Of course the polar bear dog would greedily gobble up whatever was given to him, it was well past his usual supper and he didn't get his lunch, in fact when the boy stopped he began to whimper but all the same Pikatti followed Aden into Desna's room. Not before sending a rather nasty look to the healer, who was one of the girls who'd continually shooed him out of the room throughout the day. Seeing Desna he bounded over to the girl plopping himself at her side and nuzzling his large head into her.
Weakly Desna fought her own pet off scratching behind his ears and then hugging him feeling little energy to do anything else. It was a relief though, she didn't know why but she almost led herself to believe that her father had somehow found out about her. After all the Makoktok family was fairly well know for building ships. Then again there might be other families with the same name. It wasn't as she even knew much about her fathers side of the family, she tried to stay away from them.
" Hi" Desna said with a bit of a smile though she looked about ready to fall back asleep. " I'm feeling a little better, it still feels like I have a vice around my skull though." She added trying to inject a bit of humor into the situation. No one liked a grumpy guppy.

It was nice to see Desna and Pikatti back together again. As much as her independence was a point of concern, Pikatti's presence definitely helped reassure her safety. While those two enoyed their reunion, Aden helped himself to a seat beside the bed and placed the food he'd brought on his lap.
"That's no fun," he responded to Desna's appraisal of her condition. "But at least your coherent now... Any idea when you'll be be back on your feet?"
Of course... she had been on her feet earlier. Aden recalled her attempting to storm out of the room with her shirt barely on, but the way the healers dragged her back into the room made him sure that she wasnt really supposed to be out of bed.
"Oh," he added afterward, remembering the food, "I also brought some food from home. I didn't know what kind of meals they gave you here, and my mom felt some good home-cooked fish might do some good." He smiled slightly as he placed the wrapped up fillet near the bed for her to eat at her leisure.

" mmn, when every I think too hard my head is scattered like a tower of-play-children's" Desna flushed a bit, she didn't mean to actually display what she was trying to say but her usually random pattern of thoughts were indeed a little scrambled. Usually she was able to at least string things into a sentence that didn't sound too idiotic. She gestured with her hands stumbling over the right words and despite her best efforts she still managed to blurt out nonsense. " block things..."
It was mildly annoying but she couldn't help it, spirits thank that she was in bed instead of on her feet wandering back home though she was feeling guilty she wasn't doing so. If any of the plants suffered because of her absence she'd be sorely upset for a while. Not much could help that, not now anyway, if she was feeling better later when most of the healers were asleep she'd sneak out.
Aden placed some fish on the side of the bed and the smell of food made her cringe, her stomach wasn't feeling up to eating anything though she was hungry, hunger pains she was used to, believe it or not...Still she smiled at him, a little forcibly. " Tell her thank you for me then,"
Hearing a whimper from Pikatti prompted her to look at the polar bear dog and rub his head, more than likely she'd end up giving him the fish, she just didn't want to insult Aden by giving the food he brought for her to a dog, most people felt it was insulting but Desna would never give Pikatti anything she wouldn't eat herself. He was her friend not a beast of burden who got scraps.

"Will do," Aden assured Desna, making a mental note to relay her thanks to his mother when he returned home. He leaned a little forward as he sat cross-legged beside the bed, planting his elbows on his knees for support. If what she said was true and it hurt her that much to even carry on a coherent conversation, then perhaps it would be best if he just let her get some rest?
Aden debated that point, but for the moment he felt it necessary to stay and let Desna know that she wasn't forgotten. He could just sit silently and provide an attentive ear if she wished to speak. Silence passed for a few moments and Aden idly reached a hand over to scratch Pikatti's lower back.
"Hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow," the young warrior thought out loud. Aden felt strangely helpless in a situation such as this, and lending moral support to others always left him feeling somewhat emotionally exposed. Certainly he'd come a long way since he returned from the Earth kingdom, but it was a sensation he was still keenly aware of whenever he forced himself to lower his emotional defenses and actually make an effort to connect with others.

