Name:[/b] (The) Earth King, formerly Prince Kuei
Age:[/b] presumably mid to late twenties
Gender:[/b] Male
Group: Earth Kingdom Citizens
Nation:[/b] Earth Kingdom
Bender?:[/b] Um… Let us say NO until the show says otherwise
Physical Appearance:[/b]
Despite the power of position his bespectacled majesty has a figure no one would honestly call intimidating. Height-wise, his majesty stands erect within the estimated range of 5’6” and 5’11,” not including his crown. The crown hides much of his ebony-black hair, save for the braided, lower back length ponytail while his small, lens-only glasses rest atop the wide nostrils of his prominent nose with its thick and broad bridge. His copper brown eyes have a distinctive lift at the outer corners with very little crease at the upper eyelid. The elliptic eyes are deep set in oblique folds of skin that slightly lift at the corners, seeming to recede and prominent his brow bone with his trimmed eyebrows yet the widely spaced eyes make up for it in giving his face an open, youthful appearance.
Save for his soft hands and diamond shaped face with rounded jaw, much of the light caramel/buff shade of brown body is often indiscernible due to the usual amount of concealing clothing he wears. Yet it can be assumed he has a light and trim build, rather than flabby and lanky, with what maybe a rather flat torso. There is possibly a bit of a belly from his lavish lifestyle along with a little meat but no real solid muscle on his arms from the occasional recreational sport like archery and hint of solid muscle on his legs from years of walking to and from the enormous spaces in the palace (when he is not being carried) such as the bathroom, throne room, bedroom, dining hall, royal garden, up and down stairs.
Clothing/Armor:[/b]
His Majesty’s usual attire begins with the fine silk breechcloth, followed by fitted silk, mahogany trousers. Over this is an ankle length chartreuse green silk skirt with thigh length slits, myrtle green borders encircling a large creamy yellow band with small, vertical black stripes. Adorning his feet are (possibly) leather, mahogany brown colored slippers that curve upwards at the toe and elaborately crafted into stylized badger-moles. The soles are of a lemon cream color and there is a lemon cream color strip along the top of the shoe running from ankle to toe.
Covering his majesty’s forearms and wrists are elaborately crafted sort of vambraces. Beginning at the wrists is a myrtle green trim followed by some-sort-of-design in lemon cream followed by chartreuse green, a myrtle green border, gold colored band with thin vertical black stripes, ending with a myrtle green border.
Over a white silk shirt is a high collar, long sleeved, canary yellow silk overshirt, tunic or cheongsam with a myrtle green trim along the bottom. The article folds over to his right while being below waist length in the front but knee-length along the sides and back. It is kept closed by a myrtle wide green belt with lemon cream colored buckle in the shape of a circle with a square hole. This article of clothing also has a creamy yellow band with vertical black stripes encompassed by myrtle green borders along the right fold’s edge. Adorning his shoulders is a chartreuse green cape that measures as far as his lower back, tangerine colored underneath with myrtle green trim and held in place by a lemon cream colored clasp at his neck in the stylized rendition of a badger-mole.
Of his majesty’s personal adornments are a set of a hundred-plus harlequin colored, jade beads about his neck at an estimated diameter equivalent to the length of his thumb. Rimless glasses hang about the bridge of his majesty’s nose. Just atop his nostrils and maybe be more for reading, and even nearsightedness, than anything else. Near the tip of his ponytail is a bright mahogany colored, silk ribbon.
Atop his head, is his majesty’s most defining adornment—the royal crown. A bell shaped, stupa or salakot-esque hat consisting of an inverted, squat circular cone with the tapering (point absent) portion placed upon his while the base is rimmed by a mahogany colored border and topped with a dome shaped cap and conical spire atop it in the shape of… something. Giving it its stupa like appearance. Save for the gold or corn yellow colored spire and rim the hat is of a myrtle green or forest green color. Placed at the defined center of the crown is a metallic gold colored, trapezoidal plate with a fitted corn yellow circle with a small square hole in the center.
