"Wait for me Hoji-Sempai!" Kavik shouted. He was staring of into obilvion as usual and wasn't listening to Hoji. "Let me try!" Kavik raised his hand and tried to mimic Hoji and Sai. He got half of it right but ended up freezing himself to the wall. "Umm Oops?" Kavik unfroze himself and tried again, but he kept messing up. Kavik closed his eyes tried once more, finally getting it right. "AH HA! I got!" Kavik contiued to stablized the houses. But he notice that it was also class time. "Hoji-sempai! We need to get to class! Pakku will have our heads if we're late!" Kavik slipped on his ice gliders totally forgetting one had a crack, and speeded to to class...until he hit a bump and flew head long into a canal. "GAHHYAAAA!" SPULLOOOSH! Kavik tried to swim out, but skates made it difficult. "HELP! HELP I CAN'T SWIM!"

Sai gasped at the crazy boy once more. "Okay.... er, you seriously need to relax! I'm not teacher, nor great at bending, but I think relaxing helps..." Sai was pretty relaxed himself at a moment when Kavik was splashing and stuggling in the water. He took a deep breathe and started to make small waves that pushed Kavik gently to the edge of the canal. The sun, now at his eyes, made it difficult to concentrate. It was also difficult because of Kavik's unabilty to swim, so he could sit still in the water. "This is one of the times you need to relax!" yelled Sai over Kavik's screams. "Move you feet around in the water, but don't splash!" Sai doubted that his yells could be heard, so he just made a block of ice that pushed Kavik to the edge of the canal. Please work... please cooperate, Kavik... please!

Kavik kept kicking he was afraid of drowning, the heavy skate we pulling him down, but Sai's reassurance stopped his movement. With Sai's help he swam out of the canal and looked at his skates. "AHHH MAN!" The water bender teen groan at his broken skates. "Great I'm late for class and I broke my gliders, and definitely using something stronger that seal bone, but how am I gonna get to class now?" Kavik bended the water off his clothes but his hair was still damp. "Great I smell like sea water, Kokomi won't let it down." Kavik took off his skates and was going to put it back in his satchel when he notice it was missing "Drat..." He fetched the satchel from the canal and thrusts his skates angrily in the bag. "Could things get any more embarrassing?"

Sai was very confused... how did a boy like him get into Paku's class? She let out a warm breathe and dried off Kavik's clothes. "I hope the smell goes away, but you're not wet anymore!" Sai had a small smile on his face. "Here, I'll give you a short- cut to Paku's class." Sai pulled out a small map of the Tribe from his pocket and dried the dampness away. He pointed a route down various canals and bridges, and showed a nice shortcut. "Now you can get there faster and the the buildings will block the Sun from warming you guys up! I hope that helped."
Sai turned to Ayame, who didn't look to happy. "I know it's hard not bending, but look at my sisters; they are wonderful healers, and I bet you can be one too! At least you will have some water thing going on, then maybe the laws will change and allow women to bend."

She thought about it. Helaing? It seemed interesting. She'd seen healers at work; it was amazing what they did. But she remembered watching the boys waterbend, and the warriors practice, and it seemed so......beautiful.
In a tough sort of way, of course. she thought, a smile creeping on her lips.
"Sai, you've got to be the most optimistic guy I've ever met." Ayame said, grinning.
"Healing is awesome and all," she continued, "And I think I'd love to be able to change things around here. Something to tell my grandchildren, all right." She giggled.
"But it's amazing what you guys do. The fighting, that is," she added. Ayame knew it was impossible for her to waterbend, but fighting, while improbable, wasn't. "I know one day, war or no war, I'm going to travel and go on all sorts of adventures....."
She then did some movements she had once seen warriors students do combined with moves she'd seen waterbenders practice, only to stumble and nearly fall. She stood firmly very quick.
"I meant to do that." she said, turning red but laughing.

Sai burst out laughing also. "Heh.. no offense, but the warrior training we do are mainly moves that men can handle, but women can do it if they tried... About the optimistic stuff, I'm not usually like this, but in times like this, I guess optimism is need!"
Sai turn his head around a corner of a building. He saw a gruesome sight: an entire building crushed and a small child, clothes torn, and crying. Sai ran over to the child and said, "Wow! Where are your parents?" He know the toddler couldn't answer, so he swept parts of the building off of the child with bending. The child seemed to be fine, but a minor cut and blood trickling down was visible. Sai took his hand in front of the wound and was about to heal, but he realized something and looked at Ayame and said, "...do you want to? I would be happy to teach you how to heal. I mean, this isn't fooling around because this is a real child injured, but the cut isn't so bad and I think it is impossible to hurt someone healing. It either works or doesn't!"

Hoji growled at Sai. "Healing is for women." he said, his face in a small snarl. Hoji shook his head and knelt down at the small child's side. "Go to the palace, tell Jipo that Hoji sent you. She'll take care of you from there."
The child nodded and ran off toward the nearly repaired ice house, leaving Hoji, Sai, Kavik, and Ayame alone on the desolate street. The elder boy shook his head and stood up, looking over the walkway.
Hoji looked back at Sai and Kavik, addressing the two boys first. "I still want to show you that technique Sai. Kavik, you would benefit from learning the skill too." Hoji then turned to Ayame.
"You may come. As I said you need to stay out of our way. Many water bending moves improve stability and strength, both essential traits for a warrior." he frowned and turned, making his way to the arena. "Even if I don't approve of female warriors."

