Hoji raised an eyebrow and smirked. "You asked me to teach you, remember?" He said, standing up. The elder boy brushed down his long tunic and stared down his straight nose at Sai.
"I will not apologize, because I said nothing wrong. I only stated what I thought, so I shall not take back my actions." he said, folding his arms across his chest and staring down at the boy. "You can wait until there until the glaciers melt and the tundra dries and I still won't apologize. You are accomplishing nothing by ignoring me."
Hoji sighed and looked up at the clear sky. "But if you really feel that strongly about it why don't you fight over it? Pouting isn't going to do much good."
The boy smirked again and backed away from Sai, settling into a bending position, his weight low and his arms in front of his chest. "Come on boy. I'll go easy on you too."

Sai knew he shouldn't, but it was getting to him deep. "Fine, we will fight." Sai got in position and without any bows, he started gathering water from the canal around him, just a medium- large stream, and blasted it forward to Hoji.
Sai doubted this did anything, but he hoped it was a success. Already tired from the heat and anger, he ripped out the band tieing his har, letting the wet, black, and log hair fall down. He thought he would get a counter- attack, so he elevated himself on an ice-block just to make sure he could see what Hoji was doing.
This was Sai's first fight with another person (not including his brothers), and he didn't know what he got into...
Then, Sai took water from a canal and formed it into a perfect ice- ball. See, I can do it! He spun the ice ball in the air, ready to throw at Hoji....

Hoji smirked and prepared himself, concentrating hard on the boy in front of him. He watched as the stream came flying toward him and breathed in deeply. He controlled the water, shifting his weight to his back leg and whipping around sending the water around him and bending it back at his younger attacker.
The water bender frowned and pushed harder, adding an extra amount of force behind the water. While the wave was in mid air Hoji straitened up and then pulled back with his shoulders and upper body. The boy then stomped forwards his arms and hands raising in time to his feet.
This move bended the ice under him, causing a wave-like apparition of liquid to move at tremendous speeds toward Sai, along with his deflected jet of water.
Hoji smirked and watched as his twin attacks moved in on Sai. "How do you like my opinions now?" he muttered savagely under his breath.

Sai, after Hoji's first attack, was now knocked off the ice block onto the ground. He was now dizzy and felt really icky... so to say. He clothes are ripped, cuts all around him, and he was just vulnerable there on the ground.
Then Sai opened his eyes and his jaw dropped. Two attacks were closing in on him. He was doomed... unless he....
Sai jumped up with his arms out and in front and created a block of ice in front of him. For the liquid jet, he vigourously tried to gain control of it, but Hoji was controlling it too well. He managed to freeze it and make it join his wall of ice. As for the the wave of ice, Sai just had to dodge it, but it was hard. The ice hit his leg and he fell back down. "Ow! I should have never done this..." Sai muttered to himself. Finally, he took his wall of ice, liquified it and sent it back to Hoji as a wave. It was a weak one, becuase his leg was giving him pain and he was on the ground.

Kavik watch the whole thing with mild fasination. He already make a few ice spheres and was juggling them out of boredom. "Yah know? You guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill." Noted Kavik has he watched the fight. "Who really gives a rats ass about what Hoji-Sempai said. Thats his opinion. I don't give a damn! and you shouldn't either. Yeah he may be wrong, but who cares. Welcome to a socitey that worships the male image. I not and let it get to me. Considering I'm far from anything masculine. My sister beaten my ass so many times...it sad." Kavik shook his head he was getting annoyed. "Seriously guys give it up. It's ridculious Can you guys just...GROW UP?" He shouted the last word making himself known. He didn't look so childish right know infact he look dare I saw it. Mature?

