There could also be a contest of some sort where the winner, or winners, could submit a profile for a bender that could be reviewed and potentially accepted. Ok, not my best idea, but still, it's a thought.

Or better yet, a certain number of benders could be allowed each month, nothing terribly high, maybe just two or three, even though I'm sure they'd be applied for in the blink of an eye, and this would be difficult to organize...hm...

BOOOO U SUCK! Do you have any idea on how to limit benders, Kado? Hm? No? I thought so. You have no right to speak then. We've been working on ideas for the past month becuase we WANT to bring benders back but we don't want a ratio of 7-2 like we had. So unless you have any ideas on how to limit the benders, I suggest you wait patiently or go check out Flying Bison, our sister RPG

BOOOO U SUCK! *laughs histerically at your idiocy and shortsightedness as well as your lack of witty banter and the fact that you probably won't even understand half of this post*

This may seem a bit extreme, but maybe this would work a solution. Every nation always has an academy of some sort, right? It would take work from the mods, but why not get a group of people who want to be bender, and hold a role-played class? If they write as if they deserve the title of a bender, then at the end of the role-play (maybe a few weeks), you select the few that you believe should become benders. This could be judged on many levels. Does the person act as if they are a master which would not be sufficient if they just started? Nor should someone who isn't active with the role-play be picked. A bender for the site I believe should be active, creative, and most of all, realistic with their character. But it would take a lot of work, and I'm sure another plan can be produced. Hope this helps. ;D

Indeed, while a great idea in theory, I doubt it would applicable in practice. I for one believe that players who might not be so good at RPing can play benders well. (I've had 9 years RPing experience myself). And don't think we want to limit benders based on .. how good you are.. I know we're trying to make it a bit more random. However, good idea, we'll consider it.

Hi...I'm new and I know I shouldn't be saying much, but it's people's choices on whether their character should be a bender or not. I mean, I totally agree with too many benders, but I mean, usually people, like myself, sign up to Avatar RP's just because of the bender part so please think about it =]

...usually people, like myself, sign up to Avatar RP's just because of the bender part so please think about it =] That's precisely why we have a rule like this one... Feng Shui is not like most other RPGs. In fact, I'd say it's a world apart from every other one I've seen. But this site is geared toward a higher level of RPing, and the current bender ban is way to both even out the ratio of benders as well as weed out the people with truly wish to RP from those who simply saw one episode and are infatuated with the idea of having a bender of their own. We're close to lifting the ban, but one of the circumstances will likely be that you have to have a non-bender character wth a certain number of posts before you can make a new bender.

It could be just as wise a decision to wait until the percentage of benders in each nation is below 40%. It's practically at that percentage anyway.

I'm new here and the no benders rule is understandable. Don't get me wrong I would love to be an earth bender but they want Feng Shui to be as real as possible. With that being said I think that when you are making a character the mods and other decision making people should randomly choose if your a bender , because in Avatar you have no control over where you are born. For example If someone turned in a character application the mods could choose wich of the four nations you are in and if you are a bender.

Exactly. We'd like the process of who is a bender to be completely random. Granted, it's unfair that we felt we had to instigate a ban on benders because the people who joined before hand get to have benders, and anyone who joins after can't. It's extremely unfair and I'd give up my own benders if they were not involved in storylines. Please, if you have any ideas that would be indisputable, please feel free to let us know ^^
