Activity Idea?

There's like, 20 canon characters in avatar that matter. The site is fairly low on activity. I notice your rules still state one per account, and I'm guessing that's either A. To leave some option open to new members, or B. You think two canon characters will be too much. But right now the site is in need, and no offense, but until activity picks up how can you afford to be horrendously picky? lol

Yes, Katara and we will continue to allow One Canon Character Per Person. I don't exactly see Chamir, Myself or You (The only people who play Canon Characters) knocking down the door for a second canon. There is no demand from anyone for a second canon and other than you, no one's ever raised this much of a stink about it (I remember you raising this complaint before).

If someone wants a second Canon Character, all they have to do is ask and have a good history of active posts.

It's not being horrendously picky. I have no problem with allowing people to take a second, and neither does Chamir as long as they ask. "Hey Chamir/Jia, would it be a problem if I took a second canon?" And We look at their RPing history, which right now no one really has, and if it was a good history and they could handle the extra posting - the answer would be "Sure, Go ahead".

The main point I guess would be, npc some relevant canons until someone wants to permanately play them. (Not requiring profiles temporarily, just to move along) I mean, you've got Azula, I've got Katara...I can't see a rp with just those two really working unless it's a battle scene. Either that, or a situation they both get slammed in that they're forced to work together to get out of, followed by a distrustful battle scene. xD

Then again, what kind of danger would threaten them both? I think the only common character they didn't like was Long Feng.

You are more than welcome to NPC relevant canons. That has never and will never be against the rules. Until a character's role is filled, that character can be NPCed by whoever it is most convenient for. If someone wishes to volunteer for that, they may, otherwise it falls to who would be deemed most likely to be near or within that person's group.

I'm considering restarting the plot. Dropping us back to when Aang came out of the iceberg since 'the people who made this plot are gone' as Hibiki put it in a discussion. I will also be contacting Aden, who has been our Aang Player for his opinion as well if he wishes to return.

I'd like your opinion as well as the opinions of people who may be visiting the site and considering applying. Would you like a site-plot reboot so that you can have a better footing since most of our members have disappeared?

ok.... so imma noob and i was unsure how to start.... or where to post my questions, but since this tread is so recent and it involves the poeple most likely to answer my questions: here i go with my noobery...

So I want to play a main(ish) character so I can rp often. However i read a recent Zuko profile and the responce was that there was a Zuko already, however I checked the canon list and he was marked 'available'.

Therefore i was hesitant to do as I have done with RP sites in the past and just create a profile and then move on from there with whatever suggestions an admin gives me.

Is the canon list up to date? is toph available?
If not, then whom do you suggest i go after so that I may be involved in most of the storyline.
Also I have no RP history here however I would like to take on the role of Piandao along with the main(ish) character i choose, would that be too much since both r canon, (however piandao wouldnt be involve in many rp threads)??

Just some questions i have and judging from the activity I will check tomorrow for a reply.

That confused you? I apologize if it did as I meant 'We have a Zuko Applicant'.

We do not have a Zuko, but I am in the process of reviewing the most recent Zuko profile.

As of July 4th, 2010, the Canon List is up to date. Only Azula, The Earth King, and Katara are taken. Every other canon is currently available.

As for taking on two canon characters at once: I would prefer if you focused on one character for now and established yourself as a dependable player. One of the reasons why Feng Shui is in the state it is now is because of players who were not dependable or who got tired of the site and did not alert us to their leaving.

There are currently no Toph Applications being processed. You may work on a profile, or a competing profile up until the point a character is formally accepted and even then, if two or more competing profiles are completed with reasonable time of each other we will consider all the profiles and choose from them the best.

Have you considered a more context-sensitive approach? One that exits real-time, and allows you to rp the same character at different times. Like... Lets say you want to rp Aang coming out of the ice berg, but also rp his battle with fire lord Ozai, and a third rp with an original plot of your own? Getting "trapped" in one thread is the reason why this site died in the first place. Staying canon is fine, but not in a real-time restricted-to-one-thread rp.

Another thing, the staff governing where the "plot" is, prevents member's from doing their own thing with canon characters. Poor Toph here won't even be able to rp at all if you keep canons to one thread AND go back to the ice berg.

I think if we rped the ice berg that would be fine, but being also allowed to do a thread that could involve "friendly" Zuko, Toph, and other later characters like Azula even, would really broaden feng shui's horizons.

I dunno how many people will agree, but that's my two cents.

If I may interject,

I was gonna do an app for Toph as well ( but will choose some1 else now), and if the plot was not up to the point where toph is with aang and katara and sokka then I was going to RP as the champion earthbender in the underground and also RP her normal family life, where she is supposed to be weak and not a good bender and all...

SO Toph can RP even if it is in one thread and even if the plot has not progressed to where she is introduced in the show...

Maybe along the way Toph can RP with original chars, maybe some other earthbenders and maybe later on there will be more people to fight the Fire nation, or whatever I'm just spitballin...

I wonder which character I am going to make a bio for now ... any suggestion? Which char is missing that yall would like to see? (preferably a guy)

BTW, that avatar for Katara seems fitting. I feel like u really r katara and the mods r aang and sokka and u r fussin them out like in the show.

Current non-reboot setting we're at can be read here. Toph is already part of the GAang and can either be currently traveling with or without them. Your choice.

Slowdown of canon movement at Feng Shui has always been due to the players themselves for whatever reasons and/or whatever partner(s) they were with. Whether its movng a thread along or actually starting a thread, it always requires the players to actually do something; actual posting or at least communicating with one another to encourage posting.

Nor are canons chained together in a particular thread due to plot constraints or player inactivity. You are allowed to interact with non-canons. You are allowed to move along for whatever need be and it is encouraged that you communicate with whoever you're rping with to at least keep a thread moving or come to a conclusion so you yourself can move along or put the thread on hold if you feel you are being slowed down.