Ayame felt a little weak, constantly being defended like that. But she couldn't help but feel happy, though also upset. She caused this arguement, and this fight. And now Sai just might get his butt kicked because of her.
No way, she thought,he'll do fine. He's talented....enough....
She stood on the side of they're fight, as they threw attacks one after the other. As guilty as she felt, this was still pretty cool.....
"Go Sai!" she yelled, getting wrapped up in the moment. She hoped it wouldn't "distract," him, but Sai seemed like he could use some support.
She watched Hoji make another attack, and take out Sai's leg a little. As much as Ayame would hate to admit it (and probably would never admit it to him), Hoji was good.
But there was always a chance. Sai seemed persisitent. She had confidence in him.

Sai thought Hoji is right. Fighting really won't solve anything. He stopped his weak attack and said, "Er... sorry, Hoji, but I can't do this. There is no reason for us to fight." He heard Ayame's cheers before, but he realized that he just can't fight. First, nothing would change and second, Sai could get badly hurt.
Sai ran over about 50 feet away and sat along the walkway, keeping his feet in the canal waters, and layed back, just as this incendent started. Now, the sun was on the horizon, and the moon now peeking. He let out a sigh and streamed water randomly around his head, and just let it splash on his face.
Sai turned his heard and saw Kavik, who actually told SAI to be mature... He enjoyed Kavik... he was funny, goofy, but he helped... Then Ayame, who believed in Sai, and Sai believed in her back. Finally, he turned his head to Hoji, who was a mini- me Paku....

Ayame rarely ever felt guilty about things. But Sai.......Sai had just lost a chance at training because of her. Oh, Sai, she thought. She looked over at Hoji; she couldn't help but be mad, but said nothing to him. Instead, she walked into the direction she had seen Sai go, and sat down next to him.
"You know," she said, grinning at him, "You're one of the few people who could make me feel guilty."
She looked hypnotically at the water Sai was streaming.
"Don't let me get in the way of your learning. Hoji may be.....ahem....well," if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all, she was reminded; an exact quote from her mother. But she couldn't help it; plus her mother wasn't here, "OK, he's a jerk. But he's a jerk that's a good waterbender, and can teach you."
She smiled again. "Don't worry, I can stand up for myself."

Hoji was just about to send the weak wave of water crashing back at Sai when it stopped and the liquid slithered back into the ice, slowly freezing into the tundra. He shook his head and relaxed. The practice had been fun, but it really wasn't worth fighting over.
He watched as Sai ran away and as Ayame followed the boy. Hoji then turned to Kavik and raised an eyebrow. "That wasn't appreciated, Kavik. They hate my guts enough without your help."
The older boy sighed and watched the moon rise, a little jealous of Sai. Hoji knew he shouldn't be feeling guilty for what he had said or done. He hadn't done anything wrong. Sai and Ayame just took things to literally.
But he was still jealous.
Jealous that a boy like Sai could actually make friends nearly instantly, and keep them too. Hoji stared at the moon, just beginning to rise. Friends. One of the few things that his bending and his bloodline couldn't get him.

Sai looked at Hoji who seemed depressed. Hoji seemed like the person who was lonely, yet agressive. Sai hasn't seen a smile on his face... and it looked like Hoji was really sad right now. "I can still be your friend, you know...." A small smile appeared on Sai's face as he moved the hair out of it.
Sai got up and walked slowly to Hoji and away from Ayame. "Look, I'm sure all three of us are your friends, but it's just that you might have acted in a way that we wouldn't be your friends."
The sun was now directly in Sai's eye, and half of it down the horizon. It was still warm, and as Sai walked closer to Hoji, it seemed to get warmer. He gestured Ayame and Kavik to come with him, towards Hoji Hopefully, all four of us could be friends after the end of this.

Hoji looked at Sai, lowering his arms from where they had been cradling his head. He was rendered slightly speechless by Sai’s little pronouncement. Then he frowned and looked away from the younger boy, turning most of his body to face the setting sun on the horizon. His face was hidden in shadows, a confused mask of a boy who never had any real friends, just family.
“I only acted the way I normally would have acted. I don’t want your pity or your friendship.” he growled, still looking at the painted horizon. Hoji frowned and sighed. “Just go away. You are becoming annoying.” he said, not unkindly. He just said it in a boring, deadpan voice that sounded like it had no real conviction in it.
And he should just go away, Hoji thought, I don’t want him around. He narrowed his eyes further and shifted his gaze from the horizon to the ice beneath his feet. I just want him to leave, he thought.

