Please reply to your profiles when you have modified them. We try to keep an eye on all the profiles to see if they have been modified, but sometimes we miss them. Please reply to your profile when you have modified it so that we are aware of the changes. If you do not, then we may simply overlook your profile.
- Asian theme names whenever possible. Avatar is an Asian inspired world. Therefore we like to see Asian names. Our definition of Asian means any names originating from areas such as the Middle East all the way to Japan, Indonesia, and even Hawaii (excluding Russia). If you have a good American or other names that is not common or fitting, then please, try it by us. We just do not want characters with names like Sarah or Chris.
- Follow the genetic standards. Each group seems to have it's own genetic standards—and yes, genetics can vary from person to person, but there are some absolutes. Water Tribe citizens have blue eyes, usually brown hair and have the darker skin tones compared to other nations. Fire Nation citizens have gold to brown eyes, often black hair and usually the lightest skin compared to other nations. Earth Kingdom citizens seem to be a mixture of skin tones and hair colors while limited to Brown or Green Eyes. If your character is a mix of nations, then please follow these establishments in regards to parentage. If a child has Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation heritage then they may have the pale skin and dark hair seemingly inherit in the Fire Nation but green eyes of the Earth Kingdom.
- Bending abilities must be specified. If your character is a bender, somewhere in your profile you MUST say what kind. Bending is limited to only one element and the element that belongs to the nation your character's parent(s) hailed from. A child of a Fire Nation citizen and a Water Tribe citizen may bend either fire or water. If both parents hail from the United Republic, then you must bend an element from their grandparents or possibly great-grandparents or whatever generation was born in one of the 3 main nations prior to the United Republic. No one may play an Air Bender unless they are a canon descendant of Aang.
- Do not post in someone else's profile. You may certainly read their profile and discuss it in the c-box or somewhere else. Only Profile Moderators, the creator and the Admin are allowed to post in profiles.
- Please do not bump profiles until 3 days have passed. The staff all lead lives outside the forum and away from the computer, sometimes we can not get to a profile right away or sometimes we just are not in the mood to review. If a profile has not been review within 3 days of it being posted or 3 days of the last review, please go ahead and bump it. However, please be understanding of our needs to rest our brains and fingers. Carpal tunnel isn't fun.
- Please reply to your profiles. If you have a profile that needs to be moved from the unfinished characters section or feel that your profile hasn't been reviewed in a reasonable amount of time (3 days is our rule), please reply to it and say so.