Weapons:[/b]
As king of both Ba Sing Se and the Earth Kingdom continent, in theory he wields complete power over the city, the kingdom, the continent, its military and its people. In theory…
Personality:[/b]
A hopeful and loving individual, his majesty is rather naïve and idealistic, especially in the overall goodness of humanity. Allowing him to place an almost unquestioning and unwavering trust in people and their abilities, especially when it comes to Long Feng who has (supposedly) been a loyal servant to him throughout his life as nanny, advisor and now Grand Secretariat. Often mild-mannered and humble in his tone and actions despite his position, his majesty strives, in his mind, to become the ideal as spoken of both in his studies and idealized in stories. Though unable to fill out the role of warrior-king as performed by his ancestors, his majesty hopes to make up for it in performing social services for society. Such services include commissioning public works such as libraries and irrigation systems, sending out expeditions not only for exotic pets but for whatever seems beneficial for human progress in fields as medicine and engineering, or giving additional funding to the departments of Ba Sing Sei University.
His sedately peaceful and monotonous life with few royal duties has urged his majesty into numerous activities when he is not being lazy. These include reading, pretending, puzzle games, pai sho, riding, archery, minimal martial arts, archery, calligraphy, brush painting, poetry, entertaining himself with performances or the royal wives, entertaining himself with exotic pets—the (grizzly) bear named Bosco being amongst his favorite, sleeping or eating.
Though unsteady and indecisive when it comes to most decisions, he still at least attempt to take charge of the matter as it were—reminding himself of his title and bloodline to encourage him on, despite the nervousness of making a mistake. Rarely has there ever been any need for angry in his life save for when he attempted to wrestle power and assert his rightful authority leaving little need for any strength in his demeanor and thus allowing him to cope with an almost innate nervousness despite having to command adults. The only real same age peers he has ever known are his numerous (seventy something) wives that have always been used against him as a distraction from personal duties as well as a necessity to continue his bloodline. He has mostly gotten over his initial nervousness around women as much of his life was spent under the authority and tutelage of men, he still exhibits some bit unease and shyness around them. Though along with serving as objects of pleasure, these women also provide and overall companionship in his normally lone life as well as some small role as a surrogate mother, having lost his own in childbirth.
An awkward life about adult males and same age females, by himself and around his pets, his majesty feels the most at ease. Able to express himself—fears, hopes, desires, and the like—without regret, comment and reprimand and amongst his many exotic pets he feels most open with the human height, and even human-like, pet Grisly Bear named Bosco who inadvertently reminds him the peacefulness and sedateness of his life and the greater world (so he thinks).
Background:[/b]
Titled and born Prince Kuei, the fifty-second ruler of Ba Sing Sei not only ruled the Earth Kingdom from the age of four but also/still knows little of his parents. Birthed from the King’s first wife, his mother the Empress is suspected to have died in childbirth while his father, the Emperor, passed away when Kuei was only four. Unable to fully rule as a minor, his authority and life were under the constant advisement and control of numerous regents and other caretakers appointed by his father before death. Among them the now politically powerful and politically monopolizing Grand Secretariat Long Feng, who methodically ousted his rivals to become not only the king’s de facto guardian and head advisor, but in the eyes of the king a distant, pseudo-older brother or surrogate father.
Birthed into the structure, monotonous and underlying subtleties of an extremely high ranking noble, the Earth King has spent much of his life virtually isolated from his age peers and thus living within the company of adults almost exclusively. Groomed, instructed and influenced by adults to this very day, his training as king encompassed general studies such as royal protocol, arithmetic, etiquette, law, rhetoric, religion, history, geography and literature along with the arts of poetry, philosophy, calligraphy, brush painting, music, dancing and ethics to round him out as a proper and successful ruler he was expected to become. Without real playmates save for Long Feng who was relegated to him as a glorified “nanny,” the young majesty often entertained himself, usually involving the use of his imagination or reading, listening to musical performances or watching dancers or told stories on occasion, or rearing a pet. Later, as he grew older, along with rearing a pet came the additional activities of eating, painting, calligraphy, entertaining himself with the royal wives, learning ride to “horseback” and chariot, dabbling in swordsmanship, spear wielding and archery in attempts to break from the daily monotony and boredom as Grand Secretariat Long Feng and numerous aides leave him little in actually running the kingdom.
Though constantly reminded his status, role and purpose as a king, his majesty’s life and duties were always under the control of others. Namely his father’s appointed men. As he began to hit puberty and become a teen, nearing adulthood, the Earth King continually pushed against the confines of his controlled existence in hopes of asserting his own authority. Part of this was brought upon by his majesty’s will of becoming an ideal king and in part due to the aide and glorified nanny, Long Feng speaking into his ear about taking his rightful place but stood out of the power struggle. Continually his attempts to become worthy in the eyes of his father and ancestors who ruled before him were subverted, often subtly, as his father’s appointed men desired to remain in control. The constant power struggle eventually shifted in his majesty’s favor when the brilliant mind of the appointed upstart, Long Feng, finally (just as he planned) took the king’s side against his peers.