Kavik lifted an eyebrow. Was Hoji feeling sorry for himself? Sai was offering friendship and he was being an ass about it.
"Excuse me? Sai showing you friendship, he wants to be friends with you..and you refuse because he has the support of Ayame and I? To be honest I could give a damn about the girl. But what is your issue?" Kavik walked up to Hoji with the twilight giving him a glow. An eerie glow. He look at Hoji straight in the eye and give him an honest answer. "Get. Over. Yourself. You're acting replusive. I look up to you. I honor you. You right now I feel like you're my little brother. Are you jealous? Is that why you're acting more retarded than me? If that you issue that please, get over it. I don't friends either, and yeah I envy Sai abit. He's handsome and better bender than I. I envy you too, now that I think about it. You're more focus, and you have talent I never had, but instead of sulking and acting that I'm better everyone. I try to emulate them or ask for friendship...the later works better. I don't hate you, quite oppsite accually. I admire you, at least feel proud about that."

Sai was now sad, and a small tear trickled down his cheek. He turned to walk away, but he heared Kavik's kind, yet aggressive words.
Sai kept walking as Kavik spoke, but stopped after the compliment. "Thank you, Kavik," Sai said in a shaky voice. Another tear feel from his eye onto the ground.
"Hoji, I think of you as a wonderful waterbender, and I'm kind of jealous of that. The fact that the way you act is what I don't care about, I don't like it...
"I think you should be a little more happier then gloomy and sulkish, like Kavik said. Why can't you be considerate, at least?! Think of others for a change. I would love to try to be your friend, but if you keep acting like this it would be hard..."
Sai turned around and looked at everyone once more. His head sulked and he said, "Sorry, but if you want me to leave, I can..."

Ayame felt as though her head was spinning. She also felt a little annoyed at Kavik, speaking of her as though she wasn't there. But if it got them to stop arguing.....
This was crazy stuff. Sai had the kind of patience she could never achieve, and that's probably why the others looked up to him.
But Hoji, Hoji seemed like a puzzle! Sai offers him friendship, and he turns it away. Was he cold, or maye just.......not used to this kid of thing? Ayame wouldn't be surprised; very few girls her age believed i what she did. She should've taken her Grandfather's advice about not to judge people by first impressions. But then, when did she ever take anyone's advice?
Ayame looked over at Sai, who was crying. She sighed; she hated this feeling of helplessness.
"Look," she said, guilt-ridden and her hand behind her head, "I'm sorry to have caused all this, it wasn't my intention, honest."

Hoji remained impassive, his face in a mask. These children knew nothing about him. There wasn't much to know, history-wise, but pretty much the only thing that they could tell him for a fact was his name, gender and if he was a water bender or not.
He didn't like this helpless feeling. This feeling that these three people knew him and yet didn't know him. Was he really that easy to read? Hoji took a deep breath and shook his head.
Who was Kavik to preach to him anyway? So he admired him, what was admiration but over-glorified envy? Who was Sai to offer him anything but the solitude he had grown to know and love. And that girl. She had no right to. . .
No.
That was the attitude that had gotten him into this mess in the first place. But it wasn't that he would change, he was to stubborn to do that, but he could try and be at least nicer.
Friends might be nice but Hoji knew that he didn't need them. They could be there one moment, gone the next. He could get over it.
But could he really forgive himself for turning down a chance at a friend?
Yes.
He wouldn't feel guilty. He wouldn't have any regrets afterwards. Hoji smiled. He might feel a little lonely, but hard work and water bending would make that go away soon enough.
He looked up at the moon, now fully risen.
"I think," Hoji said, pausing slightly. "That I should be getting home."
