At Amir’s agree, Raine hopped up to her feet. He was in front of her and jumped back from the water. Raine grabbed his arm and lead him in to mid thigh deep water.
“First off. Calm down. I’m no going to fill your mind with useless lesson about being ‘one’ with the water,” She explained leading in to deeper water. The water was now up to her collar bone and she beckoned Amir to come in deeper. “Alright. If I can reach the bottom so can you.” She started, “All you have to do is kicked your legs and keep your self balanced with your arms,” Raine explained.
“Or,” She said bringing up yet another statement, “. .You can float on your back.” Raine leaned back started to float on her back. Raine came back to swimming position and smiled, “ Just make sure you don’t freak on your back. As long as you stay balanced, you’re fine.”
“Oh, and, if you start to feel ‘uncomfortable’ I’m here, so you can hold on if you need,” Raine finished off hoping her words were comforting.

Amir scowled as he finally began to walk into the water, shivering as the cold water lapped up against him. He hated water. Absolutely hated it. Especially after almost being killed by being thrown into water. He crossed his arms across his chest, pouted like a three year old child whose favorite toy was just taken away from him. "I don't want to calm down. I almost died back there!" the boy complained, his voice taking on the tone of a boy, thirteen years younger than how old he really was.
Wading in even deeper so he could stand next to Raine, he sighed. "I don't like the water." he stated, glaring at her out of the corner of his eye. What are you doing, you idiot? Acting like a child is not going to get Raine-chan to like you! the voice of reason yelled in the back of his head. Sighing, Amir admitted it inside his head. For once, his voice of reason was actually speaking the truth. Without another word, he lay on his back in the water, kicking his feet up. Waving his arms around to keep himself up, Amir winced as he began to sink. He hated water and anything to do with it, except for Raine-chan and maybe Lin-san, though he had not really gotten to know the other girl well.
"I just can't do it. Water just doesn't like me." the acrobat said in an exasperated voice, finally giving up on acting manly to impress Raine.

Lin sat there on a rock by the shore, watching the two teens wade into the water. She was sitting pretzal style with her hands folded and resting on her ankle. She's just glad that nobody was fatally injured or anything. She sighed, and gazed into the horizon ahead, her mind wandering into deep thoughts... and memories. Voices of the past were coming back to her, as she closed her eyes. She had awful memories of her brother tossing her aside like dirt, her sister being annoying and a show off in healing... but pleasent memories of her teacher as well.
Lin kept drifting on in her memories until she came into the memory of her parents, back when everything was actually normal. Thought those memories were very far and had almost faded away, she still enjoys them and are probably the only ones that calm her down.

Raine saw frowned at Amir. "It seems to me, you don't like the water, rather it disliking you." Raine explained what she was thinking. "Hmmm. . . . . . . . " Raine had an idea. "You know when you ran away from Vishnu? How your legs kept moving at the same pace? Well, try moving your legs at th same time different ways like you were when you were running. Then all you have to do is wave your hands side to side like if you were to clap your hands.. . . . As simple as that." Raine went under water and swam to the other side of Amir. "It might even be easier to swim under water," She said wiping the water from her face. Raine layed back on her back floating. "Also. You won't die. My water bending will keep you afloat so just won't drowned. All you have to do is at least try to keep afloat."

"I have had bad experiences with water." Amir said, simply, not really wanting to go into detail. If Raine found him weak or something of that sort because he could not swim, all of his stories about being pushed into a shallow stream and almost drowning because he would not stand up instead of writhing in the water, on his stomach. Even if he was being taught how to swim by a female, Amir did have his dignity. He would not make himself out for a total fool.
"Swim? Underwater?" the acrobat asked in a startled voice, clearly not expecting Raine to tell him to do that now. He hated water when he was just standing in it and now he was supposed to go underwater, where there was no air? His eyes widened as he thought about it. He could drown and die in the water. And I am only seventeen.
Taking a deep breathe, Amir decided to actually try going underwater. Raine could waterbend so if he began to drown, she would be able to waterbend him back up to the surface and all would be well. Closing his eyes, Amir kneeled down and ducked his head underwater. Keeping his eyes closed as he went underwater, Amir relished the cool feeling of the water against his skin. Even if water was pure evil and seemed to be out to get him, it was cool underwater, much better than having to deal with the thick, humid air of the Earth Kingdom.
But, since this was his first time underwater that was not forced by being pushed into the water or something of that sort, Amir accidently inhaled water, causing him to come right back up to the surface, coughing loudly. Wiping water from his mouth with his arm, the boy sighed before he began coughing once more. His gaze staying glued to the water so he would not have to look at Raine and admit that he was still having trouble with this whole swimming thing.