By the time his majesty was between sixteen and eighteen and Long Feng’s cunning mind by his side, his father’s appointed caretakers have been ousted from power. They were brushed aside in court politics, demoted to positions and duties of little influence, replaced or “promoted” to often isolated locales away from Ba Sing Sei under the influential advice of Long Feng. As his majesty basked in victory and was beginning to take up royal duties with running the city and kingdom proper, Long Feng gracefully asserted his duty in aiding the king as per the last king’s wishes in whatever way possible. Congenially convincing the Earth King that his more experienced hand should oversee many of the official matters such as the military, finance and resource management, occasionally coming to the king for supposed advice, insight or a signature while his majesty was free to do as he pleased with daily life. And for his honor and loyalty, Long Feng was officially given the title of Grand Secretariat as his majesty’s first royal decree.
For over half-a-decade this arrangement has stood as such, with Long Feng taking care of many of the kingdom’s and city’s official business while the Earth King every once in a while broke away from his lavishly lived daily life to oversee Long Feng’s or reinstill his trust of the man’s capabilities while making the occasionally putting forth some royal matter such as sending forth an expedition for an exotic animal or putting forth funding or the creation of public works.
Though curious of the outside world only read about in stories, ever since his coronation the information was mutually agreed by his caretakers to be kept from him. Mainly out of an agreed decision for his father’s appointed men to remain in power rather than the king take full authority. He has remained in the confines of the palace as a periphery result as well, reminding of his godhood status among his people and thus no need to interact with them as well as the his needs and wants always being fulfilled within the palace grounds. Thus lessening any further need to explore what he considers a peaceful world.

Any further and His Majesty could detach his jaw like a snake.
“yaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh…” mouth hanging open while reclining his back over the balcony rail. Fastening his crown to his head with both hands, the rain drops missing his mouth going pik, plik, pip as they splattered his face.
Gigglingly satisfied he receded from the balcony, wiping his face while returning to the bedchamber proper. “Even if they do make you sleepy,” turning back to the balcony with a satisfied sigh, “rainy days certainly are beautiful… Right Bosco?”
Unenthusiastically Bosco looked up from his curled position in his ornately carved and furnished bed at the foot of His Majesty’s own bed. The animal titled its head to the side for a moment and then gave a dull roar before returning to slumber.
“People may frown,” he mocked frowned himself, “and say it is dreary and dark and saddening—but rain brings forth so much LIFE. Helping plants grow. Refilling water tables. Continuing life as we know it!” Triumphantly pointing a finger into the air and then falling backwards onto his bed. “Today is such a beautiful day indeed. Right Bosco?”
“Bosco…?”
After a moment of no response he crawled on his bed and peered down over the foot of it.
“Mmm,” agreeably nodding, “I think I shall take a nap too.”

Name:[/u] Bosco
Age:[/u] undetermined, possibly 5 to 10 years of age
Species:[/u] Brown/Grizzly Bear
Appearance:[/u] Bosco bears a distinctive hump on his shoulders, concave or dish shaped face, claws the length of a human finger with a darkish brown coat. For clothing he wears a silk tunic, that fits more like a half shirt on him, of an old gold or khaki color with olive green trim on the cuffs, collar and fold. Folded and buttoned on his right side. He also wears a forest green colored, stupa shaped hat with a canary yellow spire and canary yellow circle with square in it at the defined center. The hat has a board silk strap that ties under his chin to keep it on.
Background:[/u] Bosco is the Earth King’s pet bear, favored among his exotic pets. Captured as a cub along the Earth Kingdom’s eastern forests Bosco young age have allowed him to easily adapt to captive life. As such, it would appear royal life has subverted much of his natural instincts and ferociousness into something of a teddy bear that shares his owner’s sweet tooth for cakes, pies and other sweets. His docile demeanor and almost human like behavior has awarded him a place as not only the king’s favored pet but also closest companion as his majesty feels no qualm in sharing whatever secrets and expressing whatever feeling he has before the animal nor has need to keep up appearances. Becoming the closest thing the Earth King has ever had to a real friend. Much of Bosco’s days are spent at the side of the Earth King wherever he goes and is even being taught how to play pai sho. Thus far the only one of his kind found, his majesty has sent out numerous expeditions of zoologist lead soldiers to find him a mate.