"Yeah..." She said ruefully, tomorrow, Desna cringed at the word, she didn't want to be here through the night, asleep in a cot while Pikatti waits outside and she gets pestered every few hours? No thank you, it wasn't an ideal situation for anyone, least of all a girl who had so many people depending on her. It wasn't as if she had family that could baby her while they over saw her responsibilities. Drawing in a breath the girl hefted herself up and into a sitting position instead of being lounged back on the furs. She'd recuperated enough, she felt like she'd have an easier time making it back to her home now anyway. She could sleep once the plants were tended and Pikatti was fed.
Her vision jilted a little and she closed her eyes a few seconds until it steadied and then once more her attention went to Aden. " You have my sled right?" The wheels in her mind were turning, slower than usual but she was thinking about heading back, no doubt about that. Pikatti sat up wagging his stump of a tail merrily, if his master was getting up it meant she was better right?
Running a hand through her hair she noted that the healers must have brushed it, it felt, not as knotted as it had been last she could remember. That wasn't an important thought but it was hard to concentrate. " I'm going to have to get it.."

Aden sat up a little straighter when Desna leaned forward as if to rise. He lifted one hand from his knee, but restrained himself from reaching out to stop her. Instead he just kneaded his fingers together on that hand as he considered what his course of action should be.
"You should probably stay in bed for now," the young warrior said, glancing around the room for a moment. Aden never felt right telling other people what was best for them, especially when he wasn't entirely sure. "The sled is safe, and you can get it tomorrow."
Pikatti seemed excitable and ready to go, which was understandable given his situation for the last several hours. Aden reached a hand out and placed it on the bear-dog's back to try and keep him from getting to worked up. Aden cast his gaze once more at Desna to see if she was still attempting to get out of bed and hoped that he would not have to try and keep her here.
After all, from all he'd gathered in their past interactions, Desna had no family to go to inside the city; whether because she couldn't or wouldn't. For a fleeting moment he considered offering his own home as sanctuary if she was so adamant about getting away from the Healing Huts, but that just seemed grossly inappropriate.

Everyone and their aunt seemed intent on keeping her in the annoyance the healing huts hat become, if it wasn't a healer or some one else it was one of her very own friends seeming impartial to her own feeling and choosing that a bed was the best place for her. It was becoming annoying, she didn't snub herself at their concern but they just didn't understand what she was going through did they?
" My plants." She sputtered out awkwardly trying to formulate some kind of coherent argument but it seemed easier to just accept that she wasn't leaving right now. Of course Desna rarely settled for the easy route and often enough she turned small things into giant problems or ignored them completely. Her face did turn to Aden though, her expression sad and betraying to her usual sunny mask of smiled and laughs.
Why did she need to go home again? She needed to think, it was hard, but she finally figured it out, if only for a couple seconds. " I need to take care of them." She went on finally a small touch of panic in her knitted brows and slightly down turned lips. " They could freeze or-or or......." Alright so she couldn't really think of any other argument for it but it still worried her none the less.
The world started shaking and spinning and Desna put a hand to her head trying to keep herself from getting worked up. It would just aggravate issues after all. "I can't leave them out there any longer than I-" Her heart lurched along with her head, worry, panic, and a glimmer of consern for herself. " I need to go home."

The way Desna was beginning to fret, Aden wondered if he would have to call the nurses in to help calm her down. He hoped it wouldn't have to come to that, but it seemed to him like her sickness was still getting the best of her.
"You can't go out there now," Aden said, shifting forward into a kneeling position to try and place a hand on Desna's shoulder. It wasn't much contact, but enough that he could slow down her attempts to rise. "In your state and at night, you'd freeze before you made it out of the city," he went on trying to rationalize with the girl. "If you really need to see your plants soon then I'll go with you tomorrow morning as soon as the sun is up, but you need to promise me you won't try to make the trip tonight."
The young warrior looked squarely at Desna with a hard, uncompromising look that was usually for people he was not on such friendly terms with. However, considering Desna's yak-headedness and her apparent delirium, he figured it was appropriate to get his message across.