Raine smiled in a 'I- told- you - so' kind of smile, " See. You're just getting started. At least you tried. And besides, you have to get confortable in the water. you can't just exspect your self to be an excelent swimmer after a couple minute let alone and our of so." Raine explained. "Oh. . . . And what might help is knowin ho long you can hold your breath. I can hold mine for about 30 - 40 seconds. Not the best time but good enough. Heh. . .I know people who can hold their breath for more than 3 minute," She explained once more, " But anyways, if you know how long you can go under, then you now when to come up to breath. Simple as that."
Raine looked to shore where Lin was. "Lin!" Raine called to her, "Come swim! The water's great!" raine yelled beckoning for her to come.

"It would be nice if I could be." Amir muttered, frowning and crossing his arms across his chest. He really did not want to stay in the water any longer, but, if it would make Raine-chan like him more, he was going to have to deal with staying in the water. Shivering slightly as a breeze blew past him, he shoved his fingers under his arm pits, trying to stay warm despite how cold it felt. Half listening to what Raine said about staying underwater for long periods of time, he raised his eyebrows.
Like I would do that. the acrobat scoffed inside his head. He had trouble staying underwater for a couple seconds, let alone three minutes. "You promise to not let me drown if I don't come up?" he asked, giving up on seeming tough. His face was contorted with worry as he looked down at the clear water of the lake, wondering how much trouble Soraya would get into if he did drown. Ma would probably wring her neck since Amir was her favorite, a fact he had found did not earn him more friends among his family.
As Raine called for Lin, Amir walked closer to Raine so he could whisper in her ear, "Something seems weird about Lin-san. She seems so quiet and angry for a girl her age. And, she does not seem to want to come into the water.". He did not mean to be rude or anything of that sort, he was just making an observation.

Darn it!! Lin swore in her head, and cringed when Raine called out to her, breaking her little chain of memories. She popped her eyes open and located Raine and Amir in the water. What will she do? She wouldn't want to be rude, nor look like a fool. Rude it is, though she wasn't going to seen rude.
"No, thank you. I'm just fine right here," Lin called back. She didn't recall the last time she actually swam. The only time about half of her touched the water was when she was in the stream, but that was a different story. She could at least stand in the water. But what if Raine tries to convince her to come into the water?
Humuliating. Just embarassing, to be a waterbender not really liking the water.

Raine looked to Amir and put her right hand over her heart, “ Amir Sen Song, I promise I will not, on any cecomstances, let you drowned,” She finished with a you’ve- got – nothing – to – worry- about smile.
Raine looked to Amir as he whispered to her. “ Yeah, I have noticed that. But maybe she has a phobia like you do,” Raine whispered back, “Oh . . . . . I know how to fix this . . . . ,” Raine said loudening her voice, “ Lin! You don’t have to come in if you don’t want to!” Lin called back with a no thanks. Raine shrugged, “ Ok, Lin! We’ll be up in a bit!”

The boy smiled halfheartedly, trying to not seem uneasy about this whole swimming thing though inside, he was panicking. Going underwater again? Was she really going to make him do that? Lazy Amir typically never wanted to try things again after it went bad the rest time. Shivering as a breeze blew past them, he wished he had never agreed to go swimming. Hell, he wished that Soraya and Lakshmi had just stayed out of the whole Raine and him situation but like most of his family, they always felt the need to be nosy. It was enough to drive the poor boy insane. And if Soraya and Lakshmi were bad, his mother was a thousand times worse. She never gave him a moment of piece, no matter what the situation was. Though being the favorite of his mother's had its perks, it also had its annoyances. The motherly woman always had to know everything about her seventh son.
"I do not have a phobia! It is more like a slight fear!" Amir whispered back to the girl, clearly embarrassed by the fact he was afraid of something so small and normal as water. Recovering from his pride being wounded slightly from Raine's comment, he looked over at Lin. Why doesn't she like to swim? I have my reasons, of course, but what are hers? She is a water tribe member like Raine after all and Raine can swim pretty well. he wondered, still looking at the younger girl, as if simply looking at her would somehow help him out why she did not want to go in the water. Obviously, it did not solve his problem at all and left him staring at a thirteen year old girl who seemed to have a very short temper.
As Raine said they would go to Lin, the acrobat breathed a sigh of relief. He wouldn't have to swim anymore. He wouldn't have to embarrass himself anymore. Smiling widely, he began to walk toward the beach. "Come on, Raine-chan! We do not want Lin-san to be lonely!"