"Exuse me? Healing can be useful in many ways. What if you were alone and you got wounded? You have no one to help you because you can't heal! I know a lot of males who can heal, but what really annoys me is that you creating a line between males and females. I don't understand why our tribe has that but our sister tribe doesn't. Now, this is just my opinion and I don't want to start an arguement. We have people to help. I would be glad if you would teach me and Kavik techniques, but don't treat Ayame like that."
Sai was broken into pieces internally. He thought Hoji was a younger version of Paku and he was a male Katara. He always remembered when his friend told him of the 'Great Katara and Paku fight' and how Sai heard the message loud and clear. Sai cleared his mind and said, "Okay Hoji, I'm ready."

Hoji narrowed his eyes at the younger boy. He really was going to regret this. Looking around at the arena, untouched by the earthquake he sighed and tried to concentrate on what his mother had taught him.
"I've already said this, but I will repeat myself. This is a drill to improve concentration and control over the water. None of the moves I'm about to show you have any real value in a battle, but they are very good for calming down."
Hoji sighed and sat down in the 'seiza' correct sit position, his feet tucked underneath his legs, his back strait. The boy took a deep breath and concentrated. A ball of water picked itself up from the melted snow and formed itself into a perfect sphere.
"I want you to concentrate and make a perfect circle of ice in every direction. It should be smooth and you shouldn't be able to break the ice easily."

Sai knew this 'teacher-student' relationship wasn't working to well, but he was still learning some. "Okay, I'll try..."
Sai sad down on the ground and closed his eyes. Again, the sun was in his eyes, so he turned the other way and began bending a blob of snow so it was at eye level. He melted the snow, thinking like the Sun was still in front of him, and it was a lopsided, squiggly edged ball. He moved his hands around in a circular motion, like he was making a ball in his hands. The helped shape the water-ball. It was about perfect, and Sai let out a cool breath, freezing the ball and turning into ice. He brought his hands closer together, which packed the ice harder, and let the ice ball gently fall to the ground. He peeked an eye open, and he could see just an ellipse of ice.... "Uh... heh heh... close enough?"

It was better than Kavik's it was a shapeless blob. "Umm I'll try again." Kavik considrated on the orb of water. "C'mon freeze right," Finally it did, then he dropped it and shattered. He melted it into water again and then thought of something. "Hoji-Sempai! Watch this!" Kavik consentrated hard and molded the water into a frozen boomerang. "Check it out! It's a frozen 'rang," He threw the boomerang in the air and watched it circle around like a real boomrang and soar right to Kavik but the boy wasn't ready and shouted "INCOMING!" Using some quick thinking he morphed the boomerang back into water so it won't hit Hoji, instead he got a face full of ice cold water. "Ooops, Sorry Hoji-Sempai..At least you didn't get decapitated by my 'rang." Said the Water bender blushing out of embarresment. This wasn't the first time stuff like this happen to his superiors.

Sai gasped at the lunatic for the third time. "You are a playful one, aren't you?" asked Sai, retorically.
Kavik seemed so... outgoing. Sai raised an eyebrow at Kavik, who seemed to still be 'hyper' in this situation. Sai could only image how Hoji is feeling right now: burning inside with anger, flames brewing in his hair, fists clunched, and about to explode. You would think the ice cold water would cool 'im down, but more might be needed to keep his flames from arising
"Er.. Hoji? Are you alright? Sai began to dry the water off his face, but he did not want to do much to Hoji if his moodiness starts to show. Sai looked to Ayame and let out a small giggle of the incedent that happened. Today was such an interesting day for Sai, and he could nott help to show it in anyway possible, wheather it was laughing or crying.

Ayame laughed at Kavik's antics. He seemed clumsy, but it was OK, she was too. This had to be the strangest group of guys she'd ever hung out with, though most guys usually didn't like to be around her.
But Sai really made her think. It was nice of him to stand up to her like that (if he hadn't of done it, she would've, and that wouldn't have been pretty at all). Sai seemed to be an independent thinker. Independence, she thought, always good.
She tried to be nice to Hoji though, even if he was just like most boys she's met. She took a deep breath.
"Never a dull moment with you, huh Kavik?" she said, smiling playfully.

Hoji rolled his eyes. "You are all insane," he muttered, more to himself than to anyone else. He took both of the icy un-circles and drove them into the ground, melting the ice into water.
"Try again. And Ayame, be quiet or go away." He shook his head disapprovingly. "You are not concentrating hard enough, you both need to think about the angles of a sphere. Another way to make the circle is to start out small and keep adding or subtracting water to the ice. Like the wall, remember Sai." The elder water bender glared at Kavik, "If you cannot do this properly than you should practice until you can. Do not play around until then."
Hoji looked at Ayame. He narrowed his eyes and bit his tongue for a minute. "Please stop distracting us, we cannot concentrate if you do not be quiet." Hoji concentrated and a stream of water formed into a sphere in front of him.
"Try again. Both of you."

A mini- volcano just erupted in Sai's head. He almost felt steam coming out of his ears. He was furious with Hoji. "No. I will not do it. I am not willing to learn from someone who treats girls like that. I mean, how can you say something like that?! What if girls could only bend and boys couldn't? How would you feel about that, huh?! Apologize now!" He threw his fists downward, causing two cracks in the icy walkway.
Sai pointed his tanned nose in the hair, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes. Sai was making a statement, or just ignoring Hoji. Then he thought about Ayame and how she felt. Everytime Sai tried to help her, Hoji brought her back down, and Kavik was just... there, being random. Sai now thought he was acting foolish; doing what he was for a minute now, so he opened his eyes and said, "I'm waiting...."