Aden put a hand on her shoulder and it was enough to get her attention, she looked at him, keeping quiet as he tried to rationalize with her. His points made sense, she might have been able to argue but they seemed pretty solid to her,
With a small bit of concern still in her eyes Desna pressed her lips together trying to judge him and find some little flaw in plot to keep her here. He seemed stern and she doubted she could over power him. Pikatti would help her without a doubt but he'd be using claws and teeth, that or he'd just look at her and loll her tongue out of her mouth. Rather detected Desna closed her eyes and slumped back against the pillows a small whimper weaseling it's way out of her throat from the movement and mild discomfort.
Sullenly Desna cracked her eyes open and looked towards Aden with a pout. " What about Pikatti? They won't let me have him in my room..." She lifted her arm sluggishly and held it out, Pikatti took the cue and moved closer to her so she could pat his head, his soft tongue playing over her fingers in a small attempt to return the sentiment. " I don't like being here...."

Aden cast a look over at Pikatti and wondered if the polar bear-dog would be allowed to stay. He had a mild enough disposition for people he considered unthreatening, and considering Desna's situation it didn't seem too unreasonable a favor to ask.
"It's just for tonight," Aden assured her, feeling somewhat bad that she was unhappy. But he'd always been taught to listen to what the Healers had to say when it came to matters of sickness, and so he figured Desna should get her rest as they suggested. "Besides, if you don't suppress this cold now, they'll make you stay even longer." Hopefully that thought would inspire her to get some rest for the night and not try to sneak out.
"And I'll talk to the healers about letting Pikatti stay with you," he added. Aden wasn't sure really what else could be said aside from repeaing his littany of recommending that she get some rest. When you were sick, that was just about all that you could do.

Desna closed her eyes, partially to fight away the tears that wanted to spill down her face and partially because the light was becoming straining to her. She wanted the nice cool cloth back on her forehead but the healers weren't gonna pop in during her little visit. All the same she really didn't want Aden to leave, he and Pikatti were comforting, familiar, she hated being in places that were strange to her.
" I don't want to stay now..." She argued softly resting her hand on top of Pikatti's head as the dog laid down partially on her stomach. Her face was mildly flushed from the cold but it was a curious thing to think that she was starting to grow attached to people. Maybe it was her own sense of self preservation that told her to listen to Aden but maybe it was because she honestly cared what he thought.
" But I guess I could put up with it if they let me keep Pikatti in here..." Desna pursed her lips looking rather listlessly at the ceiling before glancing over to Aden shyly. It was weird to feel small, well she was always small, but to actually feel weak and in need of protection. Something told her she could trust him

"That's better," Aden said softly, not wanting to come across as a scolding parent. He idly scratched Pikatti's flank once more and then reclined easily beside the bed. The young warrior didn't really want to disturb Desna's recovery, but neither did he think it would be right for him to leave so quickly. Instead h just resolved to stay in solence and offer whatever comforting words he could if she felt like speaking.
However, it wasn't too long before Desna slipped too deeply into her rest and it seemed like she was sleeping. Pikatti also appeared to e napping, although the bear-dog's eyes cracked open when Aden got to his feet. He patted the animal gently to keep him from rising and then crept over toward the door to the room. He carefully slipped out into the hall and then approached one of the older healers.
"Excuse me," he said, catching her attention, "I wanted to ask permission for my friend to keep her pet in the room with her."
"Policy is not to allow animals in the recovery rooms," the older woman responded plainly, looking at him over a cup of tea.
"Yes, I know," Aden said, scratching his temple, "but she has no immediate family save for her bear-dog, and I know it would make her much more comfortable to know he was nearby." The healer didn't seem to keen on the idea. "He's very well behaved," Aden pressed, "And I don't think there's anywhere else for him to spend the night. They're both asleep right now, so there's probably-"
"Very well, very well," the healer cut him off, raising a hand to stop his rambling. "He can stay, but if he snaps at any of the healers he'll be outside in a pen."
Aden bowed in response. "Thank you," he said, and then started on his way back home. If he knew Desna as he thought he did, he should probably get to sleep early. Unless she was much sicker than he thought, she'd probably be on his doorstep before the sky even began to grow bright with pre-dawn light.