At Raine's reply, she sighed and closed her eyes again, relaxing her shoulders. Feeling a calm, warm breeze, she took a long, deep breath and exhaled. When she heard Amir calling back to Raine, she peeked one eye open and cringed, seeing him walking to the shore. She sighed again. There goes the peaceful moment... right down the drain. she thought. She closed her one eye again, but shut both very tightly and relaxed her shoulders again.
The splashing waves of the water brought back another memory; a bad memory, of why Lin didn't want to go into the deep waters. "Mommy! Mommy! Look what I can do!" the very young Lin said, kneeling by the water. She hovered her hand over the water, and moved it quickly from side to side, making the water splash a little left and right. "That's very nice, Lin," her mother said. Little Lin began splashing it back and forth with both hands. "Come now, we're heading home, remember?" Lin nodded, and began running ahead of her mother. She ran along the edge. She wasn't looking where she was stepping, and stepped where the water was! She fell sideways and into the freezing cold water--
Lin shuttered and rubbed her arms, opening her eyes. She sighed, and frowned. How she hated that memory.

Raine followed Amir to shore. She dried her self off by taking the water off of her with her bending and sat down on the rock starting to re-dress. Raine looked up to the sky after putting on her boots. She walked over to the rock Lin was sitting on and looked over to her, “ Hey what’s wrong?” That is what Raine usually and always asked when ever some one was frowning. Raine ruffled her hair with her hand. She still hadn’t gotten used to her hair being short.
Raine looked up to the sky once more, “ I think it’s going to rain. We should probably get going soon.” She saw birds on the ground. Usually when there were heavy rain birds would be by the ground. Raine pondered over what cerconstance she called was correct.
The wind picked up a knoch and made some small trees and branches sway back and forth making them look like dried trees sap.

Unlike Raine, Amir had no method to dry himself off other than letting himself air dry. That was going to take a while so, until then, he was stuck wet and shivering whenever wind blew past him. Wrapping his arms around himself, he walked toward the place where he had left his tunic. He reached down and picked it up, but it was wet too, from when he was thrown into the water. Sighing in aggravation, he pulled the tunic over his head anyways, hoping it had dried a little since he had taken it off. Sadly, it was still wet. Great, just great. This day just can't get any better. I almost drown, have to be taught how to swim by a girl, and am now soaking wet and probably on the verge of getting sick soon. he complained inside of his head, obivously being extremely dramatic. Beginning to rub his arms as he walked with Raine, he looked over his shoulder to see Soraya and the little children beginning to get out of the water also. Hassan and Vishnu had disappeared, obviously because they were hungry.
Suddenly, little children were crowded around Amir, each of them smiling widely up at him as they prevented him from walking any farther.
"Uncle Amir, are you dead from falling from the cliff?"
"Uncle Amir, is that lady your girlfriend?"
"Amir, are you going to get married to that girl?"
"Uncle Amir, are you going to kill Uncle Vishnu? If you do can we watch?"
"Do you have a pimple on your nose, now?"
"Why do you look like Grandfather when Grandmother keeps bothering him?"
"Amir-kun, why do you look all upset?
The seventeen year old looked like he was about to explode with anger before Soraya finally yelled, "Come on, kids! Uncle Amir needs to be left alone!". She was giggling though, as she observed all of the kids proceed to hug their uncle, most of them barely reaching his waist. After all of them decided they had hugged their poor Uncle Amir, they began to walk toward Soraya who was beginning to lead them to the encampment. Sighing, the boy brushed himself off and began to walk toward Raine who was talking to Lin.
"I must say, Raine-chan, you are a wonderful teacher." Amir said, smiling at the older Water Tribe girl. She probably was a good teacher, but he hoped that by saying this, he would be exempt from all other swimming lessons so he would not have to be embarrassed anymore. As Raine made the comment about the weather, he also looked up at the sky. Sure enough, it looked like a storm was brewing. Just as he pondered how long it would take to get back to the encampment, thunder was heard, making Amir sigh in aggravation once more. "We need to get going. Storms around here are always pretty bad." he announced, continuing to look at the sky.

Lin looked up at Raine and relaxed herself again. "Nothing, nothing's wrong," she said, answering Raine's question. She felt the wind push against her face, as she looked more at the sky. She saw storm clouds that were beginning to roll into their area. Lin uncrossed her legs and stood up on the ground and off the rock, facing the water. She held her left fist inside her right handand held it gently against her stomach, still looking up to the sky.
Then she glanced over to the children gathering around Amir. When they scattered away, Lin turned her head back to the sky. Hearing Amir say about the storms, she turned her head to both of the older teenagers, waiting for Raine's response. She thought the storm clouds looked kind of bad.

“If you say so ,Lin.”Raine didn’t quite know what to do when everyone looked at her. Of course she did know that since the climates were different in the earth kingdom, being more hot and humid, the storms would collect a lot of water making it rain harder, stronger and longer. Raine nodded her head to Amir, “ We should get going.” She said after a slight pause. “Perhaps we should go back to the city, Lin. I still have a few nights at the Inn. And we shouldn’t bother Amir’s family. . . . Or upset his mother, which I think has already been accomplished.” Raine started to walk back to the path turning around and making sure everyone was coming along. If something were to happen to Lin or Amir, or any of the others, on her account she wouldn’t forgive her self if she could have done something.. . .