She didn't want to stay but at least he'd help her, what little he could. She smiled somewhat as Aden nested near the bed, she was somewhat worried about him catching whatever she had but for fear of him leaving her alone in this horrible place she stayed silent, murmuring silly chit chat back and forth between herself and Aden, she didn't even recall passing into sleep but as she did so her breathing evened out and any further conversation was ended. She didn't see Aden leave but Pikatti's comforting presence stayed with her through the night, though the wrapped fish Aden had left for her didn't last an hour with a nosy yet hungry polar bear dog.
Dreams were sparse, connected by vague thoughts, various images and faces flashed across her head, as she entered a nightmare a cool hand on her forehead soothed her, the night healers doing this and that to make her comfortable and not wake her, a feat in and of it's self. Her original plan had been to wake up in the middle of the night but her body decided it would be best to rest as Aden had all but ordered her to do. Maybe that was why he was in her mind, either as a bystander or the for front of her dreamland dramas.
In the morning Desna was greeted by light and a tongue on her face. She frowned and turned on her side trying to hide from the insistent licking. It wasn't exactly pleasant to be greeted by that kind of morning breath, as much as she loved Pikatti. Her eyes cracked open and she saw the vacant healing mat with a bowl of water sitting by her side. She rubbed her eyes slowly waking up but it wasn't fast enough for the polar bear dog seeing as he climbed onto her with his weight bearing down on her. " Ugh, Pikatti- off!" Desna feebly pushed at the dog finally sitting up and stretching feeling a cotton like dryness to her mouth and an ache in her muscles but her head felt much better.
The girl made short order of getting ready to leave, the healer who's taken care of her the majority of the time looked her over and told her what to do and how long she should be resting before she dismissed her. Desna Got herself bundled up and despite not having her sled with her found enough coins in her pocket for something for Pikatti to eat. From there she headed to Aden's house needing her sled and the things on it in order to get the supplies she knew she needed before she could think of heading back out on the shelf. " Aden?!" Desna put her hand in her mitten and coughed lightly, no where near as bad as it was. " You home...?"

By the time Aden awoke the sun was already creeping into the sky. It took him a few moments to register the fact that it was past dawn and Desna was not already upon his house and attempting to retrieve her sled. So with groggy eyes and a healthy amount of yawning he went about the task of getting dressed for a lengthy walk.
Desna didn't give him long to prepare, though, and he was just slipping on his boots when he heard her voice at the door. "Come on in," he called out from his bedroom across the den. It would be another moment or two before his boots were on enough to walk, and he didn't feel like making her wait in the cold.
"Who's that?" his mother's voice asked from the next room over. Jula stuck her head out from her own room and glanced around curiously. "Are we expecting company?"
"I'm walking Desna back to her house," Aden called back to his mother. It was funny, but he had forgotten to tell his parents that little detail the previous night when he returned. Jula seemed somewhat surprised, and glanced between the front door and Aden's room without saying much more than, "Oh... Okay. Don't stay too late now."

She had to wait, she didn't like waiting, every second he didn't respond Desna was sure that she'd made a mistake and came to the wrong house. Her head was still a little wonky, no where near twenty four hours ago but she could have made a wrong turn or something. Maybe Aden didn't want to see her, that sent her nerves wracking needlessly, he could have been a sickness educed hallucination in the first place, but the healer had mentioned seeing him, maybe she was a hallucination.
Thankfully she heard his voice and knew she at the very least had the right house. Petting Pikatti on the head Desna moved in through the thick fur flap on the door way standing near it, not wanting to spread whatever she had too far into the house hold. " I'll wait over here.." She chimed and then looped her hands behind her back feeling the uncomfortable tightness in her shoulders.
Her usually darker skin tone was somewhat pale and her hair was free and brushed despite her protests at the healing huts. She just felt, not herself. Densa looked up hearing some murmuring between Aden and his mother, she tried to look away as if she wasn't listening not wanting to interrupt them.
Don't stay out too late, that seemed somewhat humorous, her home wasn't that far away, he'd be back by lunch, she didn't know exactly how it would work, if he'd walk her to the shelf or all the way home, for some reason she couldn't see anyone venturing out to the shelf with her heading all the way to her home. He'd be the first. Most people wouldn't want to bother with the distance. No matter how nice Aden seemed everyone had their limits.
